The context also included the more than one generation of perverse military rule. In each of the historical epochs, no African leadership built the youth; there was no ideology or a value system transmitted to the youth. Accordingly it becomes increasingly difficult in the twenty-first century attempting to mobilize the African youth as meaningful change agents. The possible exception to these failures was the Ghana Young Pioneers. The manifestation of this neglect in most parts of sub-Saharan Africa is the hoard of jobless youth involved in crime and other deviant behaviors. Thus to build the youth who will develop the society, African states will necessarily have to invest in the youth, evolve an ideology and an African world view, which will be transmitted to the youth, and which will constitute a driving force for their mobilization as critical agents of change.展开更多

According to Marx, socialism would replace capitalism and internationalism would occur through the dissolution of nation states. Later, Marxist circles presented a historical arrow in the form of 〉 capitalism 〉 socialism 〉 internationalism. Taking into account recent steps of globalization and measures imposed by national governments in the face of the deep financial crisis of 2008, it is interesting to compare the above theory with some historical events that have happened since the 19th century. Much has happened that Marx did not predict. Considering the world trajectory since the Second World War, it seems that the historical arrow has the form of 〉 capitalism 〉 internationalism 〉 hybridism of capitalism and socialism 〉?展开更多

In recent decades, the number of the tourists has a remarkable increase in China and also other regions of the globe. However, it is still unclear whether or to what extent the tourism can affect the UHI. Here, we investigate the role of the tourism for the UHI during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday based on a case study in tropical Sanya City, which attracts many tourists for celebrating the CNY and enjoying the warm climate during the holiday. We find that the UHI effects expressed as daily mean (ATmean), maximum (ATmax), and minimum (ATmin) surface air temperature differences between urban and nearby nonurban stations averaged over the period of 1995-2004 during the CNY week were 0.48 ℃ (39 %), 0.66 ℃ (61%), and 0.42 ℃ (26 %) higher than those averaged over the background period (8 weeks including 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after the CNY week), respectively. These changes are all significant at the 99 % confidence level. Our findings highlight previously unidentified impact of the tourism on the UHI based on a case study in Sanya City, Hainan Province of China.展开更多

This great revival invites people to refer to the most prosperous time of Chinese history, when China had been the greatest nation in the world both economically and militarily. Mr. Wang Yi, the new minister of foreign affairs, has explained that the realization of Chinese dreams, albeit the great revival of the Chinese nation needs a peaceful and stable neighborhood (Wang Yi: Insist on Peaceful Development, Realise the Chinese Dream of Nation's Revival: http:// theory.people.com.cn/n/2014/0217/c40531-24378766.html). Yet now the most prominent threat, as China's military and economic powers quickly rise, is the deficiency in trust toward China. This lack of mutual trust is especially important among East Asian countries (Ba and Shen in Jilin Univ J Soc Sci Edit 54(3): 13-20, 2014, p. 14), the most direct neighborhood of China. In the article, I will analyze the historical and political origins of mistrust toward China, and argue that multilateralism is a highly possible solution for the problem of trust deficiency. Thus, adopting multilateralism is the key for realizing Chinese dreams, because it generates trusts by regulating states' behavior through institutionalization of collaboration.展开更多
