Mn iron, dissolved from the surface of ore, will determine the interfacial properties of the particles and, thus, their flotation behavior. In this work, the effect of Mn2+ on quartz flotation was investigated through flotation tests. It was found that quartz can be depressed with Mn2+ and floated with dodecylamine in the pH region 7-8. In order to prove the validity of the findings, UV spectrophotometry, FTIR and SEM-EDS were carried out. UV spectrophotometry tests results show that Mn2+ can competitive adsorb with RNH3+ in the surface of quartz at acidic and neutral pH values. The FTIR measurements and SEM-EDS analysis indicate that Mn2+ forms precipitation and adsorbs on the negatively charged quartz surface, it induces quartz recovery dropping in alkaline pH. Furthermore, in the case of sodium hexametaphosphate(SH), sodium silicate or citric acid, the effects of Mn2+ were also studied. This depression in the given Mn2+ did not disappear. Citric acid is an appropriate modifier to separate quartz depressed by Mn2+ from other ores at pH 7.展开更多

Satellite-based limb measurement of atmosphere is able to obtain the VER profile of airglow with high vertical resolution. However, the traditional one-dimensional retrieval techniques for VER inversion fail to retrieve horizontal structure of VER profile. Thus, the tomographic technique based on the maximum probability is applied to retrieving two-dimensional VER profile of airglow from infrared limb measurement. This technique could process the observed data with low signal-to-noise ratio caused by the observation angle of less than 180° due to the solid nature of the Earth. For saving the processing time and improving the computing speed of VER inversion, serial tables for storing the large sparse matrix for radiance simulation and a large dataset during iterative estimate of VER are presented. The index and weighting factor of line of sight (LOS) through each grid are saved in initial estimate to avoid being computed repeatedly. Furthermore, the product of observed radiance and corresponding weighting factor obtained in initial iteration is stored as weighted observed radiance for the iterative calculation subsequently. Based on the improved algorithm, the VER of airglow is inversed through the tomographic technique. The full width of half maximum (FWHM) of error is 1.78% and the offset of the peak percentage error is 0.22% after 40 iterations for final VER. Comparison of assumed and retrieved VER profiles suggests that VER can be retrieved with a bias of 15% between 10 km and 90 km above the LayerMin (6384 km from the Earth center), and with a bias of 8% for altitude from 30 km to 60 km with vertical resolution of 1 km after 40 iterations. After improvements, the computation speed of VER inversion for once can be improved by 29.6 times for 700 images of 1/3 orbit, and accordingly, the processing time will be reduced from 3 hours and 11 minutes to only 6 minutes. In conclusion, the improvements to tomographic inversion of VER of airglow proposed in this paper are effective and significant.展开更多

The combined use of mid-infrared attenuated total reflection spectroscopy and multivariate calibration allows accurate determination of nitrogen content in petroleum and its products. The calibration models of nitrogen content in crude oils have been established by partial least squares (PLS) method. The results predicted by this method were very close to those determined by standard methods. Compared with standard methods, this method is provided with advantages such as high-speed, simplicity and good-repeat- ability without any needs for pretreatment.展开更多

This article clarifies that it can also verify the Doppler Effect with the refraction method. We have designed the experimental system with the method of optical heterodyne, using the refraction light beam from a prism, and made the experiment. The experimental results are in accordance with the theoretical calculation. However, the difficulty in predicting foreign trade volume is usually attributed to the limitation of many conventional forecasting models. To improve the prediction performance, the study proposes a novel kernel-based ensemble learning approach hybridizing econometric models and artificial intelligence (AI) models to predict China's foreign trade volume. In the proposed approach, an important econometric model, the co-integration-based error correction vector auto-regression (EC-VAR) model is first used to capture the impacts of all kinds of economic variables on Chinese foreign trade from a multivariate linear anal- ysis perspective. Then an artificial neural network (ANN) based EC-VAR model is used to capture the nonlinear effects of economic variables on foreign trade from the nonlinear viewpoint. Subsequently, for incorporating the effects of irregular events on foreign trade, the text mining and expert's judgmental adjustments are also integrated into the nonlinear ANN-based EC-VAR model. Finally, all kinds of economic variables, the outputs of linear and nonlinear EC-VAR models and judgmental adjustment model are used as input variables of a typical kernel-based support vector regression (SVR) for en- semble prediction purpose. For illustration, the proposed kernel-based ensemble learning methodology hybridizing econometric techniques and AI methods is applied to China's foreign trade volume predic- tion problem. Experimental results reveal that the hybrid econometric-AI ensemble learning approach can significantly improve the prediction performance over other linear and nonlinear models listed in this study.展开更多

The assay method of SAL-Na included in the pharmacopoeia is a microbiological method, which is not suitable for the rapid detection in daily scientific research. Besides, the assay methods of SAL-Na reported by literature are not suitable for quantification due to the interference of various excipients. Consequently, the deep study on biological mechanism of SAL-Na is hindered by its assay method. In the present study, we aimed to establish an ultraviolet visible(UV-vis) spectrophotometric method to determine the content of SAL-Na in the liposomes. The first approach was a UV spectrophotometry, in which SAL-Na was dissolved in ethanol and then detected at 287 nm. Although the standard curve measured at 287 nm by UV method had good linearity, the quantification limitation was too high to meet the requirement in determining SAL-Na in the liposomes. In addition, the membrane materials in the liposomes severely affected the measurement. The second one was an improved UV-vis spectrophotometry by vanillin derivatization. In this method, SAL-Na was dissolved in 95% ethanol, mixed with vanillin test solution and heated at 72 ℃ for 40 min for derivatization. After cooling down to room temperature, the solution was detected using UV-vis spectrophotometer at 526 nm. This method could be used to accurately determine the content of SAL-Na at lower concentration, and the absorbance value was stable for 5 d at least. Moreover, the membrane materials of the liposomes did not affect the absorbance of SAL-Na at 526 nm. The precision and recovery studies demonstrated that the vanillin derivatization approach was stable and precise in assaying SAL-Na. In conclusion, the UV-vis spectrophotometry by vanillin derivatization could be used for measuring SAL-Na in the liposomes, thereby laying a foundation for deep study of the biological mechanism of SAL-Na in the liposomes.展开更多
