Lam.). The growth...Graft can induce inheritable variations in the progenies of the scion plants. Seedling of mungbean ( Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) was grafted onto the stem of sweet potato ( Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.). The growth of the scion was maintained until the scion produced selfed seeds. We sowed the seeds for several generations under normal conditions. Distinct genetic variations appeared in the progenies. Similar variations did not appear in the generations of the scion sowed normally without graft. The variations seemed to be induced by the graft and they inherited steadily. For understanding the possible mechanism of the phenomenon (graft_induced inheritable variation), we analyzed the cytoplasmic and genomic DNA of the variations. The results showed that there was no restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) in the cytoplasmic DNA between the original scion and the variation. However, significant difference between the scion and variation was recognized by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis. In addition, there was no evidence that indicated the gene transformation from stock to scion. Our results suggest that the non_specific grafting has a pragmatic potential for plant breeding and crop improvement and, the genetic variation seems not to be caused simply by DNA transformation but most likely the stress induced mutation.展开更多

The Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii), indigenous to China, became an endangered species because of considerable reduction both in number and distribution during the 20th century. Presently, it is listed as an...The Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii), indigenous to China, became an endangered species because of considerable reduction both in number and distribution during the 20th century. Presently, it is listed as an Appendix Ⅰ species by CITES and as Category I by the Key Protected Wildlife List of China. Understanding the genetic diversity and population structure of the Tibetan antelope is significant for the development of effective conservation plans that will ensure the recovery and future persistence of this species. Twenty-five microsatellites were selected to obtain loci with sufficient levels of polymorphism that can provide information for the analysis of population structure. Among the 25 loci that were examined, nine of them showed high levels of genetic diversity. The nine variable loci (MCM38, MNS64, IOBT395, MCMAL TGLA68, BM1329, BMSI341, BM3501, and MB066) were used to examine the genetic diversity of the Tibetan antelope (n = 75) in Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve(HXNNR), Qinghai, China. The results obtained by estimating the number of population suggested that all the 75 Tibetan antelope samples were from the same population. The mean number of alleles per locus was 9.4 ± 0.5300 (range, 7-12) and the mean effective number of alleles was 6.519± 0.5271 (range, 4.676-9.169). The observed mean and expected heterozygosity were 0.844 ± 0.0133 (range, 0.791-0.897) and 0.838 ± 0.0132 (range, 0.786-0.891), respectively. Mean Polymorphism Information Content (PIC) was 0.818 ± 0.0158 (range, 0.753-0.881). The value of Fixation index (Fis) ranged from -0.269 to -0.097 with the mean of -0.163 ± 0.0197. Mean Shannon's information index was 1.990 ± 0.0719 among nine loci (range, 1.660-2.315). These results provide baseline data for the evaluation of the level of genetic variation in Tibetan antelope, which will be important for the development of conservation strategies in future.展开更多

First, the adjacency matrix method is used to characterize three typical topologies of WSNs including the mesh network, tree network and ribbon network. Secondly, the network function value method is used to evaluate the network connectivity, and the TEST-MC evaluation method is used to evaluate network reliability and availability. Finally, the variations in the reliability, connectivity and availability of these three topologies are presented. Simulation results show that the proposed method can quickly analyze the reliability of the networks containing typical WSN topologies, which provides an effective method for the comprehensive and accurate evaluation of the reliability of WSNs.展开更多

Much interest has been involved in this issue and many effective mechanisms have been proposed. The usual MAC layer solutions include the initial contention window adaptation, the maximum transfer unit size adaptation and the packet bursting. In this paper, we propose a novel approach which introduces a new parameter called the transmission prob- ability pt to the legacy protocol. By adjusting pt according to the transmission rate, the proposed scheme can solve the performance anomaly problem cleanly. Throughput analysis and performance evaluation show that our scheme achieves significant im- provement in the aggregate throughput and the fairness.展开更多

