A novel global-local discriminant analysis (GLDA) based Gaussian process regression (GPR) approach is developed for the quality prediction of nonlinear and multiphase batch processes. After the collected data is preprocessed through batchwise unfolding, the hidden Markov model (HMM) is applied to identify different operation phases. A GLDA algorithm is also presented to extract the appropriate process variables highly correlated with the quality variables, decreasing the complexity of modeling. Besides, the multiple local GPR models are built in the reduced- dimensional space for all the identified operation phases. Furthermore, the HMM-based state estimation is used to classify each measurement sample of a test batch into a corresponding phase with the maximal likelihood estimation. Therefore, the local GPR model with respect to specific phase is selected for online prediction. The effectiveness of the proposed prediction approach is demonstrated through the multiphase penicillin fermentation process. The comparison results show that the proposed GLDA-GPR approach is superior to the regular GPR model and the GPR based on HMM (HMM-GPR) model.展开更多

First, the original audio signal is segmented into frames of appointed lengths and all the element watermarks are encoded to achieve a mixed watermark. Then, the binary bits in the mixed watermark are embedded into the audio frames with the echo hiding technique. The watermark extraction can be performed without an original audio signal. Furthermore, in order to enhance the extraction accuracy and the robustness of the proposed algorithm against common signal manipulations, the autocorrelafion of the power cepstrum is utilized to estimate the echo delays in the watermarked audio frames to extract the mixed watermark and the corresponding decoding method is applied to achieve the element watermarks. Computer simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme has great robustness against common signal manipulations of Mp3 compressing, re-sampling, re-quantizing, low-pass filtering and white noise addition.展开更多

First, the SVR principle for function approximation is introduced, and an SVR method for solving linear operator equations with knowing some values of the right-hand function and without knowing its form is depicted. Then, the principle for solving the IRNPDF based on SVR and the method for constructing cross-kernel functions are proposed. Finally, an empirical example is given to verify the validity of the method. The results show that the proposed method can overcome the shortcomings of the traditional parametric methods, which have strict restrictions on the option exercise price; meanwhile, it requires less data than other non-parametric methods, and it is a promising method for the recover of IRNPDF.展开更多

However, the convention is not enforced yet and the legal gaps found on limited existing regulations do not impose strict rules on the shipping industry and at the same time offer motives for the safe recycling of ships. Ship-owners seem reluctant to send their vessels for scrap but rather prefer to employ them till the last minute, preferably in areas where the environmentally-friendly concept is not of primary importance. The dynamics of this specialized industry can be better shown by examining variables such as legal instruments, occupational health and safety hazards, geographical allocation of scrapping sites, scrap prices, safety working plans and volume to be scrapped. The next step is to build a simulation model in order to discuss the relevant scenarios. The first scenario is based on the current conditions where the ship-owner's decision is mainly affected by the fluctuations of the market and whether the effectiveness of existing regulations can improve the working environment in terms of health and safety. The second scenario refers to the situation when the IMO Convention is implemented, then it will produce two major recycling markets, the first one for the convention ships and the second for non-convention ships.展开更多
