In other words, for the concept to make meaning to analysts and various intellectual...The concept of justice is a complex phenomenon which has been subjected to various legal, social, and philosophical interpretations. In other words, for the concept to make meaning to analysts and various intellectual communities, it has to undergo a process of concept conceptualization and operationalisation. It is therefore this lack of univocal definition of justice that one can philosophically assert that there is no theory of justice but theories of justice. The purpose of this article is not to delve into the various analyses of theories, meanings, definitions, and/or explanations of justice but to examine John Rawls' Difference Principle of justice in the context of the Nigerian Quota System. In order to make this writing less nebulous and less ambiguous and more explicit and clear, I shall examine the definitions of the concepts of both justice and Quota System. In addition, evaluation of the philosophical and theoretical assumptions of the Rawls' theory and the Quota System will be made with a view to revealing their applicability and relevance in our real economic socio-political system (in Nigeria).展开更多
This review discusses Nezakat-Alhossaini, Youhanaee, and Moinzadeh's research study entitled "Impact of Explicit Instruction on EFL Learners' Implicit and Explicit Knowledge: A Case of English Relative Clauses." ...This review discusses Nezakat-Alhossaini, Youhanaee, and Moinzadeh's research study entitled "Impact of Explicit Instruction on EFL Learners' Implicit and Explicit Knowledge: A Case of English Relative Clauses." This study was chosen for evaluation because it strives to attach significance to explicit instruction in L2 acquisition, unlike other more recent research, which seeks to reinforce implicit instruction as it is viewed as the idealistic goal of language learning (Rebuschat & William, 2009). The present review will be developed by means of an evaluation of Alhossaini and her colleagues' study, consisting of a concise summary of the study, a classification of the philosophical perspective, the selection of criteria, and the strengths and weaknesses of the study. In this review, I hope that I succeed to broadly navigate the research enterprise, commencing with the philosophical perspective of research, such as the epistemological and ontological stances shaping the philosophical perspective and then colouring the research. By reviewing this study, I would also hope that I successfully evaluate the research quality by using appropriate criteria in an attempt to suggest potential directions for further research (under strengths and weaknesses of the study).展开更多
As is generally known, Newton's notion of universal gravitation surpassed various theories of particular gravities in the early modem age, as represented mainly by Kepler and Hooke. In his seminal work Hooke and the ...As is generally known, Newton's notion of universal gravitation surpassed various theories of particular gravities in the early modem age, as represented mainly by Kepler and Hooke. In his seminal work Hooke and the Law of Universal Gravitation: A Reappraisal of a Reappraisal Richard S. Westfall argues that Hooke could not reach beyond the concept of spatially bounded particular gravities, as he deployed the method of analogy between the material principle of congruity and incongruity and the extension of gravitational spheres and their action at a distance. However, the doctrine of universal gravitation does not exclude the nature of particular gravities; it is predicated on the notion of an infinite expansion of individual-gravitational spheres and their uniform nature, namely the mutual and centripetal attraction. In my treatise 1 attempt to reinvestigate the nature and structure of gravitation, as established historically in the framework of Newtonian Classical Mechanics, by a method of structural intuition. It examines how the structural intuition, as represented in the celestial-mechanical intuitions of Hooke and Kepler, could unfold into an innovative process within the context of early modem mechanical philosophy, attaining thus a historical siglaificance and legitimacy as against the prevailing Newtonian method of geometric-mathematical axiomatization of mechanical principles. It also explores the actual demonstrative features of the tidal phenomenon with regard to its lunar- and solar-gravitational causation, which has been considered to date to be an important piece of empirical evidence for the theory of universal gravitation.展开更多