Over 1 500 transgenic fly lines corresponding ...We demonstrate the feasibility of performing a systematic screen for human gene functions in Drosophila by assaying for their ability to induce overexpression phenotypes. Over 1 500 transgenic fly lines corresponding to 236 human genes have been established. In all, 51 lines are capable of eliciting a phenotype suggesting that the human genes are functional. These heterologous genes are functionally relevant as we have found a similar mutant phenotype caused either by a dominant negative mutant form of the human ribosomal protein L8 gene or by RNAi downregulation of the Drosophila RPL8. Significantly, the Drosophila RPL8 mutant can be rescued by wild-type human RPL8. We also provide genetic evidence that Drosophila RPL8 is a new member of the insulin signaling pathway. In summary, the functions of many human genes appear to be highly conserved, and the ability to identify them in Drosophila represents a powerful genetic tool for large-scale analysis of human transcripts in vivo.展开更多
AIM: To study the levels of serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), plasma D-lactate and diamine oxidase (DAO) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and the potential clinical si...AIM: To study the levels of serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), plasma D-lactate and diamine oxidase (DAO) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and the potential clinical significance. METHODS: Sixty-nine patients with IBD and 30 healthy controls were included in this study. The concentration of sICAM-1 was detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the level of D-lactate and DAO was measured by spectroscopic analysis, and the number of white blood cells (WBC) was determined by routine procedure. RESULTS: The levels of sICAM-I, DAO, and WBC in IBD patients were significantly higher than those in the control group (P 〈 0,01), sICAM-I in IBD patients was found to be closely related to the levels of DAO and D-lactate (212.94 ± 69.89 vs 6.35 ± 2.35, P = 0.000), DAO 212.94 ± 69.89 vs 8.65 ± 3.54, P = 0.000) and WBC (212.94 ± 69.89 vs 7.40 ± 2.61, P = 0.000), but no significant difference was observed between patients with ulcerative colitis and patients with Crohn's disease. The post-treatment levels of sICAM-I, D-lactate and WBC were significantly lower than before treatment (sICAM-I 206.57 ± 79.21 vs 146.21 ± 64.43, P = 0.000), (D-lactate 1.46 ± 0.94 vs 0.52± 0.32, P = 0.000) and (WBC 7.24 ± 0.2.33 vs 5.21 ± 3.21, P = 0.000). CONCLUSION: sICAM-1, D-lactate and DAO are closely related to the specific conditions of IBD, and thus could be used as a major diagnostic index.展开更多

In order to save the energy, multi-hop routing between the sensor nodes and the sink node is necessary because of limited resource. In addition, the unpredictable conditional factors make the sensor nodes unreliable. In this paper, the reliability of routing designed for sensor network and some dependability issues of DSN, such as MTTF (mean time to failure) and the probability of connectivity between the sensor nodes and the sink node are analyzed. Unfortunately, we could not obtain the accurate result for the arbitrary network topology, which is #P-hard problem. And the reliability analysis of restricted topologies clustering-based is given. The method proposed in this paper will show us a constructive idea about how to place energy-constrained sensor nodes in the network efficiently from the prospective of reliability.展开更多

Strong effects of composition on bubble departure diameter, deparatre time, nucleation density were observed, which was attributed to the nature of the activation of the boiling surface and mass diffusion effects. The bubble departure diameter, departure period and nucleation density as functions of composition for binary mixtures R 11-R 113 were presented respectively. From the video images, it can be concluded that evaporation of microlayer is very important to the growth of bubble. It is also observed that there is not any liquid recruited into the microlayer below the bubble.展开更多
For the carbon-neutral,a multi-carrier renewable energy system(MRES),driven by the wind,solar and geothermal,was considered as an effective solution to mitigate CO2emissions and reduce energy usage in the building sec...For the carbon-neutral,a multi-carrier renewable energy system(MRES),driven by the wind,solar and geothermal,was considered as an effective solution to mitigate CO2emissions and reduce energy usage in the building sector.A proper sizing method was essential for achieving the desired 100%renewable energy system of resources.This paper presented a bi-objective optimization formulation for sizing the MRES using a constrained genetic algorithm(GA)coupled with the loss of power supply probability(LPSP)method to achieve the minimal cost of the system and the reliability of the system to the load real time requirement.An optimization App has been developed in MATLAB environment to offer a user-friendly interface and output the optimized design parameters when given the load demand.A case study of a swimming pool building was used to demonstrate the process of the proposed design method.Compared to the conventional distributed energy system,the MRES is feasible with a lower annual total cost(ATC).Additionally,the ATC decreases as the power supply reliability of the renewable system decreases.There is a decrease of 24%of the annual total cost when the power supply probability is equal to 8%compared to the baseline case with 0%power supply probability.展开更多

