The porous anodic alumina templates were prepared by anodizing aluminum films which were sputtered onto the tungsten/silicon substrates. A selective chemical etching was used to penetrate the barrier layer at the bottom of the alumina channels before electrodeposition, which enables direct electrical and chemical contact with the underside substrate electrode. The as-deposited samples were annealed at 450 ℃ in vacuum. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the nanorods were dense and compact with diameter of about 100 nm, length of approximate 1 um, and the aspect ratio of 10. X-ray diffraction, micro-Raman spectroscopy, and high resolution transmission electron microscopy showed that chalcopyrite polycrystalline structure and high purity CuInSe2 nanorods were obtained. The grain size was large in the rod axial direction. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy showed the composition was nearly stoichiometric. The energy band gap of this nanorod arrays was analyzed by fundamental absorption spectrum and was evaluated to be 0.96 eV.展开更多

The ordered copper nanowires arrays were assembled in nano-holes of the template by alternating current electrodeposition at lover voltage. The morphologies of template and copper nano-wires arrays were characterized by means of field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and the crystal structure of copper nano-wires was determined by means of X-ray diffraction. The results indicate that copper nano-wires hold the preferred crystalline orientation along (111), (200), (220) and (331) crystal faces during growth, and the growth of copper nano-wires in the nano-holes of the template is homogenous and continuous.展开更多

The influence of pore-enlargement treatment on the porous structure and tribological properties of the film was investigated, and ultrasonic impregnation technology was applied on it to form self-lubricating surface. The structure of the self-lubricating film and its tribological properties were investigated in detail. It can be concluded that the optimum time of pore-enlargement treatment is 20 min. The diameter of the pores and the surface porosity of the film are about 70 nm and 30%, respectively, while the film maintains the property of its high hardness. Under the same friction condition, the frictional coefficient of the self-lubricating film is 0. 18, much lower than that of the anodic aluminum oxide template, which is 0.52. In comparison with the lubricating surface of non-porous dense anodic aluminum oxide template, the lubricating surface fabricated by the ultrasonic impregnation method on the porous anodic aluminum oxide template keeps longer period with low friction coefficient. SEM examination shows that some C60 particles have been embedded in ultrasonic impregnation technology. the nanoholes of the anodic aluminum oxide template by the展开更多

Subsequent deposition of materials into the nanopores produces AA0 embedded nanowire arrays. Whilst the templates can be further removed to obtain free individual nanowires, the em- bedded nanowires form an interesting nanocomposite structure. Here we show that template-synthesized CNTs can be fabricated as well-aligned nanoporous CNTs membrane, which can be directly used as an electron field emitter. A low threshold electric field of 2-4 V/μm and maximum emission current density of ~12 mA/cm2 are observed. The results also show that the electron emission current is a function of the applied electrical field and the Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) plot almost follows a linear relationship which indicates a Fowler-Nordheim tunneling mechanism, and the field enhancement factor estimated is about 1100-7500. The simple and convenient approach should be significant for the development of nanotube devices integrated into field emission displays (FEDs) technology.展开更多

The polymer blend nanorods were prepared by infiltrating the polymer blends into nanopores of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates via capillary action. Their morphology was investigated by micro-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (micro-FTIR) and nano-thermal analysis (nano-TA) with spatial resolution. The composition gradient of polymer blends in the nanopores is governed by the difference of viscosity and miscibility between the two polymers in the blends and the pore diameter. The capillary wetting of porous AAO templates by polymer blends offers a unique method to fabricate functional nanostructured materials with gradient composition distribution for the potential application to nanodevices.展开更多
