Anthropogenic aerosol concentrations (inorganic + carbonaceous) were higher in March 2006 and 2008, whereas soil dust reached its highest levels in March 2006 and 2010, resulting in stronger aerosol radiative forcings in these periods. The domain and five-year (2006-10) monthly mean concentrations of anthropogenic and dust aerosols, AOD, and radiative forcings at the surface (SURF) and at the top of the atmosphere (TOA) in March were 2.4 μg m 3 13.1 lag m^-3, 0.18, -19.0 W m^-2, and -7.4 W m^-2, respectively. Heterogeneous reactions led to an increase of total inorganic aerosol concentration; however, the ambient inorganic aerosol concentration decreased, resulting in a smaller AOD and weaker aerosol radiative forcings. In March 2006 and 2010, the changes in ambient inorganic aerosols, AOD, and aerosol radiative forcings were more evident. In terms of the domain and five-year averages, the total inorganic aerosol concentrations increased by 13.7% (0.17 μg m^-3) due to heterogeneous reactions, but the ambient inorganic aerosol concentrations were reduced by 10.5% (0.13 lag m-3). As a result, the changes in AOD, SURF and TOA radiative forcings were estimated to be -3.9% (-0.007), -1.7% (0.34 W m^-2), and -4.3% (0.34 W m^-2), respectively, in March over East Asia.展开更多

The seismic response of soil layer sites are calculated using the one-dimensional equivalent linear method in the frequency domain by choosing the Taft,Kobe and El-centro records as the ground motion input. The results show that the impact of shear velocity variability on the surface ground motion is in relation to the soil layer structure and ground motion input parameters such as amplitude and spectral characteristic. With the increase of shear velocity, the PGA( peak ground acceleration)on the surface of site will increase, however, the characteristic period of the acceleration response spectra is decreasing.展开更多

In this study, two Trx cDNAs were cloned from the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis using rapid amplification of cDNA ends-polymerase chain reaction (RACE-PCR). The two cDNAs were named MgTrxl and MgTrx2, respectively. The open reading frames of MgTrxl and MgTrx2 were 318 and 507 base pairs (bp) and they encoded proteins of 105 and 168 amino acids with estimated molecular masses of 11.45 and 18.93 kDa, respectively. Sequence analysis revealed that both proteins possessed the conserved active site dithiol motif Cys-Gly-Pro-Cys. In addition, MgTrx2 also possessed a putative mitochondrial targeting signal suggesting that it is located in the mitochondria. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) revealed that both MgTrxl and MgTrx2 were constitutively expressed in all tissues examined. The MgTrxl transcript was most abundant in hemocytes and gills, whereas the MgTrx2 transcript was most abundant in gonad, hepatopancreas, gill and hemocytes. Following Vibrio anguillarum challenge, the expression of MgTrxl was up-regulated and reached its peak, at a value 10-fold the initial value, at 24 h. Subsequently, expression returned back to the original level. In contrast, the expression level of MgTrx2 was down-regulated following bacterial stimulation, with one fifth of the control level evident at 12 h post challenge. These results suggest that MgTrxl and MgTrx2 may play important roles in the response ofM. galloprovincialis to bacterial challenge.展开更多

However, the contribution of the encapsulated components to the ORR activity is still unclear compared with the well-recognized surface coordinated FeN_x/C structure. Using the strong complexing effect of the iron component with anions, cyanide(CN^-) in alkaline and thiocyanate(SCN^-) in acidic media, the metal containing active sites are electrochemically probed. Three representative catalysts are chosen for a comparison including the as-prepared encapsulated G@Fe, commercial Fe/N/C catalyst with iron–nitrogen coordinated surface functionalities and molecular iron phthalocyanine(Fe Pc) containing well-defined structures and compositions. It was found that all samples showed significant shifts of half-wave potentials indicating that surface Fe coordinated sites in all cases. The G@Fe catalyst showed the weakest poisoning effect(the lowest shifts of half-wave potential) compared to the Fe/N/C and Fe Pc catalysts in both electrolytes. These results could be explained that the encapsulated iron components influence the FeN_x/C and/or N_xC surface functionality.展开更多
