With amolecular mass of 19891.13 Da, pI 8.9, λ_(max) = 276 - 278 nm, λ_(min) = 250 nm, flammulin wascharacterized by its lack of methionine. Fingerprint mapping of flammulin was determined by MALDI-MSfollowing in-gel protease digestion; no close matches were identified. [Method]The 6 elements Cu,Zn,Ca,Fe,Mg and Mn in roots of G.uralensis were extracted based on traditional decoction method and were separated into water-soluble state and suspension state by micro porous filtering film. The elements in water-soluble state were detected by flame atomic adsorption spectrophotometry (FAAS). [Result]The results showed that extractive rates of the elements were in the range of 1.71%-60.06%,and immerse-residue ratio in 0.018 3-1.682 0; the results also indicated that the immerse-residue ratio of Zn was biggest (1.68),Zn played an important medical role and might be considered as the best characteristic element in G.uralensis; the recoveries of the elements were ranged from 95.72% to 103.15% and relative standard deviations (RSD) were less than 2.38%. [Conclusion]Because of its high accuracy,FAAS method is feasible for analyzing primary speciation of microelements in G.uralensis.展开更多

A patented kinetic uricase method was evaluated for serum uric acid assay. Initial absorbance of the reaction mixture before uricase action (A0) was obtained by correcting the absorbance at 293 nm measured before th...A patented kinetic uricase method was evaluated for serum uric acid assay. Initial absorbance of the reaction mixture before uricase action (A0) was obtained by correcting the absorbance at 293 nm measured before the addition of uricase solution, and background absorbance (Ab) was predicted by an integrated method. Uric acid concentration in reaction solution was calculated from AA, the difference between A0 and Ab, using the absorptivity preset for uric acid. This kinetic uricase method exhibited CV〈4.3% and recovery of 100%. Lipids, bilirubin, hemoglobin, ascorbic acid, reduced glutathione and xanthine 〈0.32 mmol/L in serum had no significant effects. △A linearly responded to 1.2 to 37.5 μmol/L uric acid in reaction solution containing 15 μl serum. The slope of linear response was consistent with the absorptivity preset for uric acid while the intercept was consistent with that for serum alone. Uric acid concentrations in clinic sera by different uricase methods positively correlated to each other. By Bland-Altman analysis, this kinetic uricase method accorded with that by quantifying the total change of UV absorbance on the completion of uricase reaction. These results demonstrated that this kinetic uricase method is reliable for serum uric acid assay with enhanced resistance to both xanthine and other common errors, wider range of linear response and much lower cost.展开更多

Differential flotation tests ...The effect of sodium pyrophosphate (SPH) on the separation of chalcopyrite from galena was examined through flotation, adsorption, electrokinetic studies and infrared spectral analysis. Differential flotation tests indicate that satisfactory separation can be achieved within the pH range from 2.5 to 6 using SPH to depress the galena, but not the chalcopyrite when O-isopropyl-N-ethyl thionocarbamate (IPETC) is used as the collector. The electrophoretic mohilities of both the minerals dramatically become negatively charged following SPH adsorption in the pH range from 2.5 to 12, The infrared spectral analysis suggests that chemical adsorption occurs on galena surface treated by SPH, indicating that a chelate complex has formed. At weakly acidic pH values, the adsorption density of IPETC onto galena is significantly reduced in the presence of SPH. However, the amount of IPETC adsorbed onto chalcopyrite almost remains at the same level. Since the observed adsorption density of IEPTC onto chalcopyrite is quite high compared to galena, the observed flotation results are explained. A possible mechanism for the interaction between the two sulphide minerals and SPH is discussed.展开更多

The result is that cadmium, cobalt and lead concentrations were high and other elements are low or the same as natural background. It is concluded that the high cadmium, cobalt and lead levels in coral reefs sediments will have negative effects on marine life of the sites, so further researches are needed to characterize the sources fate, biogeochemical processes and impacts of these trace elements on coral reefs and marine of the region.展开更多

However, scattering correction is essential to obtain accurate absorption coefficient values i...The absorption coefficient of water is an important bio-optical parameter for water optics and water color remote sensing. However, scattering correction is essential to obtain accurate absorption coefficient values in situ using the nine-wavelength absorption and attenuation meter AC9. Establishing the correction always fails in Case 2 water when the correction assumes zero absorption in the near-infrared(NIR) region and underestimates the absorption coefficient in the red region, which affect processes such as semi-analytical remote sensing inversion. In this study, the scattering contribution was evaluated by an exponential fitting approach using AC9 measurements at seven wavelengths(412, 440, 488, 510, 532, 555, and 715 nm) and by applying scattering correction. The correction was applied to representative in situ data of moderately turbid coastal water, highly turbid coastal water, eutrophic inland water, and turbid inland water. The results suggest that the absorption levels in the red and NIR regions are significantly higher than those obtained using standard scattering error correction procedures. Knowledge of the deviation between this method and the commonly used scattering correction methods will facilitate the evaluation of the effect on satellite remote sensing of water constituents and general optical research using different scatteringcorrection methods.展开更多

