The automatic all-sky imager developed by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,provides all-sky visible images in the red,green,and blue channels.This paper presents three major cali-bratio...The automatic all-sky imager developed by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,provides all-sky visible images in the red,green,and blue channels.This paper presents three major cali-bration experiments of the all-sky imager,geometric an-gular calibration,optical calibration,and radiometric calibration,and then infers an algorithm to retrieve rela-tive radiance from the all-sky images.Field experiments show that the related coefficient between retrieved radi-ance and measured radiance is about 0.91.It is feasible to use the algorithm to retrieve radiance from images.The paper sets up a relationship between radiance and the im-age,which is useful for using the all-sky image in nu-merical-simulations that predict more meteorological pa-rameters.展开更多
This paper presents the studies of the refining of IKONOS-2 RPC, the transform of the datum, the mode of the control point distribution and the method of IKONOS stereo triangulation, so that IKONOS imagery can be used...This paper presents the studies of the refining of IKONOS-2 RPC, the transform of the datum, the mode of the control point distribution and the method of IKONOS stereo triangulation, so that IKONOS imagery can be used to collect the precise geospatial data and produce the large scale map.The transform between the IKONOS-2 image space and the national coordinate system based on the RPC have been developed, and the results of block adjustment with various control schemes in a practical project near Himalayas have been examined and analysed. The encouraging results of high positioning accuracy have been obtained.展开更多

However, it is not unusual to realize the emphasis of scientific thought ...In Bachelard's thought, the understanding "of the other" in scientific thought is given usually by means of empirical or rational discourse. However, it is not unusual to realize the emphasis of scientific thought as rationally justifiable. Certainly, the dynamics of scientific thought throughout history has not been indifferent to other possibilities of epistemological construction. We cannot escape the facts: Science needs linguistic devices to strengthen its principles and criteria for validation. The aim of this paper is to answer, based on a new conception of metaphor, under what conditions metaphor can be a "physical metaphor" and the extent to which the symbolism in general brings a special light gain of sense to the understanding of physical reality that surrounds us.展开更多
