Anastomotic leakage occurred, but it spontaneously improved. At six months after the operation, he was rehospitalized with a cough and dysphagia. An esophago-bronchiole fistula and stenosis of the gastric tube were observed. He first underwent stent placement in the gastric tube. Two weeks later, the syringeal epithelium was burned by argon plasma coagulation after stent removal. Endoscopic occlusion was then performed for the fistula with two guidewire-assisted silicone spigots. Two weeks later, he was discharged on an oral diet, and he has not developed recurrence of the fistula or cancer for three years. This is the first report of endoscopic occlusion with a guidewire-assisted silicone spigot through the esophagus.展开更多

The results show that the selectivity of these collectors for these three calcareous minerals falls in the order: DDDAC 〉 DDBAC 〉 DTAC. A significantly different flotation response of scheelite compared to the other two calcareous minerals was observed over the pH range from 7 to 8 for DDDAC as the collector. A concentrate containing 41.40% W03 could be produced from a feed mixture containing 23.22% WO3 at the DDDAC concentration of 4.0× 10^-4 mol/L. The WO3 recovery was 92.92% under these conditions. The results of zeta potential measurements suggest that electrostatic interactions are the main forces between DDDAC and the minerals. When the concentration of DDDAC is from 2× 10^-4 to 4×10-3 mol/L large differences in adsorption density, and adsorption kinetics, of DDDAC onto scheelite, calcite, and fluorite provide desirable conditions for achieving high selectivity.展开更多

In particular, the presence of a flow-through power take-off (PTO) system, such as low-head turbines, can be accounted for. The wave radiation characteristics of an appropriately selected Lagrangian element (LE) in the fluid domain are first determined. In the limit of a vanishing mass, the LE reduces to a patch of distributed normal dipoles. The hydrodynamic coefficients of this virtual object are then input in a standard equation of motion where the effect of the PTO can be represented, for example, as a dashpot damping term. The process is illustrated for a class of devices recently proposed by Carter and Ertekin (2011), although in a simplified form. Favorable wave power absorption is shown for large ratios of the LE wave radiation coefficient over the LE added mass coefficient. Under optimal conditions, the relative flow reduction from the PTO theoretically lies between 0.50 and 1 2 ≈ 0.71, with lower values corresponding to better configurations. Wave power capture widths, the sensitivity of results to PTO damping and sample spectral calculations at a typical site in Hawaiian waters are proposed to further illustrate the versatility of the method.展开更多

Methods: We enrolled patients who were confirmed to have at least one native coronary artery CTO by DSCT before they underwent selective PCI in the period from December 2007 to October 2008. A CTO was defined as an obstruction of a native coronary artery with no luminal continuity. The CT-guided PCI procedure involved placing CT and fluoroscopic images side-by-side on the screen. DSCT images were analyzed for location, segment, plaque characteristics, calcification, and proximal lumen diameter of the CTO before PCI. The guidewire was advanced and manipulated under CT guidance. The PCI was carried out and the results were compared. Results: Seventy-four CTOs were assessed. PCI was successful in 57 cases of CTOs (77.0%). According to the results, CTOs were divided into two groups: successfuI-PCI and failed-PCI. All coronary artery paths of CTOs were clearly recognized by DSCT. In the successfuI-PCI group, soft plaques were detected much more often than those in the failed-PCI group, but fibrous and calcified plaques were seen more often in the failed-PCI group. Calcification severity in CTO segments showed a significant difference between the groups (P=0.014). Calcified plaques were detected in 20 (35.1%) lesions in the successfuI-PCI group. More than 70% of the failures were calcified plaques, of which there were two arc-calcified and one circular-calcified lesions. Occlusions were longer in the failed-PCI group than those in the successfuI-PCI group [(38.8±25.0) vs. (18.0±15.3) mm, respec- tively, P〈0.01]. Fewer guidewires were used in the successfuI-PCI group compared with the failed-PCI group (1.7±1.0 vs. 2.5±0.9, respectively, P〈0.01). The logistic regression analysis indicated that predictors of recanalization of CTOs included occlusion length (P=-0.0035, risk ratio (RR)=0.93) and calcification severity (P=0.05, RR=0.27). Multi-linear trends analysis showed that the factors affecting procedural time were CTO location (P=-0.0141) and occlusion length (P=0.0035). Conclusions: DSCT could delineate the path of CTOs and characterize plaques. The outcomes of PCI were related to thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) flow grade, CTO characteristics, severity of calcified plaques and the length of occlusive segments. Occlusion length and calcification severity were independent predictors of CTOs. Occlusion length and CTO segments could also help to estimate the duration of interventional procedures.展开更多

However, the complex correspondences, such as one-to-many and many-to-many ones, are usually ignored or cannot be established completely in the existing methods. Here, the essence of the complex correspondences will be analyzed. Based on the two characteristics of a straight line, which are introduced by regarding a straight line as a set of collinear points, the compatibility between the complex correspondences and the uniqueness constraint of point correspondence is proved and a new uniqueness constraint of correspondence for matching lines is proposed. Based on the analysis of the complex correspondences, a new concept of line feature group is defined to describe a set of integral correspondences among straight line features from different images and then a new algorithm for establishing all the correspondences completely is described simply. The experimental results with real stereo images illustrate that the complex correspondences among straight lines are actual cases and can be established effectively.展开更多

Therefore, the arteries and the heart cannot be easily visualized by current visualization methods. To solve the problems, we propose a new framework for arteries and cardiac visualization by combining a priori knowledge and the set operations.Firstly, a suitable region can be easily determined in the transfer function space with a priori knowledge and the visual feedback results. Secondly, the arteries and the heart can be directly extracted by the marked seed point. Finally, the arteries and the heart are separated for solving mutual occlusion through the set operations. This framework can easily solve the mutual occlusion problem in clinical visualization and greatly improve the region selection method in the transfer function space. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated on the basis of many experimental results.展开更多
