Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) thick film diamond is a promising material for the machining of HPL flooring. In the present work, CVD thick film diamond tools were used to mill the wear resistance layer of HPL flooring. Wear volumes of flank face were examined by optical microscopy, and micro wear morphologies were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The experiments revealed that the predominant wear characteristics of CVD diamond tools were transgranular cleavage wear and intergranular peeling of the CVD diamond. Experimental results also showed that twin characteristic, cavity defect, micro crack and grain size of CVD thick film diamond contributed greatly to the wear process of CVD thick film diamond tools. The effects caused by the factors were also analyzed in detail in the paper.展开更多

TiB2/Al composite was produced by incorporating K2TiF6, KBF4 salts and other agents into Al melt. As a master alloy, TiB2/Al composite was used to manufacture TiB2/ZA27 composite, which results in the generation of well-distributed reinforcing TiB2 phase. The hardness, friction and wear behavior of TiB2/ZA27 composite were investigated. The results show that the hardness of the composite is enhanced with increasing the content of TiB2 particles, the incorporation of TiB2 reduces the wear rate of TiB2/ZA27 composite and improves the friction property under lubricated and dry sliding friction conditions. The worn track width of ZA27 alloy is 1.6 and 2.5 times as long as that of (2.1%)TiB2/ZA27 composite at 150N and 700N load under lubricated conditions, which indicates that TiB2/ZA27 composite possesses higher bearing ability.展开更多

First, the damping is presented for vibration mitigation of structures located in seismically active zones. A new method for quick design of friction or yielding damping devices is presented. The effectiveness of the damping system employing such FDDs in a jacket platform is evaluated numerically. The influence of key parameters of the damping system on the vibration suppression of the offshore structure is studied in detail. To examine the vibration control effectiveness of the FDD for the jacket platform, performance of the controlled structure under the seismic forces is studied using numerical simulations. A parametric study is undertaken to discover the optimized slip load and brace area of the FDD. It is shown that the FDD is effective in mitigating the dynamic responses of the offshore platform structure.展开更多
