This paper analyzes the fuzzy variable structure control algorithms for delay systems and describes the compensation mechanism of the integral factor to the effect of the delay. Based on the linearized model of the congestion-avoidance flow-control mode of transmission control protocol (TCP), we present delay control algorithms for active queue management (AQM) and discuss the parameter tuning of the algorithms. The NS (network simulator) simulation results show that the proposed control scheme for the nonlinear TCP/AQM model has good performance and robustness with respect to the uncertainties of the round-trip time (RTT) and the number of active TCP sessions. Compared to other similar schemes, our algorithms perform better in terms of packet loss ratio, throughput and butter fluctuation. 展开更多

The model reference adaptive control was combined with the variable structure control to design a model reference variable structure (MRVS) control system whose control structure is simple and can be realized easily. A few possible damage patterns and the definition of the failure of the smart structures are given. It is pointed out that more attentions should be paid to the functional failures o f smart structures. The effects on the control the static deformation due to par tial debonding of PZT actuators are analyzed by the finite element method. Preli minary numerical results show that partial debonding of PZT actuators may have a p preciate reduction on their actuating ability thus reducing the control ability and accuracy of the smart structures. 展开更多

In this work,a variable structure control(VSC)technique is proposed to achieve satisfactory robustness for unstable processes.Optimal values of unknown parameters of VSC are obtained using Whale optimization algorithm which was recently reported in literature.Stability analysis has been done to verify the suitability of the proposed structure for industrial processes.The proposed control strategy is applied to three different types of unstable processes including non-minimum phase and nonlinear systems.A comparative study ensures that the proposed scheme gives superior performance over the recently reported VSC system.Furthermore,the proposed method gives satisfactory results for a cart inverted pendulum system in the presence of external disturbance and noise. 展开更多

An adaptive variable structure control method based on backstepping is proposed for the attitude maneuver problem of rigid spacecraft with reaction wheel dynamics in the presence of uncertain inertia matrix and external disturbances. The proposed control approach is a combination of the backstepping and the adaptive variable structure control. The cascaded structure of the attitude maneuver control system with reaction wheel dynamics gives the advantage for applying the backstepping method to construct Lyapunov functions. The robust stability to external disturbances and parametric uncertainty is guaranteed by the adaptive variable structure control. To validate the proposed control algorithm, numerical simulations using the proposed approach are performed for the attitude maneuver mission of rigid spacecraft with a configuration consisting of four reaction wheels for actuator and three magnetorquers for momentum unloading. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm. 展开更多

To track the rapidly changing temperature profiles of thermal cycling of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) accurately, an innovative feedforward variable structural proportional-integral-derivative (FVSPID) controller was developed. Based on the step response test data of the heat block, a reduced first order model was estabfished at different operating points. Based on the reduced model, the FVSPID controller combined a feedforward path with the variable structural proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control. The modified feedforward action provided directly the optimal predictive power for the desired setpoint to speed up the dynamic response. To cooperate with the feedforward action, a variable structural PID was applied, where the P mode was used in the case of the largest errors to speed up response, whereas the PD mode was used in the case of larger errors to suppress overshoot, and finally the PID mode was applied for small error conditions to eliminate the steady state offset. Experimental results illustrated that compared to the conventional PID controller, the FVSPID controller can not only reduce the time taken to complete a standard PCR protocol, but also improve the accuracy of gene amplification. 展开更多

To study the approximation theory of real sliding mode and the design of variable structure controller for time-invariant linear uncertain time-delay singular system,the approximation theory of real sliding mode was developed to provide foundation for obtaining sliding mode by equivalent control,and switching functions with integral dynamic compensators and variable structure controllers were designed respectively under two circumstances that the system without uncertain part was stabilized by delay-dependent and delay-independent linear state feedback. The design guarantees the asymptotical stablity of switching manifolds,and the variable structure controllers can force solution trajectory of the system to arrive at the switching manifolds in limited time. This approach aims to address the tradeoff between good performance and robustness with respect to the uncertainties of the round-trip time and the number of active connections. Ns simulations results show that the proposed design significantly outperforms the peer AQM schemes in terms of fluctuation in the queue length, packet throughput, and loss ratio. The conclusion is that proposed scheme is in favor of the achievement to AQM objectives due to its good transient and steady performance. 展开更多

