In recent years,a new type of foundation named composite piled raft foundation (also called long short composite piled raft) has been developed.Where designing shallow foundations would mean unacceptable settlement,or...In recent years,a new type of foundation named composite piled raft foundation (also called long short composite piled raft) has been developed.Where designing shallow foundations would mean unacceptable settlement,or other environmental risks exist which could impair the structure in the future,composite piled raft foundations could be used.Finite element method was applied to study the behavior of this type of foundation subjected to vertical loading.In order to determine an optimal pile arrangement pattern which yields the minimum settlement,various pile arrangements under different vertical stress levels were investigated.Results show that with increasing the vertical stress on the raft,the effectiveness of the arrangements of short and long piles become more visible.In addition,a new factor named "composite piled raft efficiency" (CPRE) has been defined which determines the efficiency of long short piles arrangement in a composite piled raft foundation.This factor will increase when short piles take more axial stresses and long piles take less axial stresses.In addition,it is found that the changes in settlements for different long short piles arrangement are in a well agreement with changes in values of CPRE ratio.Thus,CPRE ratio can be used as a factor to determine the efficiency of piles arrangements in composite piled raft foundation from the view point of reducing raft settlements.展开更多
The S wave velocity structure of the earth below Eastern Southeast Asia has been investigated by analyzing the seismogram from surface wave to multiple depth waves in the time domain and three Cartesian components sim...The S wave velocity structure of the earth below Eastern Southeast Asia has been investigated by analyzing the seismogram from surface wave to multiple depth waves in the time domain and three Cartesian components simultaneously.The wave passes across the front area of subduction zone between the Philippine plate and the Asian plate.The main data are waveform comparisons,instead of the arrival times.The synthetic seismogram is calculated using the GEMINI method.The synthetic seismogram constructed by PREMAN global earth model deviates greatly from the measured one.To solve this problem,corrections are needed for the β speed structure.Corrections cover the gradient change of β_h,which turns from negative to positive in upper mantle layers as in the PREMAN,change of earth crust depth and change of zero order coefficients of β velocity function in all earth mantle layers.So,the fitting is obtained,as well as the arrival time or the waveform of Love and Rayleigh surface waves,the S wave and the repetitive depth waves ScS_2 and ScS_3.This result reveals that the Southeast Asia,being stretched due to tectonic release,has a mantle in some parts with negative anomaly of S wave velocity and vertical anisotropy in all earth mantle layers.展开更多

In order to study these characteristics, experiments and model analyses were c...The permeability and porosity of coal seams are anisotropic, and the variation of confining stress may induce deformation in coal samples. In order to study these characteristics, experiments and model analyses were conducted to understand the behaviors of anisotropic stress sensitivity of lean coal samples. The results showed as the closure of cleats and the generation of micro-cracks, the strong stress sensitivity of coal samples and the discrete changes in porosity were caused by confining pressure changes. In the compression period, the anisotropy trend first increased, and then decreased. In the direction perpendicular to the bedding plane, the permeability decrease rate and the irreversible damage rate were the highest. In the direction parallel to the cleats, permeability recovery rate was higher and the irreversible damage rate was lower along butt cleats. Compared to the cube root of permeability to porosity, a 1/6 power relationship was proved to be closer to the experiment results, the new relationship had the highest fit level in the face cleat direction, and the lowest fit level in the vertical direction展开更多
