Methods Orthogonalexperiment was used to optimize the method of CFX-PLA-MS preparation. Microspheres werecharacterized in terms of morphology, size, encapsulation efficiency, drug loading and in vitro drugrelease. Results The physical state of CFX-PLA-MS was determined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) . Microspheres formed were spherical with smoothsurfaces. Drug was enveloped in microspheres without mixing physically with PLA. The averageparticle size was 280.80 ± 0.15 μm, with over 90% of microspheres falling in the range of 250 -390 μm. The encapsulation efficiency was 65.8% ± 0.58% and the drug loading was 34.1% ± 0.51% .In vitro release study revealed a profile of sustained release of Ciprofloxacin from CFX-PLA-MS. Theaccumulated release percentage and half-life (T_(1/2) of Ciprofloxacin microspheres were 84.0% in53.2 h, and 31.9 h, respectively. Higuchi equation was Q= -0.0043 + 0.003 9 t^(1/2), r = 0.9941.Conclusion Ciprofloxacin microspheres have been successfully prepared and sustained release of CFXfrom microspheres is achieved.展开更多

Sulfonamide was grafted to the hydrophobicaUy modified pullulan acetate to enhance the pH sensitivity for better cancer-targeting delivery. 5-FU was loaded into the self-assembled nanoparticles by the same method. The drug-loaded self-assembled nanoparticles were successfully obtained and characterized in terms of particle size, morphology and drug loading and release profile at various pHs. The results showed that the mean diameter of the self-assembled particles was approximately 100nm, with uniform size and good spherical morphology. The nanoparticles showed good stability at pH 7.4, which is equal to that of the normal body fluid, but shrank and aggregated below pH 6.8, which is close to the pH with tumors. The loading efficiency and concentration of released 5-FU was monitored at 269 nm on the UVNis spectrophotometer. The release profile was heavily pH-dependent around phvsiological pH, and the release rate was significantly enhanced under pH of 6.8.展开更多

Computerized device for detecting NLCI is based on commercially available Gas Discharge Camera (www.ktispb.ru) and allows following time dynamics of several sensors in NLCI conditions. The typical sensors are: water, air, earth, and wood, this instrument was named "The 5th Element". Readings are taken continuously by special software every five or ten seconds in automatic mode. Sensitivity of the device was tested by detecting the influence of total sun eclipse in Siberia in 2008 and by detecting sunrise and sunset. Several experimental modalities have been developed: (1) directed NLCI of a person; (2) directed NLCI of a group of people; and (3) non-directed NLCI of a group of people. Experiments during many years demonstrated efficiency of the developed approach.展开更多

The percentage of both carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) had significantly increased (p 〈 0.05-0.005). The peak levels of these air pollutants were between 13:15-13:20 during Fridays. The increase in the emission of these exhausted gases was concomitant with the significant decrease (p 〈 0.05) in oxygen (02) levels but the latter recovered its levels after 13:20 hours. The arithmetic total mean density of vehicle per minute (vpm) at Salam Road, the busiest road of Al-Madinah, during hours (07:00-09:00), (13:00-15:00) and (17:00-19:00) of both Friday and Saturdays respectively were (8/45, 16/40 and 36/43). The increase in air pollution has been attributed to a dramatic increase in number of public cars use the car parks during these times, the consequent congestion at entries, the excess or/and poor consumption of fuels being utilized and the inadequate ventilation.展开更多

The high voltage equipment and high voltage installation owners have come to terms with the need for conditions monitoring the^process of PD in the equipments such as power transformers, gas insulated substations (GIS), and cable installations. This paper reviews the available PD detection methods (involving high voltage equipment) such as electrical detection, chemical detection, acoustic detection, and optical detection. Advantages and disadvantages of each method have been explored and compared. The review suggests that optical detection techniques provide many advantages in the consideration of accuracy and suitability for the applications when compared to other techniques.展开更多
