The comparative photosynthetic responses to inorganic carbon were investigated in the common intertidal macroalga Ulva lactuca L. along the coast of Shantou between aquatic and aerial state. The inorganic carbon dissolved in seawater at present could fully (at 10 ℃ or 20 ℃) or nearly (at 30 ℃) saturate the aquatic photosynthesis of U. lactuca . However, the aerial photosynthesis was limited by current ambient atmospheric CO 2 level, and such a limitation was more severe at higher temperature (20-30 ℃) than at lower temperature (10 ℃). The carbon_saturated maximal photosynthesis of U. lactuca under aerial state was much greater than that under aquatic state at 10 ℃ and 20 ℃, while the maximal photosynthesis under both states was similar at 30 ℃. The aerial values of K m (CO 2) for photosynthesis were higher than the aquatic values. On the contrary, the values of apparent photosynthetic CO 2 conductance under aerial state were considerably lower than that under aquatic state. It was concluded that the increase of atmospheric CO 2 would enhance the primary productivity of U. lactuca through stimulating the photosynthesis under aerial state during low tide.展开更多
Developing efficient water oxidation catalysts(WOCs)with earth‐abundant elements still remains a challenging task for artificial photosynthesis.Iron‐based WOC is a promising candidate because it is economically chea...Developing efficient water oxidation catalysts(WOCs)with earth‐abundant elements still remains a challenging task for artificial photosynthesis.Iron‐based WOC is a promising candidate because it is economically cheap,little toxic and environmentally friendly.In this study,we found that the catalytic water oxidation activity on amorphous iron‐based oxide/hydroxide(FeOx)can be decreased by an order of magnitude after the dehydration process at room temperature.Thermogravimetric analysis,XRD and Raman results indicated that the dehydration process of FeOx at room temperature causes the almost completely loss of water molecule with no bulk structural changes.Based on this finding,we prepared hydrated ultrasmall(ca.2.2 nm)FeOx nanoparticles of amorphous feature,which turns out to be extremely active as WOC with turnover frequency(TOF)up to 9.3 s^-1 in the photocatalytic Ru(bpy)3^2+‐Na2S2O8 system.Our findings suggest that future design of active iron‐based oxides as WOCs requires the consideration of their hydration status.展开更多

To solve this problem,this paper proposed non-monotonic alternating-time temporal logic with belief and goal,namely N-ATL-BG,to facilitate the non-monotonic reasoning of mental states of agents. The semantic model,syntax and semantics of this new logic are developed. A model checking algorithm which can be finished in polynomial time is proposed for this new logic. The partial stripping cross sections as well as longitudinal momentum distribution of ^22O core have been calculated within the framework of the eikonal approximation approach. Several core-neutron spin coupling configurations, corresponding to J^π= 1/2 + as ground state spin parity of ^23O, along with their suitable admixtures have been considered. The major outcome of the present work is that the s and d admixed configuration with a large contribution of s state seems to explain the longitudinal momentum distribution data more satisfactorily.展开更多

