鉴于轮胎合力计算与分配算法只适用于四轮独立制动/驱动和四轮独立转向车辆,以及路面附着系数对轮胎纵向合力和横摆力矩可实现范围的限制,提出一种对轮胎纵向合力和横摆力矩进行实时计算调整和动态分配的车辆横向稳定性控制策略。针对... 鉴于轮胎合力计算与分配算法只适用于四轮独立制动/驱动和四轮独立转向车辆,以及路面附着系数对轮胎纵向合力和横摆力矩可实现范围的限制,提出一种对轮胎纵向合力和横摆力矩进行实时计算调整和动态分配的车辆横向稳定性控制策略。针对线性反馈计算的误差,采用离线数值优化和非线性规划方法实时确定轮胎纵向合力和横摆力矩的可实现范围,将计算的合力和力矩调整至可实现范围内并进行动态分配。设计滑移率和前轮侧偏角控制器使轮胎摩擦力跟踪各分力,在保证精度的同时避免对车辆后轮侧向力的估计。最后进行了仿真分析与基于LabVIEW PXI和veDYNA的驾驶员在环试验验证。结果表明,基于合力计算与分配的车辆横向稳定性控制可有效地提高车辆轨迹保持能力,改善低附着路面上车辆的稳定性,控制效果优于滑模变结构控制。 展开更多

A hybrid ventilation scheme applied to bidirectional excavation tunnel construction with a long inclined shaft

The breakage and bending of ducts result in a difficulty to cope with ventilation issues in bidirectional excavation tunnels with a long inclined shaft using a single ventilation method based on ducts.To discuss the hybrid ventilation system applied in bidirectional excavation tunnels with a long inclined shaft,this study has established a full-scale computational fluid dynamics model based on field tests,the Poly-Hexcore method,and the sliding mesh technique.The distribution of wind speed,temperature field,and CO in the tunnel are taken as indices to compare the ventilation efficiency of three ventilation systems(duct,duct-ventilation shaft,duct–ventilated shaft-axial fan).The results show that the hybrid ventilation scheme based on duct-ventilation shaft–axial fan performs the best among the three ventilation systems.Compared to the duct,the wind speed and cooling rate in the tunnel are enhanced by 7.5%–30.6%and 14.1%–17.7%,respectively,for the duct-vent shaft-axial fan condition,and the volume fractions of CO are reduced by 26.9%–73.9%.This contributes to the effective design of combined ventilation for bidirectional excavation tunnels with an inclined shaft,ultimately improving the air quality within the tunnel. 展开更多

Phase fraction and solidification path of high Zn-containing Al-Zn-Mg-Cu series aluminum alloy were calculated by calculation of phase diagram (CALPHAD) method. Microstructure and phases of Al-9.2Zn-1.7Mg-2.3Cu alloy were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The calculation results show that η(MgZn2) phase is influenced by Zn and Mg. Mass fractions of η(MgZn2) in Al-xZn-1.7Mg-2.3Cu are 10.0%, 9.8% and 9.2% for x=9.6, 9.4, 8.8 (mass fraction, %), respectively. The intervals of Mg composition were achieved for θ(Al2Cu)+η(MgZn2), S(Al2CuMg)+η(MgZn2) and θ(Al2Cu)+S(Al2CuMg)+η(MgZn2) phase regions. Al3Zr, α(Al), Al13Fe4, η(MgZn2), α-AlFeSi, Al7Cu2Fe, θ(Al2Cu), Al5Cu2MgsSi6 precipitate in sequence by no-equilibrium calculation. The SEM and XRD analyses reveal that α(Al), η(MgZn2), Mg(Al,Cu,Zn)2, θ(Al2Cu) and Al7Cu2Fe phases are discovered in Al-9.2Zn-1.7Mg-2.3Cu alloy. The thermodynamic calculation can be used to predict the major phases present in experiment. 展开更多

Based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, a quenching tank with two agitator systems and two flow-equilibrating devices was selected to simulate flow distribution using Fluent software. A numerical example was used to testify the validity of the quenching tank model. In order to take tank parameters (agitation speed, position of directional flow baffle and coordinate position in quench zone) into account, an approach that combines the artificial neural network (ANN) with CFD method was developed to study the flow distribution in the quenching tank. The flow rate of the quenching medium shows a very good agreement between the ANN predicted results and the Fluent simulated data. Methods for the optimal design of the quenching tank can be used as technical support for industrial production. 展开更多

