The advanced approach takes advantage of the latest techniques in Australia for mine scale geotechnical characterisation, field measurement, monitoring and numerical modelling. Key techniques described in this paper include coal mine site 3D geotechnical characterisation methods, surface deep downhole multi-point extensometers and piezometers for overburden displacement and pore pressure measurements during mining, tracer gas tests for goal gas flow patterns, and advanced numerical modelling codes for coupled coal mine strata, water and gas simulations, and longwall goaf gas ttow investigations. This integrated approach has resulted in significant insights into the complex dynamic imeraction between strata, groundwater, and gas during mining at Huainan Mining Group in recent years. Based on the lindings from the extensive field monitoring and numerical modelling studies, a three-dimensional annular-shaped over-lying zone along the perimeter of the longwall panel was identified for optimal methane drainage during mining.展开更多

METHODS: From August 2007 to December 2010, a total of 11 patients with 23 abdominal wall nodules (diameter 2.59 cm ± 1.11 cm, range 1.3 cm to 5.0 cm) were treated with MW ablation. One antenna was inserted into the center of tumors less than 1.7 cm, and multiple antennae were inserted simultaneously into tumors 1.7 cm or larger. A 21 gauge thermocouple was inserted near important organs which required protection (such as bowel or gallbladder) for real-time temperature monitoring during MW ablation. Treatment outcome was observed by contrast-enhanced ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) [or computed tomography (CT)] during follow-up. RESULTS: MW ablation was well tolerated by all patients. Six patients with 11 nodules had 1 thermocouple inserted near important organs for real-time temperature monitoring and the maximum temperature was 56 ℃. Major complications included mild pain (54.5%), post-ablation fever (100%) and abdominal wall edema (25%). All 23 tumors (100%) in this group were completely ablated, and no residual tumor or local recurrence was observed at a median follow-up of 13 mo (range 1 to 32 mo). The ablation zone was well defined on contrast-enhanced imaging (contrast-enhanced CT, MRI and/or contrast-enhanced ultrasound) and gradually shrank with time. CONCLUSION: Ultrasound-guided MW ablation may be a feasible, safe and effective treatment for abdominal wall metastatic tumors in selected patients.展开更多

Longwall extraction of seam 349 with roof caving was simulated in the model over a length of 450 m. Mining-induced changes in displacements, strains and stresses in the mine strata were investigated. Under the assumptions that (1) methane-bearing strata occur 15.6 m beneath seam 349 and include seam 350 and the strata lying beneath, and (2) the methane reservoir pressure is equal to 2 MPa, a fully coupled mechanical hydraulic analysis was performed in which joint conductivity was dependent on the mechanical deformation and, conversely, the mechanical behavior of rock masses was affected by joint fluid pressure. It was shown that migration of methane from coal seams lying beneath the mined seam is possible under conditions where the floor strata deform to a great extent, undergo separation, fracture and break into blocks.展开更多

Numerical results are obtained for solving the nonlinear governing momentum, energy and concentration equations with slip boundary condition, ramped wall temperature and ramped wall concentration on the surface of the vertical plate. The influence of emerging parameters on velocity, temperature and concentration fields are shown graphically.展开更多

Films of the purified carbon nanotubes fabricated by simple drop coating showed carrier mobilities as high as 164 cm2V-1s -1 normalized transconductances of 0.78 Sm-1 and on/off current ratios of 10^6. Such high performance requires the preparation of a suspension of micrometer-long and highly purified semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Our purification process includes length and electronic-type selective trapping of SWCNTs using recycling gel filtration with a mixture of surfactants. The results provide an important milestone toward printed high-speed and large-area electronics with roll-to-roll and ink-jet device fabrication.展开更多

Assuming the stenoses to be mild and using the slip boundary condition, the equations governing the flow of the proposed model are solved, and closed-form expressions for the flow characteristics (resistance to flow and wall shear stress) are derived. The effects of different parameters on these flow characteristics are analyzed. It is observed that both the resistance to the flow and the wall shear stress increase with the heights of the stenoses and the slip parameter; but decrease with the Darcy number, b^rthermore, the effects of the wall exponent parameter, the cross-viscosity coefficient and the micropolar parameter on the flow characteristics are discussed.展开更多
