The PRNS procedure uses temporal filtering to define large-scale turbulence, and the model developed to account for unresolved scales is grid independent. No problem about inner commutation error and inconsistencies will arise from the PRNS, while such issues are of concern in traditional Large Eddy Simulation (LES) methods. The mean results have good agreement with the experiment data and the flow structures with small scales are well resolved.展开更多

To validate the model, the diaphyses of bilateral tibiae in 70 New Zealand rabbits were osteotomized and fixed with rigid plates and stress-relaxation plates, respectively. Stress shielding rate and ultimate bending strength of the healing bone were measured at 2 to 48 weeks postoperatively. Ratios of stress stimulation and fracture strength of the healing bone to those of intact bone were taken as the system input and output. The assumed first order system model can approximate the experimental data on fracture strength from the input of stress stimulation over time, both for the rigid plate group and the stress-relaxation plate group, with different system parameters of time constant and gain. The fitting curve indicates that the effect of mechanical stimulus occurs mainly in late stages of healing. First order system can model the stress adaptation process of fracture healing. This approach presents a simple bio-mathematical model of the relationship between stress stimulation and fracture strength, and has the potential to optimize planning of functional exercises and conduct parametric studies.展开更多

The cement-based piezoelectric sensor of this kind is mainly used in concrete structure due to its compatibility with concrete, and the encapsulation method of its sensing element is important to the effectiveness and accuracy of the transfer of the stress from concrete to the sensing element. The sensor′s measurement error of the previous encapsulation method, which was induced by the area of the encapsulation material and the inherent difference of Young′s modulus between cement and encapsulation material, was analyzed theoretically using parallel model. In the improved method, the error is minimized by decreasing the area of the encapsulation material and changing the configuration of the cement and piezoelectric material in the sensor. Two sensors made by the previous and improved methods were embedded in two prisms respectively and the prisms were compressed on Material Test System. Through the comparison of the measurement errors of the two sensors, the improved method was evaluated. The test results show that the improved encapsulation method is effective and feasible.展开更多

It is required that the steel piles be installed in the floor corners with a certain interval before the influence of the dynamic pressure induced by current panel extraction. Using numerical simulation and theoretical analysis, this study investigated the interaction between the steel piles and the floor rocks during the service life of the steel piles, and revealed the mechanism of the steel piles in controlling floor heaves. The effect of the steel pile parameters on the control of floor heaves was presented and elaborated. It is found that the effectiveness of the steel piles in controlling floor heaves can be enhanced with greater installed dip angle, longer length and smaller interval of the steel piles.Compared with traditional methods, e.g., using floor anchor bolts and floor restoration, the advantages using steel pile were successfully defined in terms of controlling effect and economic benefits. It is hoped that the proposed method can contribute to the development of gob-side entry retaining technique.展开更多