Based on the available experimental data,the Bi-Ni binary system was optimized thermodynamically by the CALPHAD method.The solution phases,including liquid,fcc_A1(Ni) and rhombohedral_A7(Bi),were described as substitutional solution phases,of which the excess Gibbs energies were expressed with the Redlich-Kister polynomial.The intermetallic compound,BiNi,was modeled using three sublattices(Bi)(Ni,Va)(Ni,Va) considering its crystal structure(NiAs-type) and the compatibility of thermodynamic database in the multi-component systems,while Bi3Ni was treated as a stoichiometric compound.Finally,a set of self-consistent thermodynamic parameters formulating the Gibbs energies of various phases in this binary system were obtained.The calculated results are in reasonable agreement with the reported experimental data. 展开更多

For a deeper understanding of the shear resistance performance of the steel-concrete-steel composite shear wall, the main influence factors such as the thicknesses of the steel plates and the concrete, the strength grades of the concrete and the span-depth ratios of the composite wall, which have impacts on the shear resistance performance of the composite shear wail, are analyzed by the numerical simulation method. Meanwhile, the simplified calculation formulae of the initial elastic lateral-resisting stiffness and the shear bearing capacity of the composite shear wall are also proposed. The research shows that with the increase in the thicknesses of the steel plates and the concrete and the increase in the strength grades of the concrete, the shear performance of the shear wall improves obviously; the span-depth ratios of the composite wall have a significant effect on the initial elastic lateral- resisting stiffness, but a small effect on the shear bearing capacity. Comparing the results of the simplified calculation formulae with those of the nonlinear finite element method, it is obvious that the presented formulae are reasonable and meet the real force state of the structure. These conclusions can serve as a preliminary design reference for the steel-concrete- steel composite shear wall. 展开更多

A loop system was used to investigate the effect of flow velocity on corrosion behavior of AZ91 D magnesium alloy at an elbow of loop system based on array electrode technology by polarization, computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation and surface analysis. The experimental results showed that the corrosion rate increased with increasing flow velocity, and a critical flow velocity could exist in the corrosion of AZ91 D magnesium alloy. When flow velocity exceeded the critical flow velocity, fluid hydrodynamics was dominant in the corrosion of AZ91 D magnesium alloy. On the contrary, the electrochemical factors were dominant. 展开更多

Based on twin-roll casting, a cast-rolling force model was proposed to predict the rolling force in the bimetal solid-liquid cast-rolling bonding(SLCRB) process. The solid-liquid bonding zone was assumed to be below the kiss point(KP). The deformation resistance of the liquid zone was ignored. Then, the calculation model was derived. A 2D thermal-flow coupled simulation was established to provide a basis for the parameters in the model, and then the rolling forces of the Cu/Al clad strip at different rolling speeds were calculated. Meanwhile, through measurement experiments, the accuracy of the model was verified. The influence of the rolling speed, the substrate strip thickness, and the material on the rolling force was obtained. The results indicate that the rolling force decreases with the increase of the rolling speed and increases with the increase of the thickness and thermal conductivity of the substrate strip. The rolling force is closely related to the KP height. Therefore, the formulation of reasonable process parameters to control the KP height is of great significance to the stability of cast-rolling forming. 展开更多

Micro-alloying design of wrought magnesium(Mg) alloys is an important strategy to achieve high mechanical properties at a low cost. In the last two decades, significant progress has been made from both theory and experiment. In the present review, we try to summarize recent advances in micro-alloying design of wrought Mg alloys from both theoretical and pragmatic perspectives, and provide fundamental data required for establishing the relationship between chemical composition and mechanical properties of Mg alloys. We start with theoretical attempts for understanding the mechanical properties of Mg alloys at different scales, by involving first principle calculations,molecular dynamics, cellular automata, and crystal plasticity. Then, the role of alloying elements is discussed for a series of promising Mg alloys such as Mg-Al, Mg-Zn, Mg-RE(rare-earth element), Mg-Sn, and Mg-Ca families.Potential challenges in the micro-alloying design of Mg alloys are highlighted at the end. The review is expected to provide helpful guidance for the intelligent design of novel wrought Mg alloys and inspire more innovative ideas in this field. 展开更多

Whilst methods exist to indirectly measure the effects of increased flow or gastro-oesophageal refluxing, they cannot quantitatively measure the amount of acid travelling back up into the oesophagus during reflux, nor can they indicate the flow rate through the oesophagogastric junction (OGJ). Since OGJ dysfunction affects flow it seems most appropriate to describe the geometry of the OGJ and its effect on the flow. A device known as the functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP) has been shown to reliably measure the geometry of and pressure changes in the OGJ. FLIP cannot directly measure flow but the data gathered from the probe can be used to model flow through the junction by using computational flow dynamics (CFD). CFD uses a set of equations known as the Navier-Stokes equations to predict flow patterns and is a technique widely used in engineering. These equations are complex and require appropriate assumptions to provide simplifications before useful data can be obtained. With the assumption that the cross-sectional areas obtained via FLIP are circular, the radii of these circles can be obtained. A cubic interpolation scheme can then be applied to give a high-resolution geometry for the OGJ. In the case of modelling a reflux scenario, it can be seen that at the narrowest section a jet of fluid squirts into the oesophagus at a higher velocity than the fluid surrounding it. This jet has a maximum velocity of almost 2 ms-1 that occurs where the OGJ is at its narrowest. This simple prediction of acid ‘squirting’ into the oesophagusillustrates how the use of numerical methods can be used to develop a better understanding of the OGJ. This initial work using CFD shows some considerable promise for the future. 展开更多

