[Method] Based on "Multiple Allele Hypothesis of Genic Male Sterile Chinese Cabbage", an inbred line '06048' of oval ecotype was used as the receptor, and male fertile plant of 'AB12' was used as the donor line. Crossing, backcross, selfing, testcross and sibling were ap- plied to transfer the multiple alleles under the directional genetic model. [Result] Segregation ratio of every generation was consistent with theoretical value. A new male sterile line with 100% male sterility and '06048' horticultural traits was ob- tained successfully, which accomplished the transfer of male sterile multiple allele and horticultural characters of receptor line at the same time. [Conclusion] The re- search verifies that the model of directional transfer is feasible, provides a theoreti- cal basis for the directional transfer of Chinese cabbage with other horticultural traits whose genotype is msms. The model can also be applied to other Brassica crops, to generate genetic male sterile lines with specific botanical traits and high-quality economic traits.展开更多

Yield performance, cultivation characteristics of Sumian 29, and its selection and breeding process were introduced in the paper. Regional tests from 2010 to 2011 in Jiangsu Province showed that seed cotton yield and lint yield averaged 4 185 and 1 737 kg/hm2, and increased by 10.6% and 8.5% respectively, when compared with control (Siza 3). In production test, seed cotton yield and lint yield of Sumian 29 averaged 4 176 and 1 744.5 kg/hm2, respectively. Sumian 29 had high resistance to cotton bollworm, and also resistance to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt of cotton. All of its fiber qualities achieved National Standard III and above. Sumian 29 has good application prospects.展开更多

The levels of 6-and 12-month-old C57 mice were much lower compared with that of the l-month-old mouse. However, there was no significant difference between these two groups. This result suggests that gene transcription level of hippocampus β NGF in a C57, mouse descends evidently as it grows up. Base T at Site 294 of β NGF cDNA was substituted by C in the C57, mouse, as revealed by DNA sequencing for the first time. Nevertheless, this polymorphism of nucleotide did not make any difference in amino acid composition.展开更多

EG4 cells derived from 10.5 dayspost coitum (dpc) PGCs of l29/svJ strain mouse wereestablished and maintained in an undifferentiated state. With an attempt to study the differentiation capability ofEG4 cells with a reporter protein: green fluorescence pro-tein, and the possible application of EG4 cells in the re-search of germ cell development, we have generated severalEG4-GFP cell lines expressing enhanced green fluorescenceprotein (EGFP) and still maintaining typicaI characteris-tics of pluripotent stem cells. Then, the differentiation ofEG4-GFP cells in vitro as well as their developmental fatein chimeric embryos which were produced by aggregatingEG4-GFP cells to 8-cell stage embryos were studied. Theresults showed that EG4 cells carrying green fluorescencehave a potential use in the research of germ cell develop-ment and other related studies.展开更多

METHODS RT-PCR, immunohistochemical and Western blotting methods were used to examine the changes of expression levels of the transcription factor Twist, E-cadherin and N-cadherin in the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line and its multidrug-resistant variant, MCF-7/ADR. RESULTS In MCF-7 cells, the expression of E-cadherin can be detected, but there is no expression of Twist or N-cadherin. In MCF-7/ADR cells, E-cadherin expression is lost, but the expression of two other genes was significantly positive. CONCLUSION Epithelial-mesenchymal transitions induced by Twist, may have a relationship with enhanced invasion and metastatic potential during the development of multidrug-resistant MCF-7/ADR breast cancer cells.展开更多
