Nonclasssical Properties in Two-Mode Fields Resonantly Interacting with a Three-Level -Type Atom

Some noclassical properties in electromagnetic field are investigated for the interaction of two-modes initially taken in coherent-state representation with the three-level -type atom, such as squeezing properties and violation of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality. The enhancement of field squeezing is found by selective atomic measurement. The Cauchy-Schwartz inequality is violated by the application of the classical field followed by detection in excited state.

Effect of Batroxobin on Neuronal Apoptosis During Focal Cerebral Ischemia and Reperfusion in Rats

We have found that Batroxobin plays a protective role in ischemic brain injury, which attracted us to investigate the effect of Batroxobin on apoptosis of neurons during cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. The apoptotic cells in ischemic rat brains at different reperfusion intervals were tested with method of TdT-mediated dUTP-DIG nick end labeling (TUNEL) and the effect of Batroxobin on the apoptosis of neurons was studied in left middle cerebral artery (LMCA) occlusion and reperfusion in rat models (n = 18). The results showed that few scattered apoptosis cells were observed in right cerebral hemispheres after LMCA occlusion and reperfusion, and that a lot of apoptosis cells were found in left ischemic cortex and caudoputamen at 12 h reperfusion, and they reached peak at 24 h-48 h reperfusion. However, in the rats pretreated with Batroxobin, the number of apoptosis cells in left cerebral cortex and caudoputamen reduced significantly and the neuronal damage was much milder at 24 h reperfusion than that of saline-treated rats. The results indicate that administration of Batroxobin may reduce the apoptosis of neurons induced by cerebral ischemia and reperfusion and afford significant cerebroprotection in the model of focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion.

PRIMARY RESEARCH ON FRACTAL GEOMETRY OF MERIDIAN THEORY

In meridian theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the geometrical descriptions can be traced back to the remote ancient times in China, mainly in The Yellow Emperor’s Internal Classic (The Internal Classic in short). Euclid’s geometry, topology and other classic mathematics are all at their wit’s end to explain the high complexity and non clinear phenomenon of the meridian. In recent over 2000 years, the meridian phenomenon has been being the challenge to fundamental mathematics. Fractral geometry, founded by Mandelbrot (1975), is a branch of learning for investigating irregular geometrical curves. It has successfully solved some qualitative and quantitative problems about the topographical structure of molecular Brown’s movement curve and other irregular complicated curves and geometrical characters. The characteristics of geometrical topographical structure of meridian and its phenomenon belong to the research category of Fractal Geometry. The author of this paper believes that Fractal Geometry may provide a useful mathematical tool and a possible way for revealing the enigma of acup moxibustion meridian theory. The human body is of basic characters of Fractal Geometry in structure, while meridian is the expression form of Fractal structure of the human body. The basic Fractal geometrical characters of meridian are: self similarity, self affinity, symmetry, minute structure and self avoidance, which has been applied for thousands of years in clinic, such as “taking the acupoints on the right side of the body in cases of disorders appearing on the left side and vice versa". The basic characters of meridians are 1) symmetry of the 12 regular meridians on the bilateral sides of the body (symmetry); 2) similarity in characters and actions of acupoints of the same one meridian (self similarity); 3) taking acupoints on the lower part of the body when disorders occurring on the upper part of the body; and taking acupoints on the upper part of the body if disorders appearing on the lower part (self affinity); 4) micro acupuncture system including hand acupuncture, foot acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, auricular acupuncture and eye acupuncture (minute structure); and 5) systematical running of needling sensation (self avoidance).

Research on Firm Size, Firm Performance and Internal Auditing Modes——Based on Listed Manufacturing Companies of China

This paper is based on the samples of listed manufacturing companies of China, taking the financial performance as criterion, and then does research on the firm performance with different internal auditing modes, using Cross-sectional data to analyze the distribution of internal auditing modes and the characteristics of the firm performance. The conclusion is that setting up internal auditing is good for the development of companies, but the function of internal auditing has not been widelv fulfilled.