Micro-mixing is an important aspect for fast or quasi-instantaneous reactions. Poor micro-mixing might produce more undesired by-products, leading to higher purification costs. This paper gives an extensive review and analysis of micro-mixing studies in single- and multi phase stirred tanks. The relevant experiment techniques, micro-mixing models and nurherical approaches are critically reviewed and analyzed with remarks and perspectives. The reported studies on two-phase micro-mixing experiments and on the impact of the presence of the dispersed phases on turbulence have been limited to a narrow range of conditions. More importantly, disparities widely exist among different reports. Both Lagrangian and Eulerian models are based on oversimplified assumptions, which may lead to uncertainties or even unrealistic results. A heuristic model, which is from the perspective of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) and can cover the whole spectrum of scales and also focus on every subrocess, is desired in the future. 展开更多

In order to take a precise and objective evaluation on asphalt-aggregate adhesion, this paper analyzed the function at asphalt- aggregate interface using surface free energy theory. Two asphalts and two aggregates were selected and their surface free energy parameters, FLW, F and F-, were measured by the Wilhelmy plate method and the column wicking technique, respectively. Then, the resistance to moisture damage of asphalt mixture were predicted using calculated asphalt-aggregate adhesive bond energy and asphalt cohesive bond energy. The results show that moisture damage is a thermodynamically favorable phenomenon. Asphalt with a great acid-base polar component and a low Lifshitz-van der Waals apolar component always exhibits perfect cohesion. 展开更多

The heat transfer through the dividing wall is considered and the results are compared with that of common heat insulation dividing wall column(HIDWC). Based on the thermodynamic analysis of heat transfer dividing wall column(HTDWC) and HIDWC, both computer simulation and experiments are employed to analyze the energyconserving situation. Mixtures of n-hexane, n-heptane and n-octane are chosen as the example for separation.The results show that the energy consumption of HTDWC is 50.3% less than that of conventional distillation column, while it is 46.4% less than that of HIDWC. It indicates that DWC is efficient on separating threecomponent mixtures and HTDWC can save more energy than HIDWC. Thus it is necessary to consider the heat transfer while applying DWC to industry. 展开更多

A sensor scheduling problem was considered for a class of hybrid systems named as the stochastic linear hybrid system (SLHS). An algorithm was proposed to select one (or a group of) sensor at each time from a set of sensors. Then, a hybrid estimation algorithm was designed to compute the estimates of the continuous and discrete states of the SLHS based on the observations from the selected sensors. As the sensor scheduling algorithm is designed such that the Bayesian decision risk is minimized, the true discrete state can be better identified. Moreover, the continuous state estimation performance of the proposed algorithm is better than that of hybrid estimation algorithms using only predetermined sensors. Based on the Reynolds equation with Reynolds boundary conditions, the Castelli method was employed to solve the Reynolds equation for oil lubrication upon bearings. By doing so, a profile of nonlinear oil film force of single-pad journal bearings is established. According to the structure of combination journal bearings, nonlinear oil film force of combination journal bearing is obtained by retrieval, interpolation and assembly techniques. As for symmetrical flexible Jeffcott rotor systems supported by combination journal bearings, the nonlinear motions of the center of the rotor are calculated by the self-adaptive Runge-Kutta method and Poincar6 mapping with different rotational speeds. The numerical results show that the system performance is slightly better when the pivot ratio changes from 0.5 to 0.6, and reveals nonlinear phenomena of periodic, period-doubing, quasi-periodic motion, etc. 展开更多

This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of titanium alloy metal powder production using low-power plasma torches.An argon DC non-transferred arc plasma torch was designed,and numerical analysis was conducted to determine the plasma jet properties and wire temperature.The highest velocities inside the nozzle attachment were between 838 and 1178 m/s.The velocities of the jets at the apex were between 494 and 645 m/s for different gas flow rates.The studied plasma gas flow rates had no significant effect on the effective plasma jet length.It was shown that the plasma jet length can be estimated by numerical analysis using the temperature and velocity changes of the plasma jet over distance.It was observed that the powders produced were spherical without any satellites.As a result of this study,a plasma torch was developed and powder production was performed successfully by using relatively low torch power. 展开更多
