The experimental factors in aqueous solutions including persulfate concentration, Fe2+ concentration, pH and ionic strength level were discussed. It is demonstrated that, aniline degradation rate increases with increasing persulfate concentration, but much more ferrous ion inhibits the aniline degradation. When the aniline concentration is 0.10 mmol/L, the maximum aniline degradation occurs at the S2O82- to Fe2+ molar ratio of 250/5 at pH 7.0. In the pH range of 5.0-8.5, increasing pH causes higher aniline degradation. What's more, the increase of ionic strength in solution causes inhibiting in the reaction. Produced intermediates during the oxidation process were identified using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technology. And degradation pathways of aniline were also tentatively proposed.展开更多

The kinetic parameters of the fermentation process were determined from the batch experimental data. The continuous fermentation was modeled to be carried out in a stirred tank reactor. The effect of hydraulic retention time on the steady state continuous fermentation process of glucose by Aspergillus niger to produce gluconic acid was investigated. The result showed that increasing the hydraulic retention time caused the cell amount and gluconic acid concentration at the outlet stream increased but the glucose concentration at the outlet stream decreased. The steady state simulation result was useful for fermenter size determination. Dynamic behaviour of gluconic acid production through fermentation by Aspergillus niger was also studied for a fermenter with 24 h hydraulic retention time. Applying step change of inlet substrate concentration resulted in first order response of cell, substrate and product concentration with all having positive gain. On the other hand, applying step change of inlet cell concentration has resulted in positive gain for cell and product concentration and negative gain for substrate concentration with first order response for all those three parameters.展开更多

We mainly analyzed the relationship between the characteristic of FACs at the PSBL in magnetotail and the Kp index. The main results indicated the followings: 1) In the different geomagnetic activity levels, the relative occurrence of FACs in PSBL increased monotonically with geomagnetic activity. 2) The density of FACs in PSBL increased monotonically with Kp index. In the storm main phase, the density of FACs increased dramatically, the maximum FACs approximately equaled 19.05 nA m-2 while Kp equaled 5.3) The variation of FACs density in PSBL was consistent with the variation of the Kp index. However, when AE〈800 nT, FACs density in PSBL increased with increasing AE, and when AE〉800 nT, it decreased with increasing AE. Therefore, our results suggested that the FACs density in PSBL had a closer correlation with Kp index.展开更多

Cinnamoyl esters and amides, as well as cinnamyl ketones and oximes, did not show any reactivity with the two probe thiols, while cinnamaldehyde(1a) reacted with cysteamine to afford a mixture of a thiazoline derivative and compounds of multiple addition, and with aliphatic thiols to give a single bis-dithioacetal(6). Chalchones and their vinylogous C5-curcuminoid derivatives were the only cinnamoyl derivatives that gave a thiaMichael reaction. From a mechanistic standpoint, loss of conjugation in the adduct might underlie the lack of a native Michael reactivity. This property is restored by the presence of another conjugating group on the carbonyl, as in chalcones and C5-curcuminoids. A critical mechanistic revision of the chemical and biomedical literature on cinnamaldehyde and related compounds seems therefore required.展开更多
