Watersheld algorithm is used to choose the suitable initial gray level threshold whichis used to change the gray level images taken by PIV to black and white ones, then every particle inan image is isolated totally. For every isolating particle, its contour is tracked by the edgeenhancement filter function and kept by Freeman s chain code. Based on a set of particle s chincode, its size and size distribution are calculated and sorted. Finally, the experimental data ofcalcium particles and water drops, separately injected into the activation chamber, and the erroranalysis of data are given out.展开更多

Velocity compo- nents, fluctuation velocity, Reynolds stress and recirculation zone length are obtained, respectively. Influences of geometric parameter of primary hole, arrangement of primary hole, inlet air temperature, first-stage swirler an- gle and fuel/air ratio on flow field are investigated, respectively. The experimental results reveal that the primary recirculation zone lengths of combustion flow field are shorter than those of cold flow field, and the primary reeir- culation zone lengths decrease with the increase of inlet air temperature and fuel/air ratio. The change of the geo- metric parameter of primary hole casts an important influence on the swirler flow field in two-stage swirler com- bustor.展开更多

The two reference frames will keep in the same direction finally by adjusting according to space angles. This problem was solved by a new high-precision measurement system composed of a double-theodolite and a set of communication system. In the survey system, two TDA5005 total stations from Leica Company will be selected as the double-theodolite and the interdependence of both coordinate systems can be achieved by moving the stations only at one time. Therefore, this measurement system provides a highly efficient and high-precision surveying method to the image calibration of the space photographic instrument. According to the experiment, its measuring accuracy can reach arc-second level.展开更多

Methods Orbits of 50 volunteers (25 male and 25 female) were scanned with a multislice CT scanner. For each subject, one axial image at the central level of the eyeball, one coronal image about 1 cm behind globe, and two oblique sagittal images respectively along the left and right optic nerve were used for measurements of the thickness and width of EOMs. The statistic significance of measurement value between male and female and between left and right eyes was evaluated. Results There were no significant differences in the thickness and width of superior muscle group, lateral rectus, medial rectus, lateral rectus, superior oblique, inferior oblique and the thickness of levator palpebrae superioris between the left and right eyes as well as between male and female groups (all P>0.05). The thickness of superior muscle group and inferior rectus had not significant difference (2.9±0.7 vs. 3.3±0.8 mm, P=0.162), while the thickness of medial rectus was significantly higher than that of lateral rectus (3.1±0.5 vs. 2.2±0.6 mm, P=0.000). Conclusions The CT measurement of extraocular musculature is simple and time-saving and can be applied in the clinical work. The normative data obtained may be useful in determining pathologic enlargement of the EOMs in both thyroid-associated orbitopathy patients and other various orbital conditions.展开更多

This paper presents a method for this task by using boosted local pattern detector constructed from two local features including Haar-like and oriented gradient features. The whole process is composed of three stages. In the first stage, local appearance features of vehicles and non-vehicle objects are extracted. Haar-tike and oriented gradient features are extracted separately in this stage as local features. In the second stage, Adabeost algorithm is used to select the most discriminative features as weak detectors from the two local feature sets, and a strong local pattern detector is built by the weighted combination of these selected weak detectors. Finally, vehicle detection can be performed in still images by using the boosted strong local feature detector. Experiment results show that the local pattern detector constructed in this way combines the advantages of Haar-like and oriented gradient features, and can achieve better detection results than the detector by using single Haar-like features.展开更多

Particle image velocimetry was used to measure velocity fields in three burners. First, the comparison of flames in bluff-body stabilized burners with and without swirl is presented. The results of the experiments present the variations of bluff-body stabilized flame when swirl is added into burner: the maximum reverse flow velocity and the maximum mean average radial velocity decrease; the maximum radial rootmean squared fluctuating (rms) velocity increases; the values of the axial velocity peak on the side of nozzle axis are lower, and the distance between the peak and centerline is bigger; the location of the maximum radial rms velocity moves to the outlet of annular air-flow from central recirculation zone (CRZ). Then, the comparison of flames in swirl burners with and without bluff-body is provided. The results of the experiments show the changes of swirling flame when bluff-body is added into swirl burner: the air vortex in the CRZ moves to the burner; the peak values of axial mean and rms velocity decrease; the distance between centerline and the mean axial and rms velocity peak increase; the peak of mean radial velocity decreases, and the peak of rms raidial velocity increase. The data from this experiment can also be established as benchmarks for the development and validation of combustion numerical simulations.展开更多
