If this window of... Transformers utilizing HTS (high temperature superconductors) are considered as a timely invention. The number of power transformers age more than 30 years old and nearing retirement is increasing. If this window of opportunity is not grabbed, there would be great reluctance to replace recently installed highly priced capital asset. Major projects of developing HTS transformers are well making progress in the United States, Europe, Japan, Korea and China which indicate the interest. The efforts must have been appropriately verified through the economic interest of the discounted losses. Consequently, it is very important to develop an understanding of the fundamental HTS transformer design issues that can provide guidance for developing practical devices of interest to the electric utility industry. The parameters of HTS transformer need to be validated before any effort is to carry out to model the behaviour of a distribution network under a range of conditions. The predicted performance and reliability of HTS transformers can then be verified through the network modelling and analysis calculation. The ultimate purpose is to furnish electric utilities precise information as to which HTS transformers work under various applications with greater technical efficiency and proven reliability. 展开更多

This work focuses on the uniqueness of rate-dependency, creep and stress relaxation behaviors for soft clays under one-dimensional condition. An elasto-viscoplastic model is briefly introduced based on the rate-dependency of preconsolidation pressure. By comparing the rate-dependency formulation with the creep based formulation, the relationship between rate-dependency and creep behaviors is firstly described. The rate-dependency based formulation is then extended to derive an analytical solution for the stress relaxation behavior with defining a stress relaxation coefficient. Based on this, the relationship between the rate-dependency coefficient and the stress relaxation coefficient is derived. Therefore, the uniqueness between behaviors of rate-dependency, creep and stress relaxation with their key parameters is obtained. The uniqueness is finally validated by comparing the simulated rate-dependency of preconsolidation pressure, the estimated values of secondary compression coefficient and simulations of stress relaxation tests with test results on both reconstituted Illite and Berthierville clay. 展开更多

A control scheme of electronic power transformer (EPT) in a three-phase four-wire distribution system, which included an input section, an isolating section and an output section, was researched under unbalanced loads. The simple and appropriate control scheme was developed through analyzing the system requirements of the primary side and the load requirements of the secondary side. In the input section, a dual-loop control in synchronous rotating d-q coordinates was introduced, and in the output section, a dual-loop control based on instantaneous output voltage was used. Load characteristics of EPT were investigated by using Matlab/Simulink software. Simulation results showed that, with the proposed control scheme, the EPT has good performances and the sinusoidal input current and constant output voltage can be realized under both balanced and unbalanced loads. 展开更多

The pressure matching and recovery performances of the second-throat supersonic-supersonic ejector have been performed experimentally and numerically in the current study.Schlieren pictures of flow structure in former part of the mixing chamber with varied stagnation pressure ratio of the primary and secondary flows have been taken,and the maximum compression ratios have been obtained.Additionally,the relevant numerical simulations have been performed.The obtained results show that the pressure matching performance of the second-throat supersonic-supersonic ejector is weaker than that of the constant area one,and the pressure recovery performance of the former is better than that of the latter.For the ejectors tested in this paper,the stagnation pressure ratios of the second-throat supersonic-supersonic ejector at the limiting condition are approximately 10% lower than those of the constant area one when the contraction angle of the mixing chamber is 4°,and the maximum compression ratio is 12%-30% higher.When the contraction angle of the mixing chamber is 6°,the pressure matching performance of the second-throat supersonic-supersonic ejector declines sharply,and the pressure recovery performance remains almost the same.When the contraction angle of the mixing chamber is 8°,the supersonic-supersonic ejection phenomenon does not take place any longer. 展开更多