The descriptor Markovian jump systems( DMJSs)with partially unknown transition probabilities( PUTPs) are studied by means of variable structure control. First,by virtue of the strictly linear matrix inequality( LMI) technique,a sufficient condition is presented, under which the DMJSs subject to PUTPs are stochastically admissible. Secondly,a novel sliding surface function based on the system state and input is constructed for DMJSs subject to PUTPs; and a dynamic sliding mode controller is synthesized, which guarantees that state trajectories will reach the pre-specified sliding surface in finite time despite uncertainties and disturbances. The results indicate that by checking the feasibility of a series of LMIs,the stochastic admissibility of the overall closed loop system is determined. Finally,the validity of the theoretical results is illustrated with the example of the direct-current motor. Furthermore,compared with the existing literature,the state convergence rate,buffeting reduction and overshoot reduction are obviously optimized. 展开更多

A dual-stage control system design method is presented for the three-axis-rotational maneuver and vibration stabilization of a spacecraft with flexible appendages embedded with piezoceramics as sensor and actuator. In this design approach, the attitude control and the vibration suppression sub-systems are designed separately using the lower order model. The design of attitude controller is based on the variable structure control (VSC) theory leading to a discontinuous control law. This controller accomplishes asymptotic attitude maneuvering in the closed-loop system and is insensitive to the interaction of elastic modes and uncertainty in the system. To actively suppress the flexible vibrations, the modal velocity feedback control method is presented by using piezoelectric materials as additional sensor and actuator bonded on the surface of the flexible appendages. In addition, a special configuration of actuators for three-axis attitude control is also investigated: the pitch attitude controlled by a momentum wheel, and the roll/yaw control achieved by on-off thrusters, which is modulated by pulse width pulse frequency modulation technique to construct the proper control torque history. Numerical simulations performed show that the rotational maneuver and vibration suppression are accomplished in spite of the presence of disturbance torque and parameter uncertainty. 展开更多

A sliding mode and active disturbance rejection control(SM-ADRC)was employed to regulate the speed of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM).The major advantages of the proposed control scheme are that it can maintain the original features of ADRC and make the parameters of ADRC transition smoothly.The proposed control scheme also ensures speed control accuracy and improves the robustness and anti-load disturbance ability of the system.Moreover,through the analysis of a d-axis current output equation,a novel current-loop SM-ADRC is presented to improve the system’s dynamic performance and inner ability of anti-load disturbance.Results of a simulation and experiments show that the improved sliding-mode ADRC system has the advantages of fast response,small overshoot,small steady-state error,wide speed range and high control accuracy.It shows that the system has strong anti-interference ability to reduce the influence of variations in rotational inertia,load and internal parameters. 展开更多

High temperature tensile properties and microstructure evolutions of twin-roll-cast AZ31B magnesium alloy were investigated over a strain rate range from 10-3 to 1 s-1.It is suggested that the dominant deformation mechanism in the lower strain rate regimes is dislocation creep controlled by grain boundary diffusion at lower temperature and by lattice diffusion at higher temperatures,respectively.Furthermore,dislocation glide and twinning are dominant deformation mechanisms at higher strain-rate.The processing map,the effective diffusion coefficient and activation energy map of the alloy were established.The relations of microstructure evolutions to the transition temperature of dominant diffusion process,the activation energy platform and the occurrence of the full dynamic recrystallization with the maximum peak efficiency were analyzed.It is revealed that the optimum conditions for thermo-mechanical processing of the alloy are at a temperature range from 553 to 593 K,and a strain rate range from 7×10-3 to 2×10-3 s-1. 展开更多
