Basic physical, acoustic properties, and in vitro ultrasound imaging enhancement of the lipid-coated microbubbles 被引量:1

Aim To research on a stable microbubble with good acoustic properties and excellent imaging enhancing effect, and to make it to be a promising agent for the enhancement of ultrasound imaging in the ultrasound diagnosis of cardiovascular system diseases. Methods The morphology, size and zeta potential of lipid-coated microbubbles (LCM), the acoustic properties of backscatter, and the second harmonic scatter of LCM were determined. Furthermore, the relationship between the concentrations and the amplitude values of the second harmonic was investigated by testing the intensities of the second harmonic at different concentrations. The imaging effect of LCM was also studied in vitro. Results The mean diameter of LCM was 3.38 μm with 95% of the bubbles under 5 μm. The scatter signal generated by microbubbles was observed under different concentrations in the bistatic modes while the position of transmitting transducer and receiving transducer was orthogonal. The intensity of the second harmonic scatter fell with the decrease of microbubble concentration. The increase rate of the second harmonic amplitude values generated by the microbubbles versus that by physiological saline was linear with the natural logarithm of bubble concentrations. The LCM could enhance the ultrasound image of thrombus. Conclusion The LCM exhibited good physical state and acoustic properties, which could increase the imaging quality. 展开更多

A study of the effects of the pulp nature on desulphurization and de-ashing during high-sulfur coal flotation is described in this paper. Highlighted are the use of a solution oxygen gauge, a pH value gauge and a surface tension gauge to investigate changes in the pulp nature related to changes in the oxygen content, the pH value and the interfacial tension. The temperature be- fore and after ultrasonic conditioning was also investigated. The results showed that ultrasonic conditioning resulted in a decrease in the oxygen content and the interracial tension and an increase in the pH value and the temperature of the pulp. The perfect index of flotation and the perfect index of desulphurization of fine coal increased by 25.19% and 18.03%, respectively, after the pulp was ultrasonically conditioned. This study shows that ultrasonic conditioning can change the pulp nature and enhance the degree of desulphurization during high-sulfur coal flotation. 展开更多

Non-consistency of stress results is of ten observed during field measurements. In some cases, even the rneasurernents are made at the same location in a massive rockrnass, the results can vary widely. In order to solve the problem, extensive research has been carried out to study the major factors wh1ch rnay affect stress deterrnlnation. They include the rock behaviour and the stress state. For rocks showing non-isotropic behaviour, the values of Young’s modulus and Poisson ratio vary with the orientation of loading and measurement. Stress condition in the rock affects the rock behaviour. Furtherrnore, the loading condition on rock samples durlng laboratory tests is different from in the field and therefore the determined e1astic constants may not represent the field condi tion. In general , the Young’s modulus may depend on the orientation, the loading path, the stress magnitude and the stress ratio. This paper examines in detail the effects of those factors, especially for rocks showing transversely isotropic behaviour. It is found that the discrepancy of stress results from field measurernents in this type of rock is mainly due to over simplification of the rock behavior and inadequate use of elastic constants of the rock during stress calculation. A case study is given,which indicates the significance of these factors and demonstrates the proper procedure for stress calculation from measurements. 展开更多

Ultrasonic elastic characteristics of five kinds of metamorphic deformed coals under room temperature and pressure conditions 被引量:8

The calibration of the elastic characteristics of deformed coals is essential for seismic inversion of such units, because the prediction of coal deformation is essential for both mining safety and methane production. Therefore, many samples of broken and mylonitic deformed coal were tested with ultrasonic waves in the laboratory. These samples came from four mining areas: the Huainan, Pingdingshan, Hebi and Jiaozuo coal mines, which present five different metamorphic ranks shown as cylinders striking across circular limits of steel. Under normal pressures and temperatures, ultrasonic P- and S-wave tests show that the velocities, quality factors, and elastic moduli of the deformed coals were greatly reduced compared with undeformed coals. Also, some correlation was found between the P- and S-wave velocities in the deformed coals. However, there is no evidence of linear correlations between velocity and density, velocity and quality factor, or the quality factors of P- and S-waves. Compared with the elastic characteristics of undeformed coals, such as P- and S-wave velocity ratios or Poisson's ratio, those of deformed coals generally decrease and the P-wave quality factors are less than those of S-waves. Moreover, the analysis of the relationship between pore structure and elastic modulus shows a better correlation between the P- and S-wave velocities and effective porosity, pore volume and specific surface area. Also, there are similar relationships between the pore structure and the Young's and shear moduli. However, there are no such correlations with other moduli. Correlations between these elastic moduli, pore structure, coal rank and density were not found for the various samples of deformed coals, which is consistent with only structural destruction occurring in the deformed coals with other physical properties remaining unchanged. The experimental results show that it is possible to predict the deformation of coals with multi-component seismic elastic inversion. 展开更多
