Nicotine enhances migration and invasion of human esophageal squamous carcinoma cells which is inhibited by nimesulide

AIM： To study the effect of nicotine on the migration and invasion of human esophageal squamous carcinoma cells and to investigate whether nimesulide can inhibit the effect of nicotine.METHODS： The esophageal squamous carcinoma cell line （TE-13） was treated with different concentrations of nicotine （100 μg/mL and 200 μg/mL） or 200 μg/mL nicotine plus 100 μmol/L nimesulide. Cell migration and invasion were measured using migration and invasion chamber systems. COX-2 expression was determined by Western blotting. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 （MMP-2） was analyzed by zymography and ELISA.RESULTS： Nicotine （100 μg/mL, 200 μg/mL） enhanced TE-13 cells migration and invasion, and increased the protein expression of COX-2 and the activity of MMP-2. Nicotine （200 μ/mL） stimulated TE-13 cells migration and invasion which were partly blocked by nimesulide. This was associated with decreased protein expression of COX-2 and decreased activity and protein expression of MMP-2. CONCLUSION： Nicotine enhances the migration and invasion of the esophageal squamous carcinoma cell line, and nimesulide partly blocks the effect ofnicotine-enhanced esophageal squamous carcinoma cell migration and invasion.

Caring for Unclean Animals in Ancient Israel： An Ecological Perspective

In view of the biblical kosher law of clean and unclean animals, the question of whether unclean animals could be reared or not in Ancient Israel becomes an ecological concern （Lev. 7：21; 11：26） for religious bodies today who still consider certain animals as unclean. A theological study of the law in the Pentateuch suggests that, in Ancient Israel, unclean animals were well catered for. Physical contact with live unclean animals did not render one unclean. Rather, uncleanness could be acquired through the touching of the carcass of clean or unclean animals （11：24-28, 38-39）. As part of their stewardship ordained by God （Gen. 1：26）, the people of Israel touched and reared/cared for unclean animals. Amongst other things, analysis of Gen. 1：26, in the Hebrew text, indicates that the primary purpose of human creation, as cosmic stewards over all creatures （including unclean animals）, is underlined. Hence, contemporary religious bodies, who still consider certain animals as unclean, should have an unfeigned care and positive attitude towards all unclean animals.

Yogic Prescription for Corporate Wellness and Excellence

Yoga has been practiced as a complete way of life management and ecological harmony for time immemorial. Successful companies across the globe like Microsoft, IBM, and PepsiCo etc., have incorporated yoga or spirituality at their workplaces for employees＇ wellness and organizational excellence. In contemporary scenario, scientific researches on yoga that substantiate its positive impacts at bodily, psychic, societal, spiritual and organizational level have been made abundantly. However, there is a lack of an innovative yogic model that is holistic and supportive to boost corporate wellness （CW） and excellence （CE）. So the basic aim of this paper is to propose a yogic prescription CYP） for the corporate wellness and excellence that needs to be tested in future researches.

Comparative Evaluation of Pharmacist-Managed Vancomycin Dosing in a Community Hospital Following Implementation of a System-Wide Vancomycin Dosing Guideline

Purpose： Evaluate the implementation of a large hospital system vancomycin dosing guideline in a community hospital with pharmacist vancomycin management. Design： Single center, retrospective and prospective quality assessment study. Methods： Pharmacist-managed vancomycin therapy was evaluated pre and post-implementation of a new dosing guideline in a study population of 586 from one community hospital. Results： Of the study population, 274 patients evaluated pre-implementation were compared to 312 patients post-implementation of the large hospital-system guideline （46.8% and 53.2%, respectively）. There was no significant difference in demographics between both patient populations. Days of vancomycin therapy was shorter in the post-implementation group （4.32 ＋ 2.241） versus the pre-implementation group [（4.81 ±2.764）, p = 0.018]. Days to goal trough was longer in the post-implementation group （3.51 ±1.622） compared to the pre-implementation group [（3.09 ±2.046）, p = 0.054]. A post-hoe regression analysis was conducted, showing that age, days of vancomycin therapy and goal trough are predictors for 77% of cases within the post-implementation group. Conclusion： The implementation of a new vancomycin dosing guideline significantly impacted days of vancomycin therapy and days to goal trough in patients on vancomycin managed by pharmacists. Our results encourage completion of future studies utilizing the regression analysis data, which may impact the future care of patient on vancomycin managed by pharmacists.

You can see the way scholars will not have feared in the study of financial regulation, and each theory proposed has its special significance in the special economic and financial environment at the time, and we can not necessarily say what kind of theory is advanced in other theory.

An Assessment of Strategies for Cultural Heritage Management and Tourism Development in the Eyasi Basin, Northern Tanzania

This paper assesses the manner in which a local community has been incorporated into the management and utilization of cultural heritage resources in the lake Eyasi basin, northern Tanzania, in order to reduce poverty. One of the most important programs used to encourage rural developments is the outlay of cultural tourism. Lake Eyasi region is one of the few regions in Tanzania with brilliant cultural heritage resources including archaeological sites and distinctive indigenous cultural traits that cannot be seen in other places across Eastern Africa. Archaeological records of this region exhibit the earliest evidence for hominin morphological change from archaic to modem humans. It is also coherent key development traits including complex lithic technologies and artistic imaginations as it is the case for all living people. Ethnographic research in the region sheds light on the living standards of a modem foraging community that has consistently relied on wildlife resources for several decades. Both archaeological and ethnographical aspects have made this region an enduring attraction for tourists to seek a unique experience and gain an appreciation for the past. Even though there are positive impacts of tourism on rural development, there are potential challenges that need immediate attention.

Plinthite and Its Associated Evolutionary Forms in Soils and Landscapes:A Review

At elevated temperature regimes and abundant precipitation, mobilization and accretion of weathered iron oxides are promoted especially in a reduced environments in the tropics. This may lead to the formation of plinthite, which hardens irreversibly upon repeated wetting and drying to form petroplinthite. The need for this review stems from the seemingly dearth of information on the subject and a need to clarify different terms used in describing plinthite. We review various research works on plinthite and its associated pedogenic forms in the tropics. Furthermore, we proffer recommendations as to the most appropriate land use management practices that could help minimise the environmental and agronomic problems associated with plinthite and its related pedogenic forms. Parent material, temperature, seasonality and geomorphology are critical factors that influence soil water regime which in turn affect the pedogenesis of plinthite. Soil pH and mineralogy are additional factors that could also promote plinthite formation. Fossil plinthic soils are potential proxies for palaeoenvironmental reconstruction. Measures used in the management of plinthic soils include mechanically breaking the hardpans and the use of organic and inorganic amendments to modify the structure and chemistry of the soils. Avoidance of practices that would predispose soils to erosion would also prevent plinthization. We call for the relinquishment of the term ＂[aterite＂ which is a generM term for all forms of iron oxide-enriched earthy materials as used for plinthite. Plinthic horizon should also be incorporated into the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Taxonomy in view of its growing importance in soils.
