Geophysical Model Functions (GMFs) have been widely applied for wind field retrieval from SAR images. Among them CMOD4 has a good performance under low and moderate wind conditions. Although CMOD5 is developed recently with a more fundamental basis, it has ambiguity of wind speed and a shape gradient of normalized radar cross section under low wind speed condition. This study proposes a method of wind field retrieval from SAR image by com-bining CMOD5 and CMOD4 Five VV-polarisation RADARSAT2 SAR images are implemented for validation and the retrieval re-suits by a combination method (CMOD5 and CMOD4) together with CMOD4 GMF are compared with QuikSCAT wind data. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) of wind speed is 0.75 m s-1 with correlation coefficient 0.84 using the combination method and the RMSE of wind speed is 1.01 m s-1 with correlation coefficient 0.72 using CMOD4 GMF alone for those cases. The proposed method can be applied to SAR image for avoiding the internal defect in CMOD5 under low wind speed condition.展开更多

Organizations started to use electronic commerce by internet facilities nearby their traditional marketing methods to increase their sales and profits. E-Commerce has many advantages when compared to traditional trade. This paper aims to take out these advantages for the companies which want to make use of electronic commerce and includes important advices for these companies. The paper also includes the basic version of an e-commerce business, by analysing one of the most successful firms in Turkey, yemeksepeti.com in terms of an Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD) and Event Driven Process (EDP) to explain the organizations how an e-commerce business model should be constructed systematically. An ERD is a data modeling technique which graphically illustrates an information system's entities and the relationships between those entities. On the other hand, EDP is a chain for the modeling language which is used for describing business processes and workflows of an organization. This study examines yemeksepeti.com for providing an example of these two diagrams, which should be a milestone for the newcomers of an e-commerce. Organizing an e-commerce should start with the software designs and these examples of ERD and EDP which are the base for the software of an e-commerce business. The limitations of the paper include the examination of an only one company which operates only in Turkey, thus the further research should examine a global company and/or an e-commerce business that operates in several industries.展开更多

This paper aims to show off the way Weyl's account of abstraction could offer a reply to Benacerraf's (1973) challenge to realism. Benacerraf argued that mathematical realism is not associated with a plausible epistemology about human access to abstract objects. Weyl deals with the method of abstraction by investigating certain cases of Fregean abstraction principles. He thinks that we can introduce shapes of geometrical images, integers mod m, circles, directions of lines etc. by means of certain creative acts of consciousness, especially intentionality towards proper relations between the elements of an initial domain. Weyl puts emphasis on intentions towards certain invariant characteristics of items that are involved in equivalence relations. Further, he claims that those invariants are transformed into ideal objects through a finite process that is involved in intuition. This paper, in the first place, attempts to make explicit Weyl's phenomenological leanings. Secondly, it argues that Weyl's explanation of how ideal mathematical objects become present to mind can address the epistemic issue concerning mathematical knowledge and can also be associated with a particular view which is implicit in his philosophy and retains realistic elements. Hence, it can address Benacerraf's problem.展开更多

The significances and constructions of OSRM are analyzed. Both the fundamental facts and the important natures that the things which are interested by Objects Served (OS) (e. g. publishers and readers) and the server (e. g. digital libraries are the servers of publishers and readers) will not be the same completely although there are a lot of common benefits between OS and servers, are indeed clarified. The valuable information, which should be used by OS and their server, is often hidden behind them. Thus, how to find, manage and control the relationship among OS and their servers is very necessary and important for the common benefits among all of them.(e. g. the three dimensions of OSRM in digital library system and its overall framwork are proposed. The different strategies to different cases in the digital library's multidimensional framework are analyzed.)展开更多

The authors' focus is the design of a tool for educational purposes and its implementation on e-learning database course. The tool presents two stages of database design. The first stage is to draw ERD graphically and validate it. The drawing is done by a learner. Then at second stage, the system enables automatically transformation of ERD to relational database schema by using common rules. Thus, the learner could understand more easily how to apply the theoretical material. A detailed description of system functionalities and algorithm for the conversion are proposed. Finally, a user interface and usage aspects are exposed.展开更多

The author extends Pott and Bradley's method to a much broader case by proposing the concept of generalized difference sets. Some necessary conditions for the existence of generalized difference sets are established by means of some Diophantine equations. The author also provides an algorithm to determine the existence of generalized difference sets in the cyclic group Zv. Some examples are presented to illustrate that our method works.展开更多

Accord- ingly, based on the control framework of "Neural Control - Active Contraction of Muscle - Passive Deformation", the elec- tromyography (EMG) signals, the mechanical properties and the constitutive relationship of skin, muscle, and body trunk, as well as morphological parameters of crucian carp, are investigated with experiments, from which a simplified database of bio- mechanical "digital fish" is established. First, the EMG signals from three lateral superficial red muscles of crucian carp, which was evolving in the C-start movement, were acquired with a self-designing amplifier. The modes of muscle activity were also investigated. Secondly, the Young's modulus and the reduced relaxation function of crucian carp's skin and muscle were de- termined by failure tests and relaxation tests in uniaxial tensile ways, respectively. Viscoelastic models were adopted to deduce the constitutive relationship. The mechanical properties and the angular stiffness of different sites on the crucian carp's body trunk were obtained with dynamic bending experiments, where a self-designing dynamic bending test machine was employed. The conclusion was drawn regarding the body trunk of crucian carp under dynamic bending deformation as an approximate elastomer. According to the above experimental results, a possible benefit of body effective stiffness increasing with a little energy dissipation was discussed. Thirdly, the distribution of geometric parameters and weight parameters for a single experi- mental individual and multiple individuals of crucian carp was studied with experiments. Finally, considering all the above re- suits, generic experimental data were obtained by normalization, and a preliminary biomechanical "digital fish" database for crucian carp was established.展开更多
