[Method] Contents of 9 kinds of heavy metals including Cd, Mn, Pb, Zn and Cu in the herb were deter-mined by the method of wet digestion-flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry and atomic fluorescence spectrometry, respectively. [Results] Heavy metal contents of Cd, Mn, Pb, Fe, Cu, Zn, As, Hg and Se were 1.62-17.25, 8.93-142.53, 4.37-18.43, 103.7-242.81, 2.55-5.35, 85.40-146.30, 0.07-0.54, 0.00-0.08 and 0.00-0.47 mg/kg, respectively. According to the national food safety standards and Green Trade Standards of lmporting & Exporting Medicinal plants & Preparations, the heavy metal contents of the P. roxburghiana_samples col ected from different coun-ties in Hechi City exceeded standards or at the critical values. Among which, Cd, Pb and Zn contents of the samples are seriously higher than the standards. [Con-clusion] Therefore, the impact of soil heavy metal pol ution on the safety of edible plants in the northwest of Guangxi should be highly concerned.展开更多

[Result] The traceability management system provided the information interaction and comprehensive management platform of agricultural product quality and safety based on domestic based software for the government, enterprises and consumers. [Method] The soil heavy metal pollution status of pollution-free agricultu...[Objective] This study aimed to understand and grasp the soil heavy metal pollution status of agricultural habitat environment in Xi'an City. [Method] The soil heavy metal pollution status of pollution-free agricultural products-producing areas in 9 counties (districts) of Xi'an City was investigated. A total of 609 soil samples were collected, and their Cd, Hg, As, Pb and Cr contents were determined. In addition, the heavy metal pollution status of the collected soil samples was evaluated by Nemerow index method. [Result] The pollution in Baqiao, Chang'an; Gaoling, Lan- tian, Lintong and Yanliang was of grade I, belonging to clean level; the pollution in Hu County, Weiyang and Zhouzhi was of grade II, near the warning line, belong to relatively clean level. There was no large-area soil heavy metal pollution overall. The investigated areas could be used as production bases of pollution-free agricultural products and even high-quality agricultural products. However, the heavy met- als contents in some individual areas exceeded relevant soil environmental quality standards, and they should be avoided or forbidden during regional planning and selection of production area. [Conclusion] Soil heavy metal pollution of agricultural habitat environment in Xi'an City is generally at good status. The role of food safety has developed significantly in the last 2 decades, so today the production and processing of safe and quality food is of primary importance. Modem food production is based on principles of GAP and GMP (including GHP) and different methods and tools for quality control and assurance (IFS, HACCP, ISO-9000, ISO-9000/2010, ISO-22000, TQM). There are different techniques and methods to produce safe food and to control the quality of the foodstuffs. The modem, up-to-date technologies and measurement techniques involve the application of many physical methods - high pressure, pulsing electrical field, microwave, non-destructive techniques (e.g., INAA, NMR, NIR-NIT, PAS), radiation treatments as well. Main conclusions yield insights into the key following points: Increased food safety has been associated with higher income. Consumers and governments can afford to focus more on reducing food-borne safety risks once basic quantity needs for foods have been met or are in the process of being met. This suggests that policies focused on increasing income are the surest path to improving food safety in all countries. Quality (color, pH, texture) and safety (2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) value and biogenic amine) attributes of SLP made with broiler, mechanically deboned meat (MDM) of broiler chicken, mix of broiler chicken and beef, or mix of MDM of broiler chicken and MDM of beef were investigated, pH values of samples had similar range. Mechanically deboned meat containing samples have higher TBARS values than that of others. Samples made with MDM of broiler chicken have higher histamine, tyramine, putrescine and total biogenic amine concentrations than samples made with broiler chicken. There was no significant difference (P 〉 0.05) between total biogenic amine contents of fermented and non-fermented samples. Also, samples gave similar measured and calculated color values. Hardness, gumminess and chewiness values of samples made with MDM of broiler chicken were significantly higher (P 〈 0.05) than samples made with broiler chicken. It was observed that addition of mechanically deboned meat could result in loss of safety and quality attributes of sucuk-like products.展开更多

An analysis was carried out of the factors affecting the achievement of stable quality. The achievement of the stability of the parameters of 150 different lots of biscuits has been measured before, during and after the implementation of IMS in the manufacturing company The performed water activity analysis and sensory analysis confirmed that despite the dynamic changes in the internal and external environments as well as the significant changes in the requirements of the standards and the legislation, the implemented IMS has allowed the maintenance of the stable quality and safety of the biscuit products.展开更多
The present study was designed to test the intra-specific crossing of two Egyptian populations from African catfish (Clarias gariepinus), EI-Manzalah catfish (MCF) characterized by tolerates for poor water quality...The present study was designed to test the intra-specific crossing of two Egyptian populations from African catfish (Clarias gariepinus), EI-Manzalah catfish (MCF) characterized by tolerates for poor water quality and easily farmed in captivity and EI-Qanater catfish (QCF) characterized by rapid growth and high quality flesh, for hybrid vigor, production and food processing to create new high quality products. Crosses of these populations were carried out in EI-Gamalia hatchery, EI-Manzalah, Egypt, during spring of 2008 between MCF~~ QCF~. African catfish hybrid, MCF and QCF fingerlings with a mean weight of 24.02 + 1.38 g were stocked at a density of 50-fish per m3 in cages (112 m3 each) suspended in lake El-Manzalah. Fish were fed a formulated diet containing 31.20% crude protein and cultured for 214 days. The growth, survival and production data confirmed that catfish hybrid has been successful and showed a strong heterotic effect. Hybrid catfish had a significantly highest production, 47.5 kg per m3 and best feed conversion ratio (1.33) which demonstrates that cages are a viable alternative to ponds for the commercial production of African catfish and its hybrids. Recently, the African catfish market has required more processed products. The results indicated that: (1) there are slightly variations in African catfish population's products quality; and (2) the hot-smoked and fried-coated fish fillets products are more safe foods and acceptable to consumers due to their physic-chemical properties and microbial load acceptable results.展开更多