In addition, many studies point to the involvement of ecological risk of heavy metals into the food chain through edible plants like Spinaceae oleraceae L. and Lactuca sativa L.. This paper presents the results of the "ex-situ" application of phytoacumulation on the soils of contaminated terrain using the plant species of spinach (Spinacea oleracea L.) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). Sequestration of arsen from the soil by these plant species was observed through phytoaccumulation factor--PF and limit values (mg/kg). The main task and objective of this research was to establish the level of accumulation of toxic element As from the soil by plants and to calculate the PF factor of transfer. The experiment was set up in the control conditions where the soil from eight contaminated locations was placed in the experimental containers. The AAS method was used to analyze heavy metal in plant material and soil. PF factor values ranged from 0.1 to 1.0 which indicates that the spinach and lettuce plants rechargeable moderate compared to arsenic.展开更多
The C-H stretch vibrational spectra of the trisiloxane superspreading surfactant Silwet L-77 ((CH3)3Si- O-Si(CH3)(C3H6)(OCH2CH2)7-8OCH3)-O-Si(CH3)3) at the air/water interface are measured with the surfac...The C-H stretch vibrational spectra of the trisiloxane superspreading surfactant Silwet L-77 ((CH3)3Si- O-Si(CH3)(C3H6)(OCH2CH2)7-8OCH3)-O-Si(CH3)3) at the air/water interface are measured with the surface Sum Frequency Generation Vibrational Spectroscopy (SFG-VS). The spectra are dominated with the features from the -Si-CH3 groups around 2905 cm^-1 (symmetric stretch or SS mode) and 2957 ^-1 (mostly the asymmetric stretch or AS mode), and with the weak but apparent contribution from the -O-CH2- groups around 2880 ^-1 (symmetric stretch or SS mode). Comparison of the polarization dependent SFG spectra below and above the critical aggregate or micelle concentration (CAC) indicates that the molecular orientation of the C-H related molecular groups remained unchanged at different surface densities of the Silwet L-77 surfactant. The SFG-VS adsorption isotherm suggested that there was no sign of Silwet L-77 bilayer structure formation at the air/water interface. The Gibbs adsorption free energy of the Silwet surfactant to the air/water interface is -42.2±0.8kcal/mol, indicating the unusually strong adsorption ability of the Silwet L-77 superspreading surfactant.展开更多

Main challenge was to develop a mobile system capable of moving on various field surfaces, equipped with very reliable N20 gas analyser (Los Gatos Research Inc.), electrically autonomous (with batteries) and enough robust to face up to field conditions. In this paper, we report the major features of this prototype studied during two field campaigns. The N20 flux IPNOA prototype was compared with other methodological implementations: first, during an INGOS (integrated non-CO2 greenhouse gas observing systems) campaign on a grazed grassland at Easter Bush (Scotland) by Eddy correlation method, and then after on an arable crop at Grignon (France) using automatic and manual chambers fitted with QC-TILDAS (Quantum Cascade Tunable Infrared Laser Differential Absorption Spectrometer, Aerodyne Research Inc.), with the 46C model of thermo-instrument analyser or with a GC (gas chromatography) analysis.展开更多

The results show that there is an obvious difference around 323 nm though the absorbance values of the two samples are almost similar in the most bands. The absorbance value of the mixture is obviously greater than that of tangerine peel at 276 nm in the spectrums, and there is a shift of the peak position in the absorption spectrum of the mixture, which shows the differences of the absorbance values and the peak positions of the two samples. Through comparing the characteristics of the two samples' absorption spectrums, a new method for researching new pharmacological action of tangerine peel is presented in this paper. The result indicates that the technology of spectrum analysis will play an important role in the research and development of Chinese herbal pharmacology and new pharmacology.展开更多
Analysis of bottom sediments in water reservoir Kolifiany from the aspect of Cd and Pb contents, the determination of observed heavy metal contents in different parts of carp body (meat muscle, liver and kidney) and...Analysis of bottom sediments in water reservoir Kolifiany from the aspect of Cd and Pb contents, the determination of observed heavy metal contents in different parts of carp body (meat muscle, liver and kidney) and the evaluation of hygienic status and suitability of fish meat for the human consumption were performed. For analysis, each tissue sample was dissolved in a solution of nitric acid p.a. (HNO3:HzO = 2:1); sediment sample in solution of acids (HF-HNO3-HCIO4) and analyzed for presence of Cd, Pb by the atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) Varian Duo 240FS and 240Z. Our results confirmed hygienic harmless of bottom sediments in water reservoir Kolifiany. The Cd, Pb contents in sediments represent no risk within their input into the fish organisms. The Cd content in fish meat is lower than maximum available amount given by legislative norms, and the contents of Pb in fish meat too. The results of Cd, Pb content determination in carp body confirmed that fish muscles belong to suitable foodstuff for the human consumption.展开更多

For analysis, each tissue sample was dissolved in a solution of nitric acid p.a. (HNO3:HzO = 2:1); sediment sample in solution of acids (HF-HNO3-HCIO4) and analyzed for presence of Cd, Pb by the atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) Varian Duo 240FS and 240Z. Our results confirmed hygienic harmless of bottom sediments in water reservoir Kolifiany. The Cd, Pb contents in sediments represent no risk within their input into the fish organisms. The Cd content in fish meat is lower than maximum available amount given by legislative norms, and the contents of Pb in fish meat too. The results of Cd, Pb content determination in carp body confirmed that fish muscles belong to suitable foodstuff for the human consumption.
