Parvovirus B19 induced acute hepatitis and hepatic failure have been previously reported, mainly in children. Very few cases of parvovirus induced hepatic failure have been reported in adults and fewer still have required liver transplantation. We report the case of a 55-year-old immunocompetent woman who developed fulminant hepatic failure after acute infection with Parvovirus B19 who subsequently underwent orthotopic liver transplantation. This is believed to be the first reported case in the literature in which an adult patient with fulminant hepatic failure associated with acute parvovirus B19 infection and without hematologic abnormalities has been identified prior to undergoing liver transplantation. This case suggests that Parvovirus B19 induced liver disease can affect adults, can occur in the absence of hematologic abnormalities and can be severe enough to require liver transplantation. 展开更多

1,3-Propanediol,traditionally obtained from fossils,has numerous industrial applications,including use in the production of high performance polymers.The microbial production of 1,3-propanediol presents several opport... 1,3-Propanediol,traditionally obtained from fossils,has numerous industrial applications,including use in the production of high performance polymers.The microbial production of 1,3-propanediol presents several opportunities,and the final purity grade determines its price and commercial viability.The development of novel separation technology could improve the economic viability of the bioproduction of 1,3-propanediol.Thus,we investigated salting-out extraction as a novel process for 1,3-propanediol recovery from fermentation broth.Initially,a screening for the best salt/solvent combination was conducted and then optimized using the response surface methodology.The solvents studied were methanol,ethanol,isopropanol and acetone,and the salts examined were K_2HPO_4,Na_2CO_3,K_2CO_3,(NH_4)_2SO_4,NaHPO_4,K_3PO_4 and C_6H_5NaO_7.The optimal extraction system consisted of 34 wt%K_3PO_4,28 wt% ethanol,and 38 wt% fermentation broth containing 23.0 g·L^(-1)1,3-propanediol,which gave the highest partition coefficient of 33 and recovery yield of 97%.The results demonstrated that salting-out extraction was a promising method for 1,3-propanediol recovery from fermentation broth. 展开更多

Most patients with trauma-hemorragic shock, prior to ICU admission, have been resuscitated and stabilized in the emergency room (ER) and/or operation room (OR). Many of them suffer from systemic edema. This extra-vascular fluid is caused by massive infusion of fluid and blood for the maintenance of blood pressure. During the recovery stage, the patients exhibit spontaneous diuresis followed by negative fluid balance. Urine volumes of some patients are more than 10000 ml/d. Do we need to maintain a balance between daily input and output of water at this situation? There are many references in the medical literature and textbooks about fluid resuscitation and the principles in maintaining the balance between input and output of water, but rarely about when and how to restrict it, that is, when and how to permit a negative balance. In this retrospective review, we examined the resuscitation records of 205 patients with systemic edema after trauma-hemorragic shock. 展开更多

Survival of patients with childhood hematological malignancies has increased markedly in the past decades. To examine the finescale details of how this progress has occurred, we carried out KaplanMeier causespecific survival analysis using the Surveillance Epi demiology and End Results (SEER) dataset for patients with childhood hematologi cal malignancies Hodgkin's Lymphoma, NonHodgkin's Lymphoma, Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Myeloid Leukemia diagnosed in five eras: 1983-1987; 1988-1992; 1993-1997; 1998-2002 and 2003-2007. We generated KaplanMeier estimates of survival for each of the first 24 years after diagnosis. These figures agree with previously reported five and tenyear values and attest to the remarkable increase in survival that has occurred over the past three decades of medical progress. The trend towards progres sively increasing survival shows no sign of slowing, suggesting that we may expect further increases in survival in the years ahead. Most of the increase in survival for childhood hematological malignancies has occurred by reducing the risk of death in the first two years after diagnosis. This may be largely explained by the fact that this is the time period when patients are at highest risk of death. 展开更多

On the basis of studying the traditional hydraulic coke cutting monitoring system, the optical fiber acoustic emission sensor has been applied in the hydraulic coke cutting monitoring system for the first time, researching the monitoring signal of the optical fiber acoustic emission sensor in the system. The actual test results show that using the acoustic emission sensor in the hydraulic coke cutting monitoring system can get the real-time and accurate hydraulic coke cutting state and the effective realization of hydraulic coke cutting automatic monitoring in the Wuhan Branch of Sinopec. 展开更多
