The morphological structure...Two water soluble acryl terpolymers containing polyvinyl alcohol, acrylamide/acrylic acid and vinyl sulphonic acid (VSA) were synthesized by free radical polymerization in aqueous medium. The morphological structure of the polymers were analysed using FTIR and 1H NMR, while the thermal properties were analysed by TGA and DSC. The inhibitive action of the terpolymers on corrosion of mid-steel in 1 mol. L- 1 HCI was studied using gravimetric, potentiodynamic polarisation and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) at 303 K. Both the polymers provided inhibition efficiency around 90% which clearly demonstrate that the grafted poly- mers have effective corrosion inhibiting ability on MS corrosion.展开更多

The combined effect of curcumin with metformin and metformin with okra seed extract was found to be highly efficacious in inhibiting Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs). In order to understand the mechanistic implications of curcumin combined with metformin and its enhanced anti-glycation activity, a Curcumin-Metformin Adduct was chemically synthesized. This adduct was fully characterized by thin-layer chromatography, Nano Drop spectrophotometry and electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry. The adduct may be helpful not only in elucidating the mechanism of anti-glycation and anti-cancer activities but also in studying the role of curcumin in binding of AI3-oligomers and disaggregating fibrillar formation in Alzheimer's disease.展开更多

In this way, the direct synthesis of copoly (lactic acid/glycolic acid) without any organic solvent was investigated. The properties and structures of products were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction and so on. The results show that comparatively high molecular weight copolymer of lactic acid and glycolic acid can be prepared by direct processing under appropriate technological conditions.展开更多

The SHS powders were fabricated by the chemical reaction between micro-sized SiC and A1 particles at very high combustion temperatures, producing the coarse A1 particles (several tens of microns) containing ultrafine SiC ceramic particles. Microstructural observation revealed that the addition of ultrafine SiC particles has a crumbling tendency of Si eutectic phase. It is suggested that the casting method combined with SHS process is promising for fabricating the Al-based MMC with ultrafine ceramic particles.展开更多

The structures of all the new compounds were confirmed using IR, 1H-NMR spectra and micro analysis, selected members of the synthesized compound were screened for antimicrobial activity. A series of N-dioctylmethyl-2,7-carbazole-alt-5,7-bis(thiophen-2-yl)-2,3-biphenylthieno[3,4-b]pyrazine (PCz-3ThPz-Ph) co- polymeric derivatives appending various donor units in two phenyl rings, namely, PCz-3ThPz-...A series of N-dioctylmethyl-2,7-carbazole-alt-5,7-bis(thiophen-2-yl)-2,3-biphenylthieno[3,4-b]pyrazine (PCz-3ThPz-Ph) co- polymeric derivatives appending various donor units in two phenyl rings, namely, PCz-3ThPz-PhTh, PCz-3ThPz-PhF1, PCz-3ThPz-PhCz, and PCz-3ThPz-PhTpa were synthesized and characterized. The effect of these appending donor units, e.g., thiophene (Th), fluorene (F1), carbazole (Cz), and triarylamine (Tpa), was investigated on dispersible, optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties for their polymers. The copolymers of PCz-3ThPz-PhCz and PCz-3ThPz-PhTpa containing Cz or Tpa units exhibited higher short-circuit current density (Jsc) and power conversion efficiency (PCE) in their bulk heterojunction polymeric solar cells. The highest PCE of 1.66% and Jsc of 7.16 mA cm-2 were obtained in a device with the PCz-3ThPz-PhCz/PC61BM blend under AM 1.5 G irradiation (100 mW cm 2); these values are 1.78 and 1.59 times higher than the corresponding values for the PCz-3ThPz-Ph-based device. When PC61BM was placed by PC71BM, the PCz-3ThPz-PhCz-based device displayed an enhanced PCE of 2.98% and a Jsc of 10.88 mA cm-2. This work demonstrated that appending additional hole-transporting units of Cz and Tpa into the side-chain of a polymer with a D-A backbone can significantly enhance the photovoltaic performance of their resultant polymers.展开更多

The pendent amino groups endow them high solubility in polar solvents, as well as efficient electron injection capability from high work-function metals. The relationships between the photophysical and electrochemical properties and the polymer backbone structure were systematically investigated. These alcohol-soluble carbazole-based copolymers were used as cathode interlayers between the high work-function metal A1 cathode and P-PPV emissive layer in polymer light-emitting diodes with device structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P-PPV/interlayer/A1. The resulting devices exhibited improved performance due to the better electron injection/transporting ability of the designed copolymers from A1 cathode to the light-emitting layer.展开更多

We adapt an effective two-channel model which takes ...We study the properties of spin-orbit coupled and harmonically trapped quasi-two-dimensional Fermi gas with tunable s-wave interaction between the two spin species. We adapt an effective two-channel model which takes the excited states occupation in the strongly confined axial direction into consideration by introducing dressed molecules in the closed channel, and use a Bogoliubovde Gennes(BdG) formalism to go beyond local density approximation. We find that both the in-trap phase structure and density distribution can be significantly modified near a wide Feshbach resonance compared with the single-channel model without the dressed molecules. Our findings will be helpful for the experimental search for the topological superfluid phase in ultracold Fermi gases.展开更多