The biomimetic catalytic synthesis of acetal compounds using β-cyclodextrin as catalyst

Based on the principle of biomimetic catalysis, β-cyclodextrin was applied to the acetalation reaction as a facile and efficient catalyst, and the synthesis was environmentally friendly with atomic economy. The influencing factors of the acetalation reaction e.g. the reaction time, the volume of water-carrying agent,the molar ratio of catalyst to benzaldehyde and the molar ratio of glycol to benzaldehyde had been studied.The yield of benzaldehyde glycol acetal would reach a maximum of 81.3% under the conditions approached.Six of other acetals were also synthesized. Moreover, a plausible reaction mechanism for the formation of acetal had been proposed.

Proposal for a Reasonable Model of the Visual System： Principles of Clinical Neurosociology

This paper maintains that when photons enter the pupil and reach the Inner Limiting Membrane （ILM）, they are reflected onto a point or centroid of the vitreous body, which could be the lens, to be transmitted by the Muiller cells to the Retinal Pigment Epithelium （RPE） hexagonal cells, where an almost complete image is formed in each of them, overlapping with the adjacent images, to be carried subsequently by each of the ganglion cell axons to a place where the single image we are aware of is formed. This process calls for a high degree of control and coordination, which must be effected by the horizontal, amacrine, and interplexiform cells, gap junctions and the feedback provided from the V1 area to the Lateral Geniculate Nucleus （LGN）. But, as the ILM covers the optic disc but not the fovea, the latter must produce the blind spot and the rays reflected radially from the centroid must have the same centre as the Muller cells in order to be able to channel them to the RPE cells.

Mechanism and development of dip-pen nanolithography(DPN)

Dip-pen nanolithography is a new scanning probe lithography (SPL) technique based on atomic force microscopy (AFM), and now has made a great progress. The process of dip-pen lithography involves the adsorption of ink molecules on AFM tip, the formation of water meniscus, the transport of ink molecules, and diffusion of ink molecules on the substrate. More factors such as temperature, humidity, tip, scanning speed and so on will influence the process of dip-pen lithography. The paper analyzes in detail the mechanism of this technique, introduces synthetically the latest development, including electrochemical DPN, more-mode DPN, multiple DPN, multi-probe array DPN and so on. Finally, the paper describes the characteristics and the application of DPN.

Reflections on the Microeconomic Basis for Soft Budget Constraint in the Market Economy

Historical analysis of the market economy indicates that soft budget constraint is becoming increasingly pervasive and broad-rooted. Using an analysis of micro-level entities in the market economy, this paper describes how soft constraint derives from interdependence among corporations, banks, and the government. Soft constraint is explained in relation to changes in concentrated shareholding ownership, the increasing dominance of the financial sector, and financial insurance. We conclude： 1） concentrated shareholding ownership and institutionalized soft budget constraint create sub-optimal allocation of resources in the market economy; 2） neoclassical microeconomic principles cannot explain the economic actions of organizations in the market economy and should be revised; 3） externalities associated with soft budget constraint have spread across the globe to become both the cause and primary effect of cyclic global financial and economic crises. Hence, the government, banks, and the corporate sector must work together to overhaul supervisory mechanisms. On a global level, governments must collaborate to build a new international economic order. Correcting imbalances in international reserve currencies and fortifying administration of cross-national economic organizations will mitigate the effects of soft budget constraint.

Batroxobin Against Anoxic Damage of Rat Hippocampal Neurons in Culture:Morphological Changes and Hsp70 Expression

Batroxobin,the thrombin-like enzyme,is used for therapeutic defibrination. We have found that batroxobin has good therapeutic effect in ischemic reperfusion rats and clinical practices in vivo. But we have not studied the neuroprotective effect of batroxobin on anoxic hippocampal neurons in vitro. The purpose of this study was to obtain further information on the mechanism of the batroxobin-induced neuroprotection and examine the neuroprotective effect on neurons exposed to anoxia. The effect of batroxobin on anoxic damages in cultured hippocampal neurons of neonatal rats was investigated by using morphological changes and heat shock protein 70Kd (Hsp70) immunoreactive expression as indicators. The results indicate that batroxobin, besides its defibrination, may have a direct neuroprotective effect on anoxic damage of hippocampal neurons.

