德川日本儒者荻生徂徕以古文辞学作为其儒家经典诠释的重要方法论。"辞"不是单纯的字词或概念的拼凑组合,古文辞是指西汉以前的古文献所构成的一套成文系统和言说系统,其中有丰富的古圣人的"古言"和"古义&quo... 德川日本儒者荻生徂徕以古文辞学作为其儒家经典诠释的重要方法论。"辞"不是单纯的字词或概念的拼凑组合,古文辞是指西汉以前的古文献所构成的一套成文系统和言说系统,其中有丰富的古圣人的"古言"和"古义",所以藉由古文辞学的方法就可重新把握圣人之道,他将此方法归结为"以古言征古义"。但是他以所谓的古言古义欲对儒家经典进行诠释之际,其实已有思想上的立场预设;更重要的是,当他用"以古言征古义"来反对"以今言视古言"之际,"古言"不免被绝对化,这就有可能走向"以古言视今言"的另一极端,其结果必将造成对古今文化的历史性连续的切割,从而使其思想蒙上了非历史性的色彩。 展开更多

Nicholas Poppe, Francis Cleaves, and T. Namjil wrote articles about this, and assumed the Mongolian version of Alexander Romance was translated from Central Asian countries, more likely, Persian or Arabic, did not come up with determinate conclusion, though. In this paper, the authors aim at: (1) comparing the Mongolian version of Alexander Romance with the folktales about Alexander the Great in Persian language, which two are supposed to be the nearest; (2) analyzing the story structure (quest for immortality-denying the desire; belief of living forever-the truth of one must die); and (3) explaining the background of Mongolian version of Alexander Romance, and as a result, arguing that the Mongolian version of Alexander Romance might not be a translated work; instead, it was edited and recreated in Buddhist thinking using the prevailing motif of Alexander's quest for immortality. 展开更多

This study aims to examine the relations between languages of antiquity and some words in Homer's epics, Iliad and Odyssey, that are considered the first written texts and important in terms of the richness of Greek vocabulary. Although the words in Homeric epics carry a value for ancient Anatolia, there are no studies in this field in our eotmtry. For this purpose, with the help of words we have, we will focus on: (a) bond of these words with Hittite, partially (b) some archaic qualities for some Latin words, developed later and also continued of some ground and phrases in the everyday life in the same region for centuries on the language of the people depending on the oral transmission. At the end of the study, we will discuss the changes of the words in philological level as well as in terms of the letter, sounds and meaning by used words in Homer's epics as will be explained in this study. 展开更多

However, as most of the animal image... The thesis aims to explain the functions of componential analysis to animal images in The Classic of Mountains and Seas. It serves as a treasure to the tremendous Chinese classics. However, as most of the animal images in the classic book are rarely seen in daily life, translation of animal images in the ancient Chinese book remains a hard nut to crack. In this case, explicit and accurate interpretation of these culture-loaded items is crucial to make readers understand. However, few previous studies touched upon this area. In this case, componential analysis serves as a solution. As an effective approach for analyzing semantic components, componential analysis is an effective way to break down semantic components of words and make them easily understood. In the previous studies, papers relating translation to componential analysis were not the majority. Among them, few papers are concerning application of componential analysis to the translation of literary works. In this essay, the analysis of animal images could be interpreted in lexical and textual level respectively. In this case, componential analysis bridges the gap for culture differences and enables readers of target language to savor the beauty. Therefore, readers of the target language can enjoy alien cultures of ancient China by reading this translated version. 展开更多

An Investigation of Teacher and Learner Beliefs About English Teaching and Learning for Mongolian University Students

It has been widely agreed that the approaches teachers apply to language teaching, the attitudes students have, their motivation and target language proficiency are directly influenced or determined by their beliefs about language teaching and language learning respectively. This paper reports on a study which explored Mongolian teacher, Han teacher and Mongolian learner beliefs about the English teaching and learning of Inner Mongolian university students, with particular focus on the students' second language ability, the languages for classroom instruction and materials development. The results of the study indicate that there are belief differences among teachers and students; in particular, the beliefs of the Han teachers differ from those of Mongolian students. This study concludes that in order to improve Mongolian students' English teaching and learning, it is of vital importance to fill the belief discrepancy between teachers and students with regard to L3 acquisition, which is regarded as one of the crucial factors influencing the teaching and learning of English for Mongolian students in multilingual contexts in Inner Mongolia, China. 展开更多
