As a result of this change, the rate of post-retirement migration, settling into a new life in a new region after retirement, has considerably increased. However, despite of this increase, post-retirement migration is one of the least analyzed migration movements among existing studies. Hence, in this article, studies analyzing properties of post-retirement migration and factors causing this migration are assessed. As every migration movement, post-migration movements also create changes laying different responsibilities on both emigrant and immigrant regions and migrating person and require settling into a new life in the place of arrival. In the relevant studies, the basic reason for post-retirement migration is considered as pursuit of peace and joy and it is defined as a migration type under the high influence of counter-urbanization movement. According to the results of the study, it is stated that post-retirement migrants, unlike many international migrants, can buy their own houses in the countries of arrival and can maintain a relatively high standard of living compared to that local community, and that this situation is a very attractive factor encouraging them to migrate. Moreover in the studies, characteristics causing migration and belonging to the region of departure are analyzed as aversive while characteristics belonging to the region of arrival are analyzed as attractive factors.展开更多

The overall objective of the project is to demonstrate the environmental benefits and technical feasibility of the implementation of an elastomeric eco-friendly material made of end-of-life tires with resin for railway applications. Within the project, AV Ingenieros jointly with LEAM, carries out the study of the vibration behavior of the eco-friendly material, which will be applied as a mat for ballasted tracks as well as an isolated block system for slab tracks. Firstly, an analytical model capable to predict the efficiency of the eco-friendly material as a vibration mitigation measure has been developed. Subsequently, and after the implementation of the eco-friendly solutions in real railway infrastructures, its vibration behavior will be measured and validated through in situ measurements during regular service. In this paper the analytical model is defined, the elastomeric material dynamic experimental characterization is described and the under ballast mat Insertion Loss is calculated for two different soil stiffness.展开更多

The primary target is to meet the requirements provided by the local regulations from the regulatory offices. The controlling, monitoring and power supply of safety functions have to comply with these regulations. Any deviations from the existing safety analysis report (SAR) have to be corrected. On top of the safety measures the general technical status should be raised to extend the lifetime to 60 years. A high availability during the modernization has to be assured.展开更多

Vehicle average life span and vehicle scrappage intensity are the key features of vehicle survival patterns and are important for the projection of China's vehicle scrappage and ownership. In this study, we modeled the vehicle survival patterns of nine classifications of vehicles in China by employing the Weibull distribution, and obtained the vehicle survival ratio functions. It is estimated that the average life spans of private passenger vehicles, government and business vehicles, non-operating buses, heavy duty, medium duty and light duty trucks are 14.5, 13.1, 11.5, 12.8, 10.1, and 8 years, respectively. The scrappage intensities of these vehicles are similar. Average life spans of taxis, transit buses and non-transit operating buses are 5, 9, and 5.5 years with the pattern of mandatory scrappage. Vehicle scrappages in China are mainly regulated by the upper limits of vehicle distances traveled specified by the compulsory scrappage standards.展开更多
