Some examples of heritage abuse are given alongside some innovative ways of presenting relics of the past to society. Methodology consists in the scrutinizing of chosen examples, selecting conclusions and a synthetic presentation of research results. The aim is proper protection of historic architectural resources through documentation and dissemination of knowledge. First part is concerned to rejection of old aesthetics values and implementing a new one on example of Brussels' House of the People (the largest work by Victor Horta that opened on 1899 and demolished in 1965 despite a protest of architects) and ridiculous renovation in Krynica, Poland. In second part, it presents tree examples of successful implementation of innovative techniques and technologies as the Pauline fathers realizations of renovation sacred architecture (churches, cloisters), also valuable digital projects of the reconstruction of the vaults and realization of underground Museum in Krakow, Poland (the outstanding creation of the atmosphere of virtual historic reality by the latest audio-visual techniques).展开更多

It discusses two typological models dealing with the basic metaphysical problem concerned with the presence and meaning of transcendence in real human existence. According to the first, the historical reality of secularization causes a break from the collective memory whose roots are in religion. In contrast, the second model considers that despite the deep transformations in the status of religion in a reality of secularization, an experience of historical continuity may also occur there. These models denote the two poles in the argument about the meaning and value of history for modem people. The article suggests a phenomenological analysis of the two models and criticizes their deficiencies. Finally, the "tension model" is outlined as a third alternative that aims at overcoming the binary situation created by the first two in favor of a perspective that necessitates and contains both immanence and transcendence.展开更多

While there is some virtue in previous theories on the history of literature based on the theory of evolution, class struggle and the enlightenment, when it comes to the twenty-first century, the histories of modem Chinese literature used in teaching are farfrom adequate for meeting the developmental needs of the times, society and literature. This is especially so in view of the putting forward of the goals of "putting people first" and "the harmonious society," and the great changes taking place in time and space, the function of literature and aesthetic taste. Hence there is an urgent need to restructure this history and establish a more fair, equal and reasonable system of evaluation. Such a system would have humanism as its highest principle, and truth, goodness and beauty as its three virtues. Its great superiority would be its functional characteristics of universality, transcendence, fairness, and human-centeredness.展开更多
