The enzyme activities of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase from six years old Ginkgo biloba leaves in the potted orchard were induced by four groups of metal ions respectively. The PAL activities and flavonoids content were measured by the UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Changes of the whole year were also studied. The results showed that four groups of metal ion treatments had significant effects on the PAL activities and flavonoids contents in Ginkgo leaves. The treatments with 0.1% and 0.3% FeSO4, 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3% ZnSO4, 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5% MnSO4, 0.1% and 0.4% CuSO4 not only enhanced flavonoids contents, but also extended the optimum harvest dates of ginkgo leaves. The optimum combination was 0.1% FeSO4, 0.2% ZnSO4, 0.3% MnSO4, and 0.4% CuSO4. It could improve flavonoids content up to 1.619 4%. 展开更多

Tetraphenyl-porphyrin iron (FeTPP) was chosen to sensitize Cr doped TiO2 (Cr-TiO2) nanoparticles, a novel multimodified photocatalyst FeTPP-Cr-TiO2 with excellent visible- light photocatalytic activity was successfully synthesized. The FeTPP-Cr-TiO2 microspheres were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electronic microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. The photocatalytic activity of FeTPP-Cr-TiO2 was evaluated by degradations of methylene blue in aqueous solution under irradiation with Xe lamp (150 W). The results showed that the FeTPP-Cr-TiO2 multimodified photocatalyst was anatase phase with high specific surface area (74.7 m^2/g), and exhibited higher photocatalytic degradation efficiency than Cr-TiO2 and FeTPP-TiO2. The photocatalytic degradations of three quinolone antibiotics (lomefioxacin, norfioxacin, and ofioxacin) were further estimated for the feasibility of practical application of catalyst in wastewater treatment. It is desirable that photodegradation of antibiotics with FeTPP-Cr-TiO2 achieved pretty high degradation rates and all followed the pseudo first-order reaction model, and the rate constants k of 3.02×10^-2, 2.81×10^-2, and 3.86×10^-2 min-1 and the half-lifes t1/2 of 22.9, 24.6, and 17.9 min were achieved respectively. 展开更多

In order to differentiate regions, varieties, and parts of tobacco leaves, two pattern recognition methods through pattern classification modeling were developed based on the comprehensive information of ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-VIS) by employing one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA1) and wave range random combination (WRRC) technology from MATLAB. This proposed classification method has never been reported previously and the instrument and operation for this method is much more convenient and efficient than previous reported classification methods. The result of this paper demonstrated that the spectral features extracted by ANOVAI and WRRC methods could be used to differentiate tobacco leaves with different patterns. The ANOVAI method had a training recognition rate range of 75.00-87.50%,4 and a validation recognition rate range of 57.14-100%. The WRRC method had a training recognition rate range of 75.00-94.12% and a validation recognition rate range of 66.67-100%. The ANOVAI method is more convenient and efficient in model developing, while the WRRC method utilizes fewer model variables and is more robust. 展开更多

Quick Fluorescence Method for the Distinguishing of Vegetable Oils

This paper presents the possibilities offered by fluorescence spectroscopy for the identification of vegetable oils such as soybean, sunflower, flax, walnut, corn, almond, sesame, olive and pumpkin oils. The probes under study have been excited with two types of sources: a laser diode (LD) and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) emitting in the UV and in the visible range. Total luminescence spectra were recorded by measuring the emission spectra in the range 350-720 nm at excitation wavelengths from 375 to 450 nm. The excitation-emission matrices have been obtained and two basic fluorescence regions in the visible have been outlined. On this basis the fluorescence spectra of the oils have been subdivided into three categories depending on the prevalence of the fluorescence maxima. The samples show differences in their fluorescence spectra. The latter fact shows that fluorescence spectroscopy can be used for the quick identification of edible oils. The fatty acid, the tocopherol, the beta-carotene and chlorophyll contents in the analyzed oils have been studied. It is shown that some of the types of oils differ significantly from each other by the first derivatives of their fluorescence spectra. There also exist color differences between the groups of vegetable oils under study. 展开更多

The hydrophobic films of TixOy-CmHn. deposited from mixture gases of titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) and oxygen by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) were investigated. The films were investigated by scanning electron microscope ( SEM ), transmission electron microscope ( TEM ), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer ( FTIR), X-Ray diffraction ( XRD ), element analysis ( EA ), ultraviolet visible spectrometer ( UV-Vis), and water contact angle (WCA). The results reveal that the surface of the films is formed by mierosized papillaes aggregated by inorganic and organic phases of complex nanoparticles with size from 50 nm to 200 nm when the discharge power is increased from 40 W to 150 W. All fdms demonstrate the strong broad of Ti-O-Ti stretching vibration at 400 -800cm-1, -CH bending vibration at 1 388 cm -1, and broadening -OH stretching vibration at 3 000-3500 cm-1 With the increase of the discharge power, the asdeposited film changes from amorphous to crystallization. The WCA of the film can be as high as 160°, indicating the hydrophobicity. The films show a similar ultraviolet absorption property as the bulk TiO2 film. The composition of the composition of film deposited at 150 W can be formulated as Tio.302-C1.5H3. Therefore, the composition formula of this hydrophobic film could be expressed as TiO2-C5H10O4.7. It is believed that the complex micro/nano structures of TiO2 and C5H10O4.7 residues are responsible for the observed hydrophobicity and the ultraviolet absorption property of the film. 展开更多

Novel nitrogen doped carbon quantum dots were successfully fabricated by a hydrothermal method wxth eggplam sepals as carbon source. The carbon materials were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-Vis adsorption, Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), fluorescence and the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements, respectively. The carbon quantum dots showed excellent photoluminescence property with high stability in phosphate buffer solution with different pH values from 5 to 9, even in the cell culture medium supplied with the fetal bovine serum. Meanwhile, we also studied the interaction of carbon quantum dots with living HeLa cells with confocal microscopy. Our results indicated that the carbon quantum dots can enter the living HeLa cells by cellular penetration. 展开更多