However, it is very difficult to examine changes of the sensitivity of the sensors equipped at the ARGO floats, because it is difficult to understand their condition in the sea and the reliability of the data. Quality control must be done in order to avoid the wrong conclusion deduced from the wrong data. One of the realistic methods for quality control of the ARGO data is the comparison with the local climatology. High quality climatological T-S models in northwest Pacific have been built based on the Nansen bottle data and CTD data for the quality control in NMDIS. The models are used to check the ARGO data in this area and have got good result.展开更多

The post-treatment levels of sICAM-I, D-lactate and WBC were significantly lower than before treatment (sICAM-I 206.57 ± 79.21 vs 146.21 ± 64.43, P = 0.000), (D-lactate 1.46 ± 0.94 vs 0.52± 0.32, P = 0.000) and (WBC 7.24 ± 0.2.33 vs 5.21 ± 3.21, P = 0.000). CONCLUSION: sICAM-1, D-lactate and DAO are closely related to the specific conditions of IBD, and thus could be used as a major diagnostic index.

文摘To Integrate the capacity of sensing, communication, computing, and actuating, one of the compelling technological advances of these years has been the appearance of distributed wireless sensor network (DSN) for information gathering tasks. In order to save the energy, multi-hop routing between the sensor nodes and the sink node is necessary because of limited resource. In addition, the unpredictable conditional factors make the sensor nodes unreliable. In this paper, the reliability of routing designed for sensor network and some dependability issues of DSN, such as MTTF (mean time to failure) and the probability of connectivity between the sensor nodes and the sink node are analyzed. Unfortunately, we could not obtain the accurate result for the arbitrary network topology, which is #P-hard problem. And the reliability analysis of restricted topologies clustering-based is given. The method proposed in this paper will show us a constructive idea about how to place energy-constrained sensor nodes in the network efficiently from the prospective of reliability.

文摘A digital photographic study of pool boiling with binary mixture Rll(CC13)-Rll3(CCl3CF3) was performed on a horizontal transparent heater at pressure of 0.1MPa. A high speed digital camera was applied to record the bubble behaviors in boiling process. Strong effects of composition on bubble departure diameter, deparatre time, nucleation density were observed, which was attributed to the nature of the activation of the boiling surface and mass diffusion effects. The bubble departure diameter, departure period and nucleation density as functions of composition for binary mixtures R 11-R 113 were presented respectively. From the video images, it can be concluded that evaporation of microlayer is very important to the growth of bubble. It is also observed that there is not any liquid recruited into the microlayer below the bubble.

文摘For the carbon-neutral,a multi-carrier renewable energy system(MRES),driven by the wind,solar and geothermal,was considered as an effective solution to mitigate CO2emissions and reduce energy usage in the building sector.A proper sizing method was essential for achieving the desired 100%renewable energy system of resources.This paper presented a bi-objective optimization formulation for sizing the MRES using a constrained genetic algorithm(GA)coupled with the loss of power supply probability(LPSP)method to achieve the minimal cost of the system and the reliability of the system to the load real time requirement.An optimization App has been developed in MATLAB environment to offer a user-friendly interface and output the optimized design parameters when given the load demand.A case study of a swimming pool building was used to demonstrate the process of the proposed design method.Compared to the conventional distributed energy system,the MRES is feasible with a lower annual total cost(ATC).Additionally,the ATC decreases as the power supply reliability of the renewable system decreases.There is a decrease of 24%of the annual total cost when the power supply probability is equal to 8%compared to the baseline case with 0%power supply probability.
文摘By implementing the ARGO program, a large number of T-S profiles can be observed in the world ocean. However, it is very difficult to examine changes of the sensitivity of the sensors equipped at the ARGO floats, because it is difficult to understand their condition in the sea and the reliability of the data. Quality control must be done in order to avoid the wrong conclusion deduced from the wrong data. One of the realistic methods for quality control of the ARGO data is the comparison with the local climatology. High quality climatological T-S models in northwest Pacific have been built based on the Nansen bottle data and CTD data for the quality control in NMDIS. The models are used to check the ARGO data in this area and have got good result.