Work-up and management of a high-risk patient with primary central nervous system lymphoma

Primary central nervous system lymphoma(PCNSL) is a rare disorder that, in 95% of cases, represents diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. As such, making an accurate diagnosis is important. At present, stereotactic-guided biopsy is a recognized method of choice for tissue analysis. However, the diagnostic work-up for high-risk patients is determined by their performance status. Here,we report a case of PCNSL in a high-risk patient, for whom diagnosis was established by cerebrospinal fluid cytology and flow cytometry, which significantly shortened a diagnostic work-up period and allowed for the immediate treatment of the patient.

Globalization or Isolation？—— Ricardo＇s Model

Through the attempt to clarify justifiable economic circumstances where a policy of globalization and/or a policy of national isolation is proven valid, the author revealed in this thesis that there are two such economic phases： An economy where the theory of comparative advantage, proposed by David Ricardo, is applicable, and an economy where the theory is not applicable. The author applied his original approach to prove the validity of Ricardo＇s comparative advantage theory, and found that the theory can be justified only when a macro economy is in the primal problem phase, where a policy of globalization is effective. It is a necessary and sufficient condition for the theory to be valid. In other words, Ricardo＇s theory of comparative advantage is not applicable when a macro economy is in the dual problem phase, where a policy of national isolation, instead of that of globalization, is valid. The primal problem phase and the dual problem phase of a macro economy, called in this thesis by the author, are a version of an expression quite common in OR （operations research）.

Controlling Chaos in Neuron Based on Lasalle Invariance Principle

A new control law is proposed to asymptotically stabilize the chaotic neuron system based on LaSalleinvariant principle.The control technique does not require analytical knowledge of the system dynamics and operateswithout an explicit knowledge of the desired steady-state position.The well-known modified Hodgkin-Huxley (MHH)and Hindmarsh-Rose (HR) model neurons are taken as examples to verify the implementation of our method.Simulationresults show the proposed control law is effective.The outcome of this study is significant since it is helpful to understandthe learning process of a human brain towards the information processing,memory and abnormal discharge of the brainneurons.

Computer Vision Applied to Recognition Barcodes

The bar code is one of the identification technologies used more successfully in the world. This technology was first developed as the second half of the twentieth century and quickly achieved acceptance in both industry and commerce. In this paper studies are discussed on the design, development and printing of one-dimensional barcodes of the symbologies Code 39 and Interleaved 2 of 5. There are also discussed techniques for recovering the information encoded in the bar code, which can be extended to other symbologies. The purpose of the paper is the development of an open solution with the objective to make the decoding of barcodes using computer vision techniques possible, which will be divided into four basic stages： acquisition, pre-processing, processing and presentation of results. Practical tests conducted with samples show satisfactory results, validating the operating principles of the elements involved. The proposed objective was achieved and practical tests validated the operating principles of the elements addressed by providing contribution to that segment decoding barcodes.

Quality oriented value and performance drivers

The quality endeavors of an organization, like other enterprise activities, must be oriented towards the economic principles. This approach gives a way to many organizations to question the extent to which the quality management contributes for the overall business success and to pin point the areas where particularly a high value or performance can be created in order to attain the maximum possible economic benefits out of quality management systems. Without including the answer of this question in the decision making process, the resources can not be allocated optimally for the quality purpose. Quality management activities create variety of effects that indirectly contributes towards the economic success and thus increase the company and stakeholder value. For an understanding of response relationships, it is necessary to consider in detail the indicators along the response relationships. They provide helpful clues and give an insight into the complex mechanisms of action of the quality approaches on the path to the company＇s success. The following illustration depicts how the quality based activities generate the value to enhance the performance and a variety of indicators reflects how they indirectly add value to an organization and hence contribute to its economic success.

