The implementation method of the IEEE 802.11 Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is mainly based on DSP (Digital Signal Processor)/ ARM (Advanced Reduced instruction set computer Machine) processor or DSP/ARM IP (Intellectual Property) core. This paper presents a method based on Nios II soft-core processor embedded in Altera’s Cyclone FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and MicroC/OS-II RTOS (Real-Time Operation System). The benefits and drawbacks of above methods are compared, and then the method presented in this paper is described. The hardware and software partitioning are discussed; the hardware architecture is also illustrated and the MAC software programming is described in detail. The presented method has some advantages, such as low cost, easy-implementation and very suitable for the implementation of IEEE 802.11 MAC in research stage. 展开更多

There is a growing awareness among industry players of reaping the benefits of mobile-cloud convergence by extending today's unmodified cloud to a decentralized two-level cloud-cloudlet architecture based on emerging mobile-edge computing(MEC) capabilities. In light of future 5G mobile networks moving toward decentralization based on cloudlets, intelligent base stations, and MEC, the inherent distributed processing and storage capabilities of radio-and-fiber(R&F) networks may be exploited for new applications, e.g., cognitive assistance, augmented reality, or cloud robotics. In this paper, we first revisit fiber-wireless(Fi Wi) networks in the context of conventional clouds and emerging cloudlets, thereby highlighting the limitations of conventional radio-overfiber(Ro F) networks such as China Mobile's centralized cloud radio access network(C-RAN) to meet the aforementioned trends. Furthermore, we pay close attention to the specific design challenges of data center networks and revisit our switchless arrayedwaveguide grating(AWG) based network with efficient support of east-west flows and enhanced scalability. 展开更多

In this study,the activated sludge model implemented in the BioWin software was validated against full-scale wastewater treatment plant data. Only two stoichiometric parameters(Y p /acetic and the heterotrophic yield(Y H)) required calibration. The value 0.42 was used for Yp /acetic in this study,while the default value of the BioWin software is 0.49,making it comparable with the default values of the corresponding parameter(yield of phosphorus release to substrate uptake(YPO4)) used in ASM2,ASM2 d,and ASM3 P,respectively. Three scenarios were evaluated to improve the performance of the wastewater treatment plant,the possibility of wasting sludge from either the aeration tank or the secondary clarifier,the construction of a new oxidation ditch,and the construction of an equalization tank. The results suggest that construction of a new oxidation ditch or an equalization tank for the wastewater treatment plant is not necessary. However,sludge should be wasted from the aeration tank during wet weather to reduce the solids loading of the clarifiers and avoid effluent violations. Therefore,it is recommended that the design of wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs) should include flexibility to operate the plants in various modes. This is helpful in selection of the appropriate operating mode when necessary,resulting in substantial reductions in operating costs. 展开更多

The main idea is the use of hashing tables in order to prune a considerable portion of graph database that cannot contain the answer set. These tables are implemented using column-based techniques and are used to store graphs of database, frequent sub-graphs and the neighborhood of nodes. In order to exact checking of remaining graphs, the vertex invariant is used for isomorphism test which can be parallel implemented. The results of evaluation indicate that proposed method outperforms existing methods. 展开更多

Foreground moving object detection is an important process in various computer vision applications such as intelligent visual surveillance, HCI, object-based video compression, etc. One of the most successful moving object detection algorithms is based on Adaptive Gaussian Mixture Model (AGMM). Although ACMM-hased object detection shows very good performance with respect to object detection accuracy, AGMM is very complex model requiring lots of floatingpoint arithmetic so that it should pay for expensive computational cost. Thus, direct implementation of the AGMM-based object detection for embedded DSPs without floating-point arithmetic HW support cannot satisfy the real-time processing requirement. This paper presents a novel rcal-time implementation of adaptive Gaussian mixture model-based moving object detection algorithm for fixed-point DSPs. In the proposed implementation, in addition to changes of data types into fixed-point ones, magnification of the Gaussian distribution technique is introduced so that the integer and fixed-point arithmetic can be easily and consistently utilized instead of real nmnher and floatingpoint arithmetic in processing of AGMM algorithm. Experimental results shows that the proposed implementation have a high potential in real-time applications. 展开更多

The proposed control strategy operates with a variable execution time T~, and it has been implemented using a low cost hardware platform based on TI~ TMS320F2812 DSP. The chosen platform is capable to execute a control strategy code with a variable execution time T,. Identifying Hamiltonian of a quantum system is of vital importance for quantum information processing.In this article, we realized and benchmarked a quantum Hamiltonian identification algorithm recently proposed(Zhang and Sarovar, 2014). we realized the algorithm on a liquid nuclear magnetic resonance quantum information processor using two types of working media with different forms of Hamiltonian. Our experiment realized the quantum identification algorithm based on free induction decay signals. We also showed how to process data obtained in a practical experiment. We studied the influence of decoherence by numerical simulations. Our experiments and simulations demonstrate that the algorithm is effective and robust. 展开更多
