The results show that the optimal initial perturbations of temperature and salinity exciting the strongest decadal THC variations have similar structures: the perturbations are mainly in the northwestern basin at a depth ranging from 1500 to 3000 m. These temperature and salinity perturbations act as the optimal precursors for future modifications of the THC, highlighting the importance of observations in the northwestern basin to monitor the variations of temperature and salinity at depth. The decadal THC variation in the nonlinear model initialized by the optimal salinity perturbations is much stronger than that caused by the optimal temperature perturbations, indicating that salinity variations might play a relatively important role in exciting the decadal THC variability. Moreover, the decadal THC variations in the tangent linear and nonlinear models show remarkably different characteristics, suggesting the importance of nonlinear processes in the decadal variability of the THC.展开更多

This study aims to utilize geo-informatics technology to increase accuracy of a shoreline prediction model along two study sites in Samutprakarn province and in Prachuabkirikhan province. Predicting coastline change using remote sensing together with GIS (geographic information system) is a spat^o-temporal technology, which can continuously provide perspectives of coastal areas. Due to a long term of operational period of LANDSAT satellite, it is useful to enhance accuracy of prediction model. LANDSAT-5 TM images acquired during 1999-2009 were used to produce historical shoreline vectors. Physical data were modified to be input data of digital shoreline analysis system. The model was validated. Linear regressions were applied in order to derive equations of erosion magnitude. The result presents that averaged erosion and accretion rate along Samutprakarn province was 22.30 meters/year and 2.94 meters/year, respectively. On the other hand, the average rate of coastal erosion along Prachuabkirikhan province was much lower, being 2.48 meters/year while the accretion rate was approximately 4.11 meters/year. The predicted shoreline change at Samutprakarn province in 2019 is about -132.69 ~ 0.758 meters while at Prachuabkirikhan is 40.58 ~ 0.0012 meters. In conclusion, this prediction model focused the changing of shoreline in long term and accuracy of the model could be improved by increasing number of shorelines vectors, transect intervals and resolution of satellite images. Clearly, the model is flexible and can be applied in other particular areas for coastal zone management in Thailand.展开更多

The model was calibrated and verified by using BP neural network with observed meteorological and runoff data from Daiying Hydrological Station in the Chaohe River of Hebei Province in 1956–2000. Compared with auto-regression model, linear multi-regression model and linear mixed regression model,NMR can improve forecasting precision remarkably. Therefore, the simulation of climate change scenarios was carried out by NMR. The results show that the nonlinear mixed regression model can simulate annual river runoff well.展开更多

By constructing an example, first it is illustrated that the classical solution to this kind of Cauchy problem may blow up in a finite time, even if the system is weakly linearly degenerate. Then some lower bounds of the life-span of classical solutions are given in the case that the system is weakly linearly degenerate. These estimates imply that, when the system is weakly linearly degenerate, the classical solution exists almost globally in time. Finally, it is proved that Theorems 1.1-1.3 in [2] are still valid for this kind of initial data.展开更多

In order to develop this computational approach, we constructed the anisotropy energy of tetragonal variants, which is used instead of Landau-Devonshire potential in the conventional phase field method, resulting in that much fewer parameters are needed for simulations. This approach is advantageous in simulations of emerging ferroelectric materials. We employ it to study the formation and evolution of domains in tetragonal barium titanate single crystal, as well as the nonlinear behaviors under cyclical stress and electric field loading. A multi-rank laminated ferroelectric domain pattern, 90° domain switching accompanied by polarization rotation, and 180° domain switching accompanied by move of domain wall are predicted. It is found that the speed of 90° domain switching is slower than that of 180° domain switching, due to both polarization and transformation strain changed in 90° domain switching. It also suggests that large strain actuation can be generated in single crystal ferroelectrics via combined electromechanical loading inducing 90° domain switching. The good agreement between simulation results and experimental measurements is observed.展开更多

It helps us to understand the dynamical procedure of population changes in biological population model and provides valuable predictions. In this model, we establish a variety of exact solutions. To study the exact solutions, we used a fractional complex transform to convert the particular partial differential equation of fractional order into corresponding partial differential equation and modified exp-function method is implemented to investigate the nonlinear equation. Graphical demonstrations along with the numerical data reinforce the efficacy of the used procedure. The specified idea is very effective, unfailing, well-organized and pragmatic for fractional PDEs and could be protracted to further physical happenings.展开更多
