During the measurement of atmospheric nitrate radical by long-path differential optical absorption spectroscopy, water vapor strong absorption could affect the measurement of nitrate radical and detection limits of system. Under the tropospheric condition, the optical density of water vapor absorption is non-linearly dependent on column density. An effective method was developed to eliminate the effect of water vapor absorption. Reference spectra of water vapor based on the daytime atmospheric absorption spectra, when fitted together with change of cross section with water vapor column densities, gave a more accurate fitting of water vapor absorptions, thus its effect on the measurements of nitrate radical could be restricted to a minimum and detection limits of system reached 3.6 ppt. The modified method was applied during an intensive field campaign in the Pearl River Delta, China. The NO3 concentration in polluted air masses varied from 3.6 ppt to 82.5 ppt with an average level of 23.6±1.8 ppt. 展开更多

A semi-empirical adsorption kinetic model was proposed with the time compensation method to describe the chemisorption of SO2 in flue gas by carbon adsorbents for flue gas purification.The change in adsorption capacity and adsorption rate with time at different water vapor concentrations and different SO2 concentrations was studied.The model was in good agreement with experimental data.The surface reaction was probably the rate controlling step in the early stage for SO2 adsorption by ZL50 activated carbon.The parameters m and n in the nth order adsorption kinetic model were related to the magnitude of the time compensation and adsorption driving force,respectively.The change of parameter n with water vapor concentrations and sulfur dioxide concentrations was studied and some physical implications were given.The sum of square errors was less than 1.0 and the average absolute percentage deviations ranged from 0.5 to 3.2.The kinetic model was compared with other models in the literature. 展开更多

In this work, the absorption-hydration hybrid method was used to recover (hydrogen + nitrogen) from (hydrogen + nitrogen + methane + argon) tail gas mixtures of synthetic ammonia plant through hydrate formation/dissociation. A high-pressure reactor with magnetic stirrer was used to study the separation efficiency. The in-fluences of the concentration of anti-agglomerant, temperature, pressure, initial gas-liquid volume ratio, and oil-water volume ratio on the separation efficiency were systematically investigated in the presence of tetrahydro-furan (THF). Anti-agglomerant was used to disperse hydrate particles into the condensate phase for water-in-oil emulsion system. Since nitrogen is the material for ammonia production, the objective production in our separation process is (hydrogen + nitrogen). Our experimental results show that by adopting appropriate operating conditions, high concentration of (hydrogen + nitrogen) can be obtained using the proposed technology based on forming hydrate. 展开更多

A mathematical method was proposed for the determination of absolute adsorption from experimental isotherms. The method is based on the numerical equality of the absolute and the excess adsorption when either the gas phase density or the amount adsorbed is not quite considerable. The initial part of the experimentalisotherms, which represents the absolute adsorption, became linear with some mathematical manipulations. The linear isotherms were reliably formulated. As consequence, either the volume or the density of the supercritical adsorbate could be determined by a non-empirical way. This method was illustrated by the adsorption data of supercritical hydrogen and methane on a superactivated carbon in large ranges of temperature and pressure. 展开更多

In this study, we selected 9 typical coal samples with different metamorphic grades as the study subjects,measured their initial 30-min gas desorption at 30℃ and different pressure using a self-developed gas adsorption/desorption device. Based on the characteristics of gas desorption from coal samples, we proposed a direct fitting method for measurement of gas content in coalbed, analyzed the effects of sampling time on the measurement results and determined the reasonable sampling time of coal samples with different metamorphic grades at different gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium. The results show that (1)the error of gas contents obtained using the direct fitting method relative to that obtained using indirect method is less than 10%, which meets the actual on-site requirements and verifies the feasibility of the direct fitting method;(2) when the relative error is controlled within ±10%, the reasonable sampling time of coal samples is linearly related to the gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium;(3) the reasonable sampling time of coal samples with the same metamorphic grade exhibits a shortening trend with increasing gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium;(4) for coal samples with similar gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium, the reasonable sampling time of coal samples displays a shortening trend with increasing metamorphic grade.
