The disper...In this paper, (2+1)-dimensional electron acoustic waves (EAW) in an unmagnetized collisionless plasma have been studied by the linearized method and the reductive perturbation technique, respectively. The dispersion relation and a modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation have been obtained for the EAW in the plasma considering a cold electron fluid and a vortex-like hot electrons. It is found from some numerical results that the parameter β(the ratio of the free hot electron temperature to the hot trapped electron temperature) effects on the amplitude and the Width of the electron acoustic solitary waves (EASW). It can be indicated that the free hot electron temperature and the hot trapped electron temperature have very important effect on the characters of the propagation for the EASW.展开更多

A Tollmien-Shlichtling (TS) effect is suspected, and several compressible LES are made on aerodynamic profiles to detect and investigate this phenomenon. Vortex shedding is observed at the trailing edge, triggering some density fluctuations when a thin boundary layer exists on the profile upper side. Acoustic waves with length equivalent to the chord are observed. A profile modification is proposed with a camber brought closer to the leading edge. This shape tested on a prototyped fan confirms the weakening of the TS effect.展开更多

There were tube banks with in-line arrangem...In the present paper the attention is focused on the relation between vortex shedding phenomena and acoustic resonance which occurred in the two-dimensional model of boiler. There were tube banks with in-line arrangement for small tube pitch ratio. We measured the sound pressure level, the phase delay of acoustic pressures, the spectrum of velocity fluctuation and the gap velocity. As a result, we found two peak frequencies of sound pressure level with different Strouhal numbers St, mainly about 0.26 and 0,52, The noise of St=0.26 was the resonance of transverse mode and St=0.52 was longitudinal mode. The vortex shedding of St=0.15 was generated inside the tube banks without acoustic resonance. As gap velocity increased, we observed that the peak level of spectrum was weak and broad-banded, The onset velocity of the acoustic resonance of longitudinal mode was lower than that of transverse mode.展开更多

The present paper addresses the elucidation of the generating mechanism and parameter dependency such as the kind and degree of mistuning. In order to analyze numerically the rotational frequency noise due to mistuning, the unsteady computational fluid dynamics(CFD) of the whole compressor including volute is executed, and the resultant time history of the pressure is fed into the spectral analysis.展开更多
