Here, we report the first molecular and functional characterization of Srx homolog from higher plants. Bioinformatic analysis revealed the presence of potential Srx encoding sequences in both monocot and dicot plant species. Putative plant Srx proteins exhibited significant identities to their orthologs from yeast and human, and contained the conserved signature sequence and residues essential for catalysis. However, unlike yeast and human orthologs, plant Srxs were all predicted to possess chloroplast transit peptide in their primary structure. The Srx proteins from Arabidopsis and rice (designated as AtSrx and OsSrx, respectively) complemented functional deficiency of Srx in the SRX1 deletion yeast cells. A GFP fusion protein of AtSrx was targeted to chloroplast in Arabidopsis mesophyll protoplast. AtSrx transcription occurred in both vegetative and reproductive organs, and the highest transcript level was detected in leaves. Under oxidation stress, AtSrx transcript level was substantially increased, which paralleled with enhanced transcription of 2-Cys peroxiredoxins that have been found essential in maintaining chloroplast redox balance. In addition to oxidation stress, osmotic/water deficit or cold treatments also raised AtSrx transcript level. Consistent with above findings, the knock-out mutant of AtSrx was significantly more susceptible to oxidation stress than wild type Arabidopsis plant. Taken together, the results of this work indicate the existence of functional Srx homolog in higher plants that is essential for plants to cope with oxidation stress.展开更多

The adsorption heat, adsorption isotherms, and adsorption sites of them were obtained. At the temperature ranging from 673.15 to 873.15 K, the Henry constant of quinoline homologues calculated on the FAU zeolite was applied to simulate their adsorption heat. And its value was more in accordance with the related data reported in the literature. The results showed that their isosteric heat decreased in the following order: 2,4-dimethyl quinoline(118.63 kJ/mol) > 2-methyl quinoline(110.45 kJ/mol) > quinoline(98 kJ/mol), and complied with the order of their adsorbate basicity. The competitive adsorption of three components of quinoline homologues on the FAU zeolite was calculated numerically at a temperature of 773.15 K and a pressure range of 0.1—100 MPa under the Universal force field. Their adsorption capacity decreased in the following order: quinoline > 2-methyl quinoline > 2,4-dimethyl quinoline. The smaller the molecule size of the adsorbate, the greater the saturated adsorption capacity would be. It was found that the quinoline homologues could be adsorbed in the main channels of 12- membered-ring framework of the zeolite. Simultaneously, the influence of silica/alumina ratio on the adsorption property of quinoline homologues in FAU zeolite was studied. The smaller the silica/alumina ratio, the greater the isosteric heat and adsorption capacity would be.展开更多

The connection between quantum and macroscopic properties of the substances is confirmed in homologous series of n-alkanes. Linear correlation between the coefficient of magnetization and energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital in homologous series of n-alkanes C2-C10 is established. The connection between diamagnetic and electronic characteristics of n-alkanes with the temperatures of the first order phase transitions (melting point) and other physical-chemical properties were discovered. The nature of interconnection between critical and diamagnetic properties of n-alkanes C2-C10 and results of previous works allow to suppose significant role of the spin interactions in electronic continuum states along the process of the first order phase transitions.展开更多
