目前,外语学习训练听力和发音的方法,主要还是利用录音机或单放机。若利用录音机,在学习过程中需要频繁的倒带,不仅很麻烦,也加快了机器的磨损,而且也不易找准词或难句在磁带上的位置。对于单放机,因为有的无倒带功能,学习起来就更困难... 目前,外语学习训练听力和发音的方法,主要还是利用录音机或单放机。若利用录音机,在学习过程中需要频繁的倒带,不仅很麻烦,也加快了机器的磨损,而且也不易找准词或难句在磁带上的位置。对于单放机,因为有的无倒带功能,学习起来就更困难了。近年来出现了不用倒带,却可反复播放的语言复读机,但由于结构复杂,体积大,价格高,未被多数人所接受。本文介绍的这种“多功能外语学习机”利用人们手中几乎都有的录音机或单放机,能实现自动录音、反复重放、强化记忆、矫正发音等外语学习所需要的多种功能。此学习机结构简单,体积很小,造价低,使用灵活方便。 展开更多

Autonomous learning has been attracting more and more attention in the field of second language teaching and learning since it was put forward. In order to get a better understanding about autonomous learning competence of freshmen of English major in university, this investigation was conducted in the form of questionnaire and was analyzed according to the data collected. The investigation found that autonomous learning competence of freshmen is poor and worrying. Freshmen have strong motivation for English learning, but they keep old learning habit and more rely on teachers. They are incapable of employing metacognitive strategies in their language learning and are not good at utilizing related learning resources available to them. All these deficiencies hinder improvement of them. So they are in great need of fostering the competence of automous learning. 展开更多

In this study, a questionnaire is conducted twice among 156 college students when they are freshmen and juniors. It intends to identify some components of foreign language learning motivation and probes into the causes for the changing motivations of students throughout four-year college education. The findings suggest that instrumental motivation plays a crucial role in foreign language learning context. 展开更多

This paper reviews key constructs explored in this special issue of Chinese Journal of Applied Linguistics, including autonomy, agency and identity in foreign/second language education. We first explore and compare, in relatively greater depth, the complex meanings of the two similar concepts of autonomy and agency. In discussing autonomy, we start with an analysis of the meaning of capacity and control in Benson's (2011) broad definition of autonomy as a capacity to take control of one's own learning, and briefly look at related issues of learner agendas and affordances. Based on a close scrutiny of the concept of agency, we propose that autonomy and agency are best treated as distinct concepts in terms of the degree of effective control over the learning-teaching process. Following a dose examination of the two similar concepts of autonomy and agency, we discuss the concept of identity and finally the interrelatedness among these major concepts of autonomy, agency, and identity in language education. 展开更多
