This study,composed of three be...Although investigating metaphors in advertising is gaining in popularity, there are still certain unresolved arguments, such as the interaction between elements of different modalities. This study,composed of three behavioral experiments, aims to identify how verbal anchoring(literal anchoring, metaphor anchoring and unrelated anchoring) influences the processing of pictorial metaphors in advertising, by observing the cognitive and affective indicators, advertising comprehension and advertising likeability. The results showed 1) that metaphors in pictorial modality were recognized more quickly than those in verbal modality, 2) that verbal anchoring facilitated participants ’ comprehending and appreciating of pictorial metaphors and 3) that literally-anchored metaphors with a moderate level of novelty yielded the most favorable cognitive responses. The study not only enriches the existing theoretical framework of multimodal metaphors in advertising, but also proposes an optimal match between pictorial metaphors and verbal elements, for advertisers and manufacturers to design effective multimodal advertisements.展开更多

The optimum reaction conditions of two-stage liquid hot water(LHW) pret...Increasing reducing sugars(xylose and glucose) yield for bioethanol from corn stover depends strongly on optimization of pretreatment conditions. The optimum reaction conditions of two-stage liquid hot water(LHW) pretreatment based on total sugars yield were investigated. Under optimal conditions, the recovery of glucose of corn stover after two-stage LHW pretreatment and 72 h enzymatic digestion, reached 89.55%. In addition, acetic acid-rich spent liquor pretreatment and one-stage LHW pretreatment have been carried out to make comparisons with two-stage LHW treatment. Glucose yield 89.55% is superior to the recovery 83.38% using acetic acidrich spent liquor pretreatment or 80.58% using one-stage LHW pretreatment. The production of total sugars was increased by 7.8% when compared with one-stage pretreatment. Moreover, the structural features of the treated corn stover solid residues were also investigated by XRD and SEM technology in order to clarify the effects of the reaction on corn stover. The results indicated that the two-stage LHW pretreatment was an effective pretreatment method of corn stover to get most massive resource utilization, and it could be successfully applied to corn stover.展开更多

It may occur in highly sensitive tumors, especially in childhood cancer and leukemia, whereas, it is rare in the treatment of solid tumors in adults. TLS results from a sudden and rapid release of nuclear and cytoplasmic degradation products of malignant cells. The release of these can lead to severe alterations in the metabolic prof ile. Here, we present two cases of large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated by transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) that resulted in TLS. Although TLS rarely happens in the treatment of adult hepatic tumor, only a few cases have been reported. We should keep in mind that all patients with HCC, particularly those with large and rapidly growing tumors, must be closely watched for evidence of TLS after TACE.展开更多

We presented a case with malignant obstructive jaundice that underwent trans-minor papilla biliary drainage. A 5F super slim nasobiliary tube was inserted into common bile duct successfully through minor papilla during endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography （ERCP）. The patient did not complain abdominal pain or any discomfort after procedure. Biliary drainage was effective （500-800 ml per day）. The patient＇s jaundice relieved significantly during follow-up展开更多

The study provides the main contents about the reconstruction plan of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board （PCAOB）： auditor＇s discussion and analysis （AD＆A）, required and expanded use of emphasis paragraphs in the auditor＇s report, auditor assurance on other information outside the financial statements, and clarification of language in the standard auditor＇s report. In this paper, we show that in the near horizon,the isometry group is enhanced to include the dilatation and special conformal transformation, and find the conformal transformation contains the cosmological constant. It is demonstrated that for near horizon extremal Kerr-NUT-Ads(NHEK-N-Ad S) only one rank-2 Killing tensor decomposes into a quadratic combination of the Killing vectors in terms of conformal group, while the others are functionally independent.展开更多
