The train schedule usually includes train stop schedule,routing scheme and formation scheme.It is the basis of subway transportation.Combining the practical experience of transport organizations and the principle of the best match between transport capacity and passenger flow demand,taking the minimum value of passenger travel costs and corporation operating costs as the goal,considering the constraints of the maximum rail capacity,the minimum departure frequency and the maximum available electric multiple unit,an optimization model for city subway Y-type operation mode is constructed to determine the operation section of mainline as well as branch line and the train frequency of the Y-type operation mode.The particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm based on classification learning is used to solve the model,and the effectiveness of the model and algorithm is verified by a practical case.The results show that the length of branch line in Y-type operation affects the cost of waiting time of passengers significantly. 展开更多

The rapid development of urban rail transit brings convenience to the public,but its huge energy consumption problem cannot be ignored.A microgrid composed of photovoltaic power generation unit,regenerative braking energy feedback unit and battery energy storage unit is proposed,which provides green power for the station.In order to suppress the fluctuation of photovoltaic power generation and the intermittence of regenerative braking feedback energy,the energy management mode of microgrid is designed according to the illumination situation,braking energy feedback situation,battery state of charge and so on.In addition,a coordination control method based on virtual synchronous generator(VSG)is proposed to realize smooth switching among modes.Finally,the proposed energy management and coordination control method for elevated station microgrid is verified by Matlab/Simulink.The results show that the elevated station microgrid can operate safely and reliably under various energy management modes and realize smooth switching among modes. 展开更多

With the rapid growth of vehicle population and vehicle miles traveled, automobile emission has become a severe issue in the metropolitan cities of China. There are policies that concentrate on the management of emission sources. However, improving the operation of the transportation system through apps on mobile devices, especially navigation apps, may have a unique role in promoting urban air quality. Real-time traveler information can not only help travelers avoid traffic congestion, hut also advise them to adjust their departure time, mode, or route, or even to cancel trips. Will such changes in personal travel patterns have a significant impact in decreasing emissions? If so, to what extent will they impact urban air quality? The aim of this study is to determine how urban traffic emission is affected by the use of navigation apps. With this work, we attempt to answer the question of whether the real-time traffic information provided by navigation apps can help to improve urban air quality. Some of these findings may provide references for the formulation of urban traffic and environmental policies. 展开更多

The Urban Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (UVANET) provides non-safety applications like media sharing, internet service, file transfer, gaming, and so on. Routing plays an important role in providing better services to the users in UVANET. In this paper, a novel routing protocol is proposed for UVANET to support non-safety applications. We consider a non-safety application wherein the drivers and passengers of different parking lots can play multiplayer games with each other. To play the games smoothly, the game data should reach the destination in a minimum time. Simulation results show that when the vehicle density in the city area is high, the proposed protocol meets the end-to-end delay tolerance of 100 ms. Finally, an experiment is performed to validate the proposed routing protocol by running a simple puzzle game in a UVANET prototype designed in an indoor laboratory environment and in an outdoor environment. 展开更多

This paper discusses the design of the propulsion system of the UAQ4 (University of L'Aquila, model 4) magnetic levitating train which is used for transportation applications in urban environments. UAQ4 is the only magnetic levitating vehicle with resistance motion, except for aerodynamic drag and with energy consumption near zero at low speed. The feasibility of the system has been successfully verified and tested in the laboratory. Propulsion and braking are provided by a novel direct-current linear stepper motor, with the primary formed by permanent magnets distributed on central beam of the track, and the secondary by coils on board the vehicle, instead of the present alternate current linear motors that have well-known disadvantages. The motor working principles are described, and its performances are analyzed, by a finite element numerical model which allows modifying the most important parameters of the system. The main components of a full scale motor for urban transportation are measured and discussed. 展开更多

The urban logistics activities by private companies within urban areas represent an integral part of city logistics that aims to improve the efficiency of urban freight transportation, reduce traffic congestion, mitigate environmental impacts, reduce costs and fuel consumption.