Hollenberg, Quantum Inf. Comput. 7 (2007) 111] in the presence of decoherence using different quantum channels such as amplitude damping, depolarizing and phase damping. It is seen that the outcomes of the games for the two damping channels with maximum values of decoherence reduce to same value. However, in comparison to phase damping channel, the payoffs of cooperators are strongly damped under the influence amplitude damping channel for the lower values of decoherence parameter. In the case of depolarizing channel, the game is a no-payoff game irrespective of the degree of entanglement in the initial state for the larger values of decoherence parameter. Exploring water in ...There are potentially huge amounts of water stored in Earth's mantle, and the water solubilities in the silicate minerals range from tens to thousands of part per minion(ppm, part per million). Exploring water in the mantle has attracted much attention from the societies of mineralogy and geophysics in recent years. In the subducting slab, serpentine breaks down at high temperature, generating a series of dense hydrous magnesium silicate(DHMS) phases, such as phase A, chondrodite, clinohumite, etc. These phases may serve as carriers of water as hydroxyl into the upper mantle and the mantle transition zone(MTZ). On the other hand, wadsleyite and ringwoodite, polymorphs of olivine, are most the abundant minerals in the MTZ, and able to absorb significant amount of water(up to about 3 wt.% H_2O). Hence, the MTZ becomes a very important layer for water storage in the mantle, and hydration plays important roles in physics and chemistry of the MTZ. The o-carborane and nido-decaborane-fused b...This article describes comparison of the anchoring effect on electronic properties of the helicene-like bibenzothiophene between o-carborane and 5,6-dicarba-nido-decaborane. The o-carborane and nido-decaborane-fused bibenzothiophenes were simultaneously obtained in the same reaction and successfully isolated. Initially, the X-ray single crystal analysis revealed that the helicene-like distorted structure was realized in the nido-decaborane-fused bibenzothiophene. From optical measurements in the solution state, distinct different characteristics depending on the type of anchors were observed. It was summarized that the absorption and luminescent properties originated from weak π-conjugation at the bibenzothiophene moiety in the o-carboranefused compound were obtained, whereas robust π-conjugation and significant emission from the intramolecular charge transfer state were detected from the nido-decaborane-fused compound. These data can be explained by the theoretical results that π-conjugation was restrictedly developed within the bibenzothiophene moiety in frontier orbitals of the o-carborane-fused compound. In contrast, π-conjugation can be constructed even through the distorted bibenzothiophene because of the nido-decaborane unit. Moreover, the intramolecular charge transfer state should be realized because of electronic interaction involving the nido-decaborane unit in the excited state. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the nido-decaborane-fused compound possessed solid-state emission and mechanochromic luminescent properties. The π-conjugation on the distorted structure supported by the nido-decaborane anchor should play a significant role in suppressing aggregation-caused quenching followed by presenting solid-state emission with stimuli responsiveness.展开更多

We main...Considering the inertia of individuals in real inertia of players is introduced into evolutionary prisoner's life, we propose a modified Fermi updating rule, where the dilemma game (PDG) on square lattices. We mainly focus on how the inertia affects the cooperative behavior of the system. Interestingly, we find that the cooperation level has a nonmonotonic dependence on the inertia: with small inertia, cooperators will soon be invaded by defectors; with large inertia, players are unwilling to change their strategies and the cooperation level remains the same as the initial state; while a moderate inertia can induce the highest cooperation level. Moreover, effects of environmental noise and individual inertia are studied. Our work may be helpful in understanding the emergence and persistence of cooperation in nature and society.展开更多

In the present work, the...A set of universal equations on the reduced stress relaxation modulus with K-W-W stretched exponential function has been derived from the dynamics of α and β structural relaxation processes. In the present work, the K-W-W decay function is used to define the three types of relaxations (single α, single β relaxation and α-β co-relaxation), then their average times of relaxation are theoretically calculated from the reduced shear stress relaxation modulus and the relaxation time spectrum function H(τ). When the average time of co-relaxation, the reference temperatures (ficitive Tf and glass transition Tg) and the isostructural parameter achieved from the conditions of isostructural glass state are introduced into the reduced shear stress relaxation modulus (GT) under the equilibrium state, a set of correlations between isochoric fragility index (mvα, mvβ and mvαβ) and the coupling strength (α and β) under the reference temperatures are derived from the exact definition of isochoric fragility. So the theory of dynamic fragility for glass substances at isochoric state is developed. The theory can predict the following main features of structural relaxations and behavior of isochoric fragility: the temperature dependence of peak relaxation frequency exhibits a bifurcation with a pair of single α and single β relaxations; the temperature dependence of Stickel equation on 1/T exhibits two crossovers with VFTH(1) and VFTH(2) at the temperatures of Tf and Tg regime; there are two linear correlations between isochoric fragility index (mvα and mvβ) and the coupling strength.
