Soil contaminated with typical heavy metals (Pb,Cd,Cu,and Zn) was remedied by using the polymeric aluminum salt coagulants including polyaluminum chloride (PAC) and polyaluminum sulfate (PAS).The remediation efficiencies are influenced by reaction time,water amount,and dosage of remediation agent.The optimal remediation conditions are as follows:6 h of reaction time,1 kg/kg of water addition amount,and 0.25 kg/kg of remediation agent dosage.After PAC addition,the remediation efficiencies of diethylenetriamine-pentaacetic acid (DTPA)-extractable Pb,Cd,Cu,and Zn reach 88.3%,85.1%,85.4%,and 73.7%,respectively;and those for PAS are 89.7%,88.7%,83.5%,and 72.6%,respectively.The main remediation mechanism of the polymeric aluminum salt may contribute to the ionization and hydrolysis of PAC and PAS.H + released from ionization of polymeric aluminum salt can cause the leaching of heavy metals,while the multinuclear complex produced from hydrolysis may result in the immobilization of heavy metals.For PAC,the immobilization of heavy metals is the main remediation process.For PAS,both leaching and immobilization are involved in the remediation process of heavy metals. 展开更多

The coupling model of major influence factors such state affecting the chloride diffusion process in concrete is as environmental relative humidity, load-induced crack and stress discussed. The probability distributions of the critical chloride concentration Cc, the chloride diffusion coefficient D, and the surface chloride concentration Cs were determined based on the collected natural exposure data. And the estimation of probability of corrosion initiation considering the coupling effects of influence factors is presented. It is found that the relative humidity and curing time are the most effective factors affecting the probability of corrosion initiation before and after 10 years of exposure time. At the same exposure time, the influence of load-induced crack and stress state on the probability of corrosion initiation is obvious, in which the effect of crack is the most one 展开更多

The rare ginsenoside Compound K (C-K) is attracting more attention because of its good physiological activity and urgent need. There are many pathways to obtain ginsenoside C-K, including chemical and biological methods. Among these, the conversion of PPD-type ginsenosides by enzymatic hydrolysis is a trend due to its high efficiency and mild conditions. For effectively extracting from the other panaxadiol saponins, the conversion process for ginsenoside C-K was investigated using snailases in this study. The univariate experimental design and response surface methodology were used to determine the optimal hydrolysis conditions for the conversion of ginsenoside Rbl into ginsenoside C-K by snailases. The optimum conditions were as follows: pH 5,12, temperature 51 ℃, ratio of snailase/substrate 0.21, and reaction time 48 h. On the basis of these parameters, the addition of 1.0 mmol· L- 1 ferric ion was found to significantly improve the enzymolysis ofsnailases for the first time. With the above conditions, the maximum conversion rate reached 89.7%, suggesting that the process can obviously increase the yield of ginsenoside C-K. The bioassay tests indicated that the ginsenoside C-K showed anti-tumor activity in a series of tumor cell lines. Based on these results, we can conclude that the process of rare ginsenoside C- K production by enzymolysis with snailase is feasible, efficient, and suitable for the industrial production and application. 展开更多

Fluorescence-based maximal photochemical efficiency, Fv/Fm, is widely used as an indicator to photosynthetic competence in marine systems. It has been considered a useful parameter diagnosing the nutrient stress on phytoplankton photosynthesis, but many studies argue its usefulness. In the present study, we try to find a temporal relationship between Fv/Fm and nitrogen concentration, and provide a possible explanation on the controversy. We continuously measured Fv/Fm and nitrogen concentration once every 10 days from September 2003 to March 2004 at two stations in Jiaozhou Bay, northern China. It was found that Fv/ffm did not significantly correlate to synchronous nitrogen concentration, but the variation (i.e. the change between two adjacent cruises) of nitrogen concentration of the previous cruise and the variation ofFv/Fm of the current cruise were strongly correlated. This result indicates that a time lag exists between the variation of nutrient status and the subsequent Fv/Fm response. Length of the time lag seems just matched the interval of our measurements (10 days). In the field, direct dependence of Fv/Fm on nitrogen concentration may not be found because of the lagged response of Fv/Fm to nitrogen concentration variations or physiological acclimation. Our results provide a possible way to explain the previously reported conflicting results on the relationship between Fv/Fm and nutrient status. To give a more-accurate estimate about the length of the time lag, an investigation that includes more frequent measurements is needed. 展开更多

