This paper investigates the existence and the characteristics of different types of daily MFD for the Shanghai urban expressway network. The existence of MFD in the Shanghai urban expressway network is proved based on two weeks' data.Moreover, the hysteresis phenomena is present in most days and the network exhibits different hysteresis loops under different traffic situations. The relationship between the hysteresis phenomena and the inhomogeneity of traffic distribution is verified. The MFDs in the years of 2009 and 2012 are compared. The hysteresis loop still exists in 2012, which further verifies the existence of the hysteresis phenomenon. The direct relationship between the length of the hysteresis loop( ΔO) and the congestion is proved based on sufficient data. The width of the hysteresis loop, i. e., the drop in network flow( ΔQ) has no relationship with the congestion, and it varies from day to day under different traffic situations.展开更多

The objective of this research is to explore the rules in the process of true color image city map design based on chromatic and aesthetic knowledge. This paper proposes a new approach based on the level o...In 3D urban visualization, large data volumes related to buildings are a major factor that limits the delivery and browsing speed in a web-based computer system. This paper proposes a new approach based on the level of detail (LOD) technique advanced in 3D visualization in computer graphics. The key idea of LOD technique is to generalize details of object surfaces without losing details for delivery and displaying objects. This technique has been successfully used in visualizing one or a few multiple objects in films and other industries. However, applying the technique to 3D urban visualization requires an effective generalization method for urban buildings. Conventional two-dimensional (2D) generalization method at different scales provides a good generalization reference for 3D urban visualization, Yet, it is difficult to determine when and where to retrieve data for displaying buildings. To solve this problem, this paper defines an imaging scale point and image scale region for judging when and where to get the fight data for visualization. The results show that the average response time of view transformations is much decreased.展开更多

However, due to the inherent correlation between spectral bands and within-class variability in th...High-resolution hyper-spectral image (HHR) provides both detailed structural and spectral information for urban study. However, due to the inherent correlation between spectral bands and within-class variability in the data, the data processing of HHR is a challenging work. In this paper, based on spectral mixture analysis theory, a new stack of parts description features were extracted, and then incorporated with a stack of morphology based spatial features. Partially supervised constrained energy minimization (CEM) and unsupervised nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) were used to extract the part-features. The joint features were then integrated by SVM classifier. The advantages of this method are the representation of physical composition of the urban area by the parts-features and the show of multi-scale structure information by morphology profiles. Experiments with an airborne hyper-spectral data flightline over the Washington DC Mall were performed, and the performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated in comparison with well-known nonparametric weighted feature extraction (NWFE) and feature selection method. The results shown that the proposed features-joint scheme consistently outperforms the traditional methods, and so can provide an effective option for processing HHR data in urban area.展开更多
