Seldom were the effects of environmental factors on the drying-shrinkage deformation of cement-based ma-terial considered. For this paper, the drying-shrinkage deformation at different w/b ratios and different additions to mor-tars was investigated under different environments at a temperature of 20 ℃ and humidity ranging from 100% to 50%. The specimens were cured in water for 28 days before measurement. The results illustrate that mortar shows much less shrinkage under various drying conditions when a lower w/b ratio is adopted. With a decrease in relative humidity the speed of drying-shrinkage becomes gradually lower. The addition of silica fume reduces the drying-shrinkage of mortar under higher relative humidity, because the pore structure of mortar with silica fume becomes more refined. The addi-tion of fly ash increases the total porosity and the volume of coarse pores in the mortar. The drying-shrinkage of mortar under different conditions increases with the addition of more of fly ash.展开更多

Based on the results of the present study and published literature, we found that the glaciers shrank :5.7% in area from 1963 to 20:0 with an annual area change of -0.33%. The shrinkage generally decreased from peripheral mountain ranges to the interior of Tibet. The linear trends of annual air temperature and precipitation at 147 stations were 0.36℃(10a)^-1 and 8.96 mm (10a)^-1 respectively from 1961 to 2010. The shrinkage of glaciers was well correlated with the rising temperature and the spatial patterns of the shrinkage were influenced by other factors superimposed on the rising temperature such as glacier size, type, elevation, debris cover and precipitation.展开更多

The simulation results show that a sudden expansion of cross section has remarkable mixing intensification effect within a limited period(on the sub-second scale) or tube-length(on the millimeter scale), corresponding to the generation of considerable local vortices determined by both the flow capacity and the ratio of cross section change; a sudden contraction of cross section has instantaneous but weak mixing intensification effect; through introducing a local expansion structure with proper length, as the combination of sudden expansion and sudden contraction, their mixing intensification effects could be superposed. Besides, the rationality and importance are experimentally verified to explore the time profile of mixing intensity and carry out the vortex analysis by simulation for enhancing the selectivity of a complicated reaction system. These progresses may lead to more meaningful quantitative description of mixing process in a flow microreactor for some specific chemical processes.展开更多

This index, namely VHFI, was defined as the very high frequency (VHF) component of the power spectrum normalized to represent its relative value in proportion to the total power minus the very low frequency component. Methods Patients (n = 130) were divided into a study group, consisting 66 patients with decreased left ventricular systolic function, and a control group, consisting 64 patients with normal heart structure and function and without severe coronary artery stenosis (〈 50%). Results VHFI in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group (19.17 ± 13.35 vs 11.37 ± 10.77, P 〈 0.001). Cardiac events occurred in 18 patients during follow-up (33.34 i 3.26 months). Defining the positive test as VHFI =15 and negative test as VHFI 〈15, achieved a sensitivity of 57.58% and a specificity of78.13% for predicting decreased left ventricular systolic function, and achieved a sensitivity of 66.67% and a specificity of 64.29% for predicting cardiac events. Univariate Cox regression analysis showed that positive VHFI test was an independent variable in predictive cardiac events. Conclusions The results suggest that VHFI is a useful tool for quick evaluation of left ventricular systolic function and prediction of prognosis展开更多
