[Method] An incomplete diallel cross of four cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) lines and four restorer lines was designed to investigate the combining ability for yield and yield components of Yinshui-type japonica hybrid rice. [Result] The variances of general combining ability (GCA) for yield traits were extremely significantly different. GCA variances of male parents were higher than that of female parents except for seed-setting rate. The variances of specific combining ability (SCA) for grain yield per plant, number of effective spikes and seed-setting rate were significantly or extremely significantly different. 139A and Wanlun 422 exhibited higher GCA effects. Most yield traits of these two parents be- longed to type II. Combinations 139AxWanlun 422 and Liaojingl0AxWanlun 422 had relatively high grain yield per plant and SCA effects. GCA effects of restorer lines and SCA effects of combinations greatly affected yield traits, while GCA ef- fects of CMS lines slightly affected yield traits. [Conclusion] In this study, restorer lines exhibited greater genetic differences and impact on yield traits than CMS lines; 139A and Wanlun 422 possessed higher application potential.展开更多

However, the effects of anthropogenic activities and natural environmental variation on polychaete assemblage are rarely addressed. The goals of this study are to identify the effects of natural environmental variation and anthropogenic stress on poly- chaete assemblage, and to explore the relationship between the polychaete assemblage structure and anthropogenic stress without considering the natural environmental variation. Based on the data collected from the surveys conducted in the tidal fiat of Jiaozhou Bay, the relationship between polychaete assemblage structure and environmental variables was determined using multivariate statis- tical methods including hierarchical cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling (MDS) and canonical correspondence analysis (CCA). The results showed that the polychaete assemblage was dominated by two species, Amphictenejaponica and Heteromastusfiliformis, and could be divided into two subgroups characterized by high and low species abundance. CCA illustrated that the natural environ- mental variables including water temperature and the distance from coast had primary effects on the polychaete assemblage structure; while stress of contaminants, such as As and Hg, had the secondary influences; and stress from the aquacultured species, mainly Ruditapes philippinarum, had a limited effect. Colinearity between the natural environmental variables and anthropogenic stress variables caused a critical divergence in the interpretation of CCA results, which highlighted the risk of a lack of information in en- vironment assessment. Glycinde gurjanovae, Sternaspis scutata and Eulalia bilineata may serve as the 'contamination indicators', which need to be confirmed in future studies.展开更多

Since macroscopic geometric factors obviously influence the stress flaws in joints, the shapes and sizes of ASTBs should represent the stress distribution around cracks in the hot spots. In this paper, we introduce a geometric magnification factor for reflecting the macroscopic geometric effects of ASTB crack features and construct a 3D finite element model to simulate the distribution of stress intensity factor(SIF) at the crack endings. Sensitivity analyses with respect to the geometric ratio Ht/Lb, R/Lb, Lt/Lb are performed, and the relations between the geometric factor and these parameters are presented. A set of parametric equations with respect to the geometric magnification factor is obtained using a curve fitting technique. A nonlinear relationship exists between the SIF and the ratio of ASTB arm to toe length. When the ratio of ASTB arm to toe length reaches a marginal value, the SIF of crack at the ASTB toe is not influenced by ASTB geometric parameters. In addition, the arc shape of the ASTB slope edge can transform the stress flowing path, which significantly affects the SIF at the ASTB toe. A proper method to reduce stress concentration is setting a slope edge arc size equal to the ASTB arm length.展开更多

Different crack aspect ratios, a/b, ranging from 0.0 to 1.2 and relative crack depths, a/D, ranging from 0.1 to 0.6 were considered. Since the loading was non-symmetrical for torsion loadings, a whole finite element model was constructed. Then, the individual and combined bending and torsion loadings were remotely applied to the model. The equivalent SIF method, F*EQ, was then used explicitly to combine the individual SIFs from the bending and torsion loadings. A comparison was then carried out with the combined SIF, F*FE, obtained using the finite element analysis (FEA) under similar loadings. It was found that the equivalent SIF method successfully predicted the combined SIF for Mode I. However, discrepancies between the results determined from the different approaches occurred when Fm was involved. It was also noted that the predicted F* EE using FEA was higher than the F*EQ predicted through the equivalent SIF method due to the difference in crack face interactions.展开更多
