Aside from the similarities, the differences between the two films precisely show the cultural and social differences in reality. In Raymond Williams＇ s theory of cultural materialism, culture can be divided into three categories--the dominant, residual and emergent. In relation to this, the ＇cultural hybridity＇ can be shown clearly among the problems （eg. gender, class, sexuality, etc） that the two films involve. Then, I suggest that the relationships between Kes and the ＇emergent culture＇ is an important cultural aspect which Kes exceeds to Billy Elliot.展开更多

If this is correct, then we need not wrestle with the materialist＇s ＂hard problem＂ of explaining how consciousness can arise from the purely objective particles and forces of fundamental ptiysics, but we will need to explain in what sense microparticles and other physical objects are experiential and objectively real without embracing panpsychism. Since Whiteheadian actual entities have intrinsic natures grounding the subjective and phenomenal aspects of experience, and extrinsic relations grounding objective physical properties, we find that qualia, understood in light of Whiteheadian actual entities, can provide the metaphysical foundations for both the subjective and objective aspects of the world.展开更多

The model includes the effect of strain rate sensitivity, strain softening and strain hardening. A procedure for the identification of model parameters is developed through the use of experimental data from uniaxial tests extracted from the literature, across a variety of strain rates and below the glass transition temperature ( Tg). The numerical algorithm shows that the predictions of this model well describe the intrinsic softening upon yield threshold and the subsequent progressive orientational hardening typical for amorphous glassy polymers.展开更多
