Floor heave has overridden seals installed in two mined out panels. The third seal's location was planned for isolating that area from the Mains. A plan of support has been developed to prevent repetition of the floor heave and related problems outby the seals. The applied ground control measures were successful. An attempt of a 3D numerical modeling was made; thus, it would match the observed behavior of the mine floor and could be used as a design tool in similar conditions. The paper describes sequence of events, an applied mitigation ground control system, and the first stage of numerical modeling.展开更多

There are a number of micro-nano metric methods for the analysis state of surface: the atomic force microscopy, the scanning tunneling microscopy and others. The SE (surface electron) over substrate has a "soft" hydrogen-like spectrum in the normal direction and the SEs mobility along is sensitive to the inhomogeneities of the substrate and this is analyzed in work. The values of electron mobility and energy of thermal activation are basic parameters of transport process which essentially depend on the helium film thickness. For analysis of nano-size inhomogeneities of substrate here we apply a new method providing a uniformity of the film thickness on substrate and fixing of measuring cell with supply wires. The plunger with electro-mechanic driver into a hermetic chamber is used for variation the helium level and consequently the film thickness. Considering values the conductivity and the variation of potential along surface is estimated the effective size of roughness from several nanometers (for non-saturated helium film) to 10^2 nm (for saturated film).展开更多

The visibility of 2-D flakes is very sensitive to the thickness of the SiO_2 layer (hsiO_2), which can not be determined precisely after the deposit of 2-D flakes. Here, we demonstrated a simple, fast and nondestructive tech- nique to precisely determine hsiO_2 of SiO_2 films on Si substrate only by optical contrast measurement with a typical micro-Raman confocal system. Because of its small lateral resolution down to the micrometer scale, this tech- nique can be used to access hsiO_2 on SiO_2/Si substrate that has been partially covered by 2-D crystal flakes, and then further determine the layer number of the 2-D crystal flakes. This technique can be extended to other dielectric multilayer substrates and the layer-number determination of 2-D crystal flakes on those substrates.展开更多

By direct current(DC) magnetron process, Pd/Ag alloy ultra-thin films were deposited on the substrate to eliminate the hydrogen embrittlement of sensor based on pure Pd. Several samples with different thin film thicknesses were fabricated at different substrate temperatures and tested in the optical fiber hydrogen sensor setup. We do a series of experiments for obtaining optimum sputtering parameters, such as optimum sputtering temperature and thickness of Pd/Ag alloy film. The humidity effect and reliability experiment for the optical fiber hydrogen gas sensor are reported in detail. The testing results demonstrate the Pd/Ag alloy is a promising material for optical fiber hydrogen gas sensor.展开更多