The Causes of Contagion： Rational or Irrational Behavior？

The threats concerning financial stability seriously affect the overall functioning of the economy at a local, regional, national, and continental level instead of a global level, and therefore, the emphasis is laid on analyzing the causes and effects of such threats. Financial crises in the current decade, as well as those in the past have shown that a major cause of instability in the global market is the so-called financial contagion. This leads to a natural question： whether similar authorities could specify and mitigate these shocks through efficient calculation followed by stability measures taken by banking networks. To answer this question, an empirical research was conducted by analyzing the degree of contagion induced by markets in Central and Eastern Europe, based on an econometric model, involving over 17 European countries, from January 2006 to January 2013.

Causes and Solutions of Administrative Departments＇ Economic Policy Ineffectiveness

Administrative department, as the focus of national political system reform, is associated with optimization and adjustment of state institutions and plays a macro-control role in socialist economic development. Administrative departments, just the ＂government＂, conduct economic control function to promote the sustainable development of social economic causes. The thesis firstly introduces administrative departments＇ era effect and causes of administrative departments＇ economic policy ineffectiveness. And on the basis of these, the thesis comes up with some solutions to solve economic ineffectiveness, hoping that it would be helpful to relevant researches.

Allocation of Inter-Industry Environmental Responsibilities Based on Economic Benefits： Principles and Indicators

Rational inter-industry allocation of environmental responsibilities has great significance to instituting effective policies on industrial environment and transforming the pattern of economic development. From the perspective of economic benefit and industrial linkage, this paper discusses the issue of inter-industry allocation of environmental responsibilities. Based on input-output model and three responsibility principles （producer responsibility, consumer responsibility and shared responsibility）, this paper develops seven industrial environmental responsibility indicators and conducts an empirical analysis on the S02 emission responsibilities at China＇s industry level. Results indicate that all these indicators can avoid the double calculation of environmental responsibilities and results using different indicators have significant differences. Some industries such as power, heat production and supply may have little difference of the relative ranking of environmental responsibility under different indicators, but the magnitude of specific assumed responsibilities may have significant changes. Environmental responsibilities of some other industries （such as construction） may seem not important under certain indicators but can be among the most significant under some other indicators. More importantly, despite close connections between these indicators, they reflect different mechanisms of environmental responsibility allocation and have totally different policy significance.

Efficacy impacts of psychological factors on primary dysmenorrhea treated with acupuncture

Objective To explore the relationship between psychological factors and efficacy of acupuncture on primary dysmenorrhea. Methods Sixty cases of primary dysmenorrhea were observed. Before acupuncture treatment, the self-designed confidence questionnaire was used to assess patients＇ confidence in acupuncture efficacy. Visual Analogue Scale （VAS） was adopted to assess patients＇ tension level during acupuncture. Self-rating anxiety scale （SAS） and self-rating depression scale （SDS） were applied to assess the situations of patients＇ anxiety and depression. Eysenck＇s personality questionnaire （EPQ） and Cattell sixteen personality factors questionnaire （16PF） were provided to assess the personal characters of patients. Pain intensity, pain duration and accompanied symptoms were recorded before and after acupuncture treatment so as to assess the efficacy. Canonical correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the psychological factors and acupuncture efficacy on primary dysmenorrhea. Results There were significant differences in grading of dysmenorrhea, pain intensity score and pain duration after treatment as compared statistically with those before treatment （all P〈0.001）. The standardized coefficients of dominance （r=0.679 7） and anxiety （r=-0.590 6） in personality factors and the reduction of pain duration （r=-0.904 2） among efficacy indices were the highest. The overall correlation coefficients were all lower between the indices of psychological factors and canonical variables of dysmenorrhea efficacy. Conclusion Acupuncture efficacy on primary dysmenorrhea has a certain correlation with dominance and anxiety of patients＇ personality factors. But, the psychological factors do not play a leading role in acupuncture treatment.
