And interest in introducing electrical resistivity measurement to assess the quality of cement treated soils has increased markedly recently due to its economical, non-destructive, and relatively non-invasive advantages. This work aims to quantify the effect of cement content (aw), porosity (nt), and curing time(T) on the electrical resistivity (p) and unconfined compression strength (UCS) of cement treated soil. A series of electrical resistivity tests and UCS tests of cement treated soil specimen after various curing periods were carried out. A modified Archie empirical law was proposed taking into account the effect of cement content and curing period on the electrical resistivity of cement treated soil. The results show that nt/(aw·T) and nt/(aw·T^1/2) ratio are appropriate parameters to assess electrical resistivity and UCS of cement treated soil, respectively. Finally, the relationship between UCS and electrical resistivity was also established.展开更多

In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy control method based on an affine nonlinear temperature model is developed to control the temperature of the SOFC within a specified range. Fuzzy logic systems are used to approximate nonlinear functions in the SOFC system and an adaptive technique is employed to construct the controller. Compared with the traditional fuzzy and proportion-integral-derivative (PID) control, the simulation results show that the designed adaptive fuzzy control method performed much better. So it is feasible to build an adaptive fuzzy controller for temperature control of the SOFC.展开更多

The influence of preparation conditions such as the dosage and feed mode of the catalyst, concentration of the encapsulated NiCl2, and concentration and structure of diisocyanates on the breakage of the microcapsules have been evaluated. The results show thatbreakage is strongly dependent on the rate of polymerization and stability of initial emulsion. The improved microcapsules with low breakage have been produced under the optimum conditions. Furthermore, the obtained microcapsules capsules immobilizing NiCl2 as a recyclable catalyst is successfully used in benzaldehyde reduction.展开更多

However,SOFCs present a challenging control problem owing to their slow dynamics, nonlinearity and tight operating constraints. A novel data-driven nonlinear control strategy was proposed to solve the SOFC control problem by combining a virtual reference feedback tuning (VRFT) method and support vector machine. In order to fulfill the requirement for fuel utilization and control constraints,a dynamic constraints unit and an anti-windup scheme were adopted. In addition,a feedforward loop was designed to deal with the current disturbance. Detailed simulations demonstrate that the fast response of fuel flow for the current demand disturbance and zero steady error of the output voltage are both achieved. Meanwhile, fuel utilization is kept almost within the safe region.展开更多
