However, it frequently occurs that a large amount of slotting products (mainly the coal slurry and gas) intensely spurt out of the borehole during the slotting, which adversely affects the slotting efficiency. Despite extensive previous investigations on the mechanism and prevention-device design of the spurt during ordinary borehole drilling, a very few studies has focused on the spurt in the s Ottlng pro ] " _ cess. The slotting spurt is mainly caused by two reasons: the coal and gas outburst in the borehole and the borehole deslagging blockage. This paper focuses on the second reason, and investigates the hydraulic deslagging flow patterns in the annular space between the drill pipe and borehole wall Results show that there are six deslagging flow patterns when the drill pipe is still: pure slurry flow, pure gas flow, bubble flow, intermittent flow, layering flow and annular flow. When the drill pipe rotates, each of those six flow patterns changes due to the Taylor vortex effect. Outcomes of this study could help to better understand the slotting-spurt mechanism and provide guidance on the anti-spurt strategies through eliminating the borehole deslagging blockage.展开更多

With it, knowledge is transferred and diverse teams emerge in the subsidiaries abroad. However, expatriation management and diversity management have been separated areas so far. Thus, the readiness to use expatriation as an integral element of an overall diversity strategy has been evaluated in an exploratory empirical study. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews have been conducted with both expatriates and HR (human resources) managers in six subsidiaries and the headquarters of an international mechanical engineering company. It was found that operative aspects of the expatriate management dominate the viewpoint of those involved. However, the findings also suggest that an implicit recognition of advantages that stem from the variety of individual employees exists. Willingness to systematically strengthen the exchange and learning process was detected. Based on these results, a new approach could be conceptualized and implemented. This provides various foci for further research.展开更多

Based on the published studies of foreign and Albanian researchers, we have analyzed the current level of information about the distribution of this class in Albania. In this study we mainly focused in the Southern Region of Albania by assessing the biodiversity of the diplopods. The study area covers the Ionian coast and parts of Vjosa river valley. This study has made use of determination key of Mauries J. color, number of segments, number of paired limbs to distinguish the different species. The collected data are compared with previous findings by Verhoeff (1901), Attems (1929), Manfredi (1945), Mauriès, Go lovatch, Stoev (1997) etc. The distribution range of the collected species is presented according to the national or Balkan level. Based on the recent studies and the geographical distribution of diplopods, we expect to find approximately 150 species of 50 genres in Albania.展开更多

Fortunately, MICS4mthe Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey conducted by UNICEF during 2012-2013 has introduced a module on accidents among children less than 15 years. In Algeria, the MICS4 survey targeted a sample of 28,000 households distributed over the national territory. These are the main results of polynomial logistic regression: Children in the richest quintile (B = .562, p 〈 .05), are much less exposed than children in the poorest quintile. The odd ratio is 1.75. Compared to children aged 12 to 14, the younger children of 0-2 years (B = -1.059, p 〈 .05), are three times less exposed (odd ratio = .347) to road traffic accidents; and children of 9-11 years (B = .520, p 〈 .05), are most exposed with an odd ratio of 1.68. For territorial planning areas, with the South being taken as a reference category, the risk of traffic accidents for a child is the lowest in the West Highlanders (B = -1.257, p 〈 .05), followed by the North Center (B = -1.163, p 〈 .05), the East Highlands (B = -1.053, p 〈 .05), the Northwest (B = -1.034, p 〈 .05), and the Northeast (B = -.805, p 〈 .05). Odd ratio values are respectively .29, .313, .349, .356, and .447.展开更多

This article discusses the study and teaching situation of musical arts in South Africa, based on the research of nine institutions of higher learning. The major objective of this article therefore is to explore the extent to which South African institutions of higher learning and performing arts centres have incorporated the arts and culture of the historically marginalised people of South Africa in their respective curricula. From the results, it points out that music departments at South African institutions of higher learning have not yet fully transformed their programmes away from European models to programmes that affirm and embrace all the musical styles and genres practiced in the country. The article provides an advocacy for a strong androgynic approach in the study and teaching of performing arts in South Africa: the incorporation of both African indigenous and Western art forms in the respective curricula.展开更多

Due to the unique physiochemical properties of nanoparticles, they can preferably help deliver drugs passing through the BBB. Researchers have been investigating the capacity of multifunctional nanomaterials as theranostical agents. However, some of the studies have reported controversial results, which might be due to different schematic designs, including size, surface charge, and shape. This review summarizes the applications of nanoparticles to overcome the BBB or contribute to improving the diagnostic and therapeutic effects in CNS diseases.展开更多