AIM: To evaluate the feasibility, reproducibility and efficacy of a new tissue anchoring device in a porcine survival model. METHODS: Gastrotomies were performed using a needle-knife and balloon dilator in 10 female Yorkshire pigs weighing 30-35 kg. Gastric closure was attempted using a new tissue anchoring device. The tightness of the closure was confirmed by means of air insufflation and the ability to maintain gastric distension with stability in peritoneal pressure measured with a Veress needle. All animals were monitored daily for signs of peritonitis and sepsis over 14 d. During necropsy, the peritoneal cavity and the gastric access site were examined.RESULTS: Transgastric access, closure and 14 d survival was achieved in all pigs. The mean closure time was 18.1 ± 19.2 min and a mean of 2.1 ± 1 devices were used. Supplementary clips were necessary in 2 cases. The closure time was progressively reduced (24.8 ± 13.9 min in the first 5 pigs vs 11.4 ± 5.9 min in the last 5, P = NS). At necropsy, the gastric access site was correctly closed in all cases with all brace-bars present. One device was misplaced in the mesocolon. Minimal adhesions were observed in 3 pigs and signs of mild peritonitis and adhesions in one. CONCLUSIONS: The use of this new tissue anchoring device in porcine stomachs is feasible, reproducible and effective and requires a short learning curve. 展开更多

The catalysts were characterized by means of XRD and FT-IR. The synthesis of butyraldehyde glycol acetal catalyzed by H3PW12O40/MCM-48 was studied with butyraldehyde and glycol as reactants. H3PW12O40/MCM-48 was an excellent catalyst for the synthesizing butyraldehyde glycol acetal and Keggin structure of H3PW12O40 kept unchanged after being impregnated on surface of the molecular sieve support. Effects of n(butyraldehyde): n(glycol), catalyst dosage, cyclohexane(water-stripped reagent) and reaction time on yields of the product were investigated. The optimum conditions had been found, that was, molar ratio of butyraldehyde to glycol was 1: 1.6, mass ratio of catalyst used to the reactants was 0.25% and reaction time was 75 min. Under these conditions, the yield of butyraldehyde glycol acetal can reach 79.74%. 展开更多

Resource Evaluation of Heavy Rare Earth Derived from the Spent Gd203 Burnable Poison in LWRs

A burnup calculation has been performed to evaluate heavy rare earth (terbium--Tb, dysprosium--Dy) production in spent gadolinium oxide (Gd203) installed as a BP (burnable poison). Each amount of Tb and Dy production derived from the BP has been about 30-40 times larger than those created in FP (fission products). Required cooling time to achieve exemption level on radioactivity concentration produced Tb and Dy derived from the BP are much shorter (BP-Tb: 7.9y, BP-Dy: 〈 0.1y) than those created in FP (FP-Tb: 3,616y, FP-Dy: 6.9y). However, the BP is mixed homogeneously with UO2 pellet in current nuclear fuel system of LWRs (light water reactors), and hence mixing of FP cannot be not avoided. In such a mixture case, the required cooling time of recovered Tb will become 2,653y and that of recovered Dy be 4.8y. For this reason, recovered Tb is unlikely to be resource for utilization, while recovered Dy must be the resource provided the precise separation from the other FP. 展开更多

The photoelectric conversion efficiency of TiO2-NaYF4:Er^3+/Yb^3+ C3N4 composite cell can result an efficiency of 7.37%, which is higher than those of pure TiO2 cell and TiO2-C3N4 composite cell. The enhancement of the efficiency can be attributed to the synergetic effect of NaYF4:Er^3+/Yb^3+ and C3N4. Elec- trochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis revealed that the interfacial resistance of the TiO2-dyelI3^-/I^- electrolyte interface of TiO2-NaYF4:Er^3+/Yb^3+-C3N4 composites cell was much smaller than that of pure TiO2 cell. In addition, the TiO2-NaYF4:Er^3+/Yb^3+-C3N4 composite cell had longer electron recombination time and shorter electron transport time than that of pure TiO2 cell. 展开更多

By employing the method of the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree for bosons,we investigate the ground state properties of a singly trapped dipolar gas of spinless bosons.We show that the repulsive interactions favor the formation of the fragmented ground state.In particular,we find the formation of the fragmented state is mainly due to the interaction energies associated with the one-and two-particle exchanges between orbitals.We also obtain the stability diagram of the system and find that the stability of the system is significantly enhanced by the appearance of the fragmentation. 展开更多
