Datong, a humongous coal base in China, has a history of over 2,000 years (beginning in Han dynasty) of coal excavation. Its coal production accounts for 1/14 of the national total (about 86.07 million tons). In recent years, along with the advancement of technical know-how and the ever growing energy-saving consciousness as well as the draconian requirement of environmental protection, coal demand has however been reduced dramatically. Constrained by this scenario, the municipal government, based on the characteristics of its resources, decided to nurture a new product—coal water mixture.Coal water mixture is a kind of slurry-like liquid fuel that made from an admixture of coal and water as per definite proportion—and a substitute for petroleum, raw coal and gas in industrial boilers, utility boilers and industrial kilns. About two tons of coal water mixture can be utilized as one ton of heavy oil while the combustion efficiency is the same as fuel but the pollutants discharged are less than fuel. And it is indeed an ideal alternative for oil—a situation that meshes with China’s present condition. At present, coal water mixture, being held up as one of the provincial potential products that can lift the hemorrhagic enterprises out of the quagmire and to change the single mode of shipping raw coal out of the province, is but a starter of an array of projects. Expanding on the 30,000-ton-per-year-capacity coal water mixture preparation plant of Datong Coking Corp, a one-million-ton-per-year coal water mixture plant will be constructed. 展开更多
